Pleasant vibe of old Caribbean European town. Colorful arched walkways with storefronts and cafes, but sadly affected by pandemic closures. In January 2022, not much open on a Saturday. However, this allowed a more intimate connection with the tourists and locals who were out and about. I met baby walkers, first time scuba noobs, cafe owners who were chatty, a fashion photography group with 10 assistants and one model, lots of chickens with chicks, sailors putting in on dinghies from offshore yachts, and a very nice ice cream waitress who advised a blueberry smoothie was what I needed. How could I not see how lucky I am to be in St Croix on a clear day?
