Free Beach Resort Phu Quoc

Very disappointing stay – not recommended This is honestly the worst place I’ve stayed in Vietnam, and I rarely leave negative reviews. However, I feel it’s important to warn future guests so they can come prepared or avoid this place altogether. From the moment we arrived, the situation was unacceptable. The reception area was dusty, dirty, and completely disorganised. It immediately gave a bad impression and unfortunately reflected the rest of the resort. On the first day, we were given a room on the third floor above the reception. The room was extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The balcony view was shocking: abandoned and ruined structures, trash everywhere, and what appeared to be unsafe and unhealthy surroundings. The place did not feel safe to stay in at all. Because of the conditions, we contacted Booking.com immediately. Unfortunately, while they contacted the property, we were unable to find alternative accommodation on short notice, so we had no choice but to stay. For the last three nights, we were moved to another room, which was slightly better, but still far from acceptable and still very dirty. At first glance, the resort could look nice, but once you pay attention to the details, it’s clear that nothing is properly cleaned or maintained. The entire property feels neglected and unsafe. The breakfast was terrible — very poor quality, badly presented, and honestly not suitable for guests. The beach area is also completely neglected, with no maintenance or care. Nothing in this resort is properly maintained. I am attaching photos so future guests can see the real condition of the place with their own eyes. I truly regret this stay and cannot recommend this resort to anyone.

Would not recommend this stay. The room was very dirty and poorly maintained. Beds and towels were unclean, and overall hygiene was extremely disappointing. Basic amenities like a mirror and toiletries were missing, and even the plug points were not working. There is no room service, and after 10 PM no one is available at the reception. If you face any issue, there is no one to help—you have to physically go to the reception, which is inconvenient. Even drinking water is not provided free if you stay for more than one night. We also noticed that towels were being dried on the roadside in the lane leading to the hotel, which was very unhygienic. The lane itself is quite shady and does not feel safe. Overall, the stay was uncomfortable and not worth the money.

I visited only restraunt (haven't stayed in the hotel). AVOID this place!!! Terrible experience!!! We (a couple) came here on Dec 30 the 1st time. When we were eating the food that we ordered, we asked the waighter the price for sun beds and chairs. She said that sun beds are paid and chairs are free. After we finished the meal, we proceeded to free chairs to enjoy the time. And all was ok. BUT, the next day (on Dec 31st), we repeated the same - came to the restraunt, ordered the food and went to enjoy the chairs. In some time (like 1 hour later) an agressive and highly roode man came and started to tell us that we need to pay for chairs. I said that we ate here and chairs are free in this case according to their rules. He went away for a couple of mins and then returned with the same aggressive concern. I asked him if I can talk to the manager of this place. I went to the cashier area and asked the cashier if the chairs are free of charge in case we ate in the restraunt. She didn't reply directly but asked to list what we ate today. I listed it to her (seafood fride rice, tuna and 3 drinks) and told the price that I paid in cache. She did't reply anything and just made the face as if we didn't have any conversation. I have tones of evidence that we ate in this restraunt 2 days in a row (including 1 hour before this all happened), but no one asked me to show any evidence (except that I listed what was in my today's order). I,asked both of them many times what are the rules for chairs but each time they were providing different answers. Highly unplesent experience. In the end, that 'kind' man made an attempt to film me that actually was a hint to me that I can do the same. And I did film him. Please enjoy the VIDEO (I am also attaching the fotos of our food in this 'restraunt' (same day and previous day). On the video this man says that I have never ate in this restraunt and sends me to GO AWAY...

Nice quite place at the end of Free Beach. Excellent beach area for swimming and snorkeling. Beach side restaurant is perfect with pricing to match. Beer is a dollar what can I say. I have a small one room cottage. Its spacious and clean which is all I need. Bed is comfortable for me which is on the firm side. But hey your in Vietnam. Close to the market. Excellent front desk and reception personnel.

Well, I was looking for nice week on phu quoc island and booked this resort in hope I will enjoy private beach and (on photos) nice room with everything you expect from what they have published on booking or agoda aps. First dissapointment was room with old linen on beds, dead cockroach on balcony and unability to shut the front door without lock yourself in (see photo). Then the beach ... water was nice, rocks sticking out of water, clean sea ... but rubish everywhere (see photos). I have been already around Vietnam, but I never seen anything like this anywhere else ... took me 2 hours to find another accomodation without using any facilities in room or service from the resort. When I came to the desk saying I'm checking out and I don't want to stay in resort any longer, the girl behind the desk in reception said that the yesterday rain is responsible for mess on the beach and tommorow it will be ok. Well see for yourself ... not recommending, avoid this place. And before I forgot, the resort have no refunds policy ...

The location of this place is absolutely amazing, as such 4 star. From our room, threre was an amazing view of the beach. Drinks are cheap as well. The service could improve......

We had a pretty good stay here, the room & facilities were good for the price. It's beachfront with some sun loungers & umbrellas. The restaurant/bar is right on the beach which is a nice touch.

We stayed here as two families, one in a garden view bungalow (3) and one in a family garden view room (14) They were opposite each other and actually not really any different 😄 Both rooms were pleasant, large and clean. Both in a good spot halfway down the garden path. We were all very happy with the accommodation. I was slightly worried after reading some recent reviews but I shouldn't have been. The photos do not do the place justice, the grounds are beautiful and the end of the beach where there are some rocks is actually a lot nicer than the main beach. It's a beautiful spot where people come for sunset pictures. The location is perfect for nearby restaurants and beach bars although the resort in general is quite a relaxed quiet place. The staff are lovely. The included breakfast is a small menu but tasty - pancakes with mixed fruit a popular choice in our group 🤪 After walking the length of the beach yesterday and seeing some other budget accommodations I nearly booked I was very pleased with Free beach resort.
