Tom built the most amazing and luxurious human-sized squirrel hideouts, nested in the trees around a small lake. Each detail of the spheres and their interior are beautifully crafted and make for a great and unique experience. We loved that Tom showed us his workshop and the impressive effort that goes into completing each sphere. We rented Luna for my partner's birthday and she got surprised by a great basket of snacks and sparkling wine. Now, there is one thing... What do I suddenly have an urge to collect and hide nuts for next winter?

What a fantastic and unique getaway to the free spirit sphere. We went at the beginning of our honeymoon island tour and it was such a great start to the trip. When that gloomy morning rain hits the windows I feel like I could lay in that cozy bunk all day. The spheres are an engineering marvel and the amenities were sparklingly clean. The Incredible hosts really made us feel special, they go above and beyond here. Cell service (and sometimes even wifi) is lacking so get comfortable with disconnecting and enjoy this space.

I first discovered this place in 2010. There's nothing like sleeping in the trees, especially in those beautifully hand-crafted spheres Tom makes. The folks who own the place are amazing and very welcoming. The whole area and vibe is very beautiful. I'll be back one day; It's worth driving all the way to the island for.

My partner and I did a two-week road trip around Vancouver Island for our honeymoon last month: we stayed in many amazing hotels, B & Bs, and even in a glamping tent - but Free Spirit Spheres is where we had the most memorable time, and it's the one place we've been telling all our friends about! I can't think of a more unique accommodation: everything about these beautiful spheres is designed and crafted by hand with so much love by the wonderful owners, Tom and Rosey. We spent the first hour simply exploring and admiring the sphere: no corner is wasted, every nook serves a purpose. The spheres feature electricity and heating, plus - a one-minute walk away - a kitchen, sauna, and a full private bathroom. And of course a comfy murphy bed! We loved the peace and serenity of the property, falling asleep and waking up in the trees - we still think back to it now that we're back in the city. Tom and Rosey's hospitality is outstanding, and we can't recommend staying with them enough. Tom was so kind to give us a tour of his workshop - what he has created here is absolutely impressive, there's simply nothing like it. Not surprised Free Spirit Spheres was featured in Lonely Planet's "50 Places To Stay To Blow Your Mind" book and in "Builders of the Pacific Coast!" We're planning to be back one day. Thank you for everything! :)

This place is magical and enchanting. We loved our stay! My daughter has been looking forward to this trip since she read about the “hanging hotel” in Nat Geo Kids magazine 7 years ago! She was finally able to go as you have to be 16 years old and it was a dream come true for her. The spheres are incredible. So unique and actually quite luxurious and comfortable. We were surprised to find our sphere decorated for my daughters birthday and a piece of birthday cake with a candle waiting inside. So thoughtful and made the experience even more special. Every sphere is provided with a really nice basket of treats- cheese, crackers, pastries, etc. The bathrooms are separate from the spheres but it’s nice that you actually have your own private bathroom assigned to your tree house. The bathrooms are really nice and have hot water and heaters. The composting toilet beneath each sphere was convenient and colored pencils are provided so guests can leave a note on the walls. The property is gorgeous and peaceful. It feels very enchanted. There are little surprises everywhere you look such as tiny fairy gardens, painted inspirational rocks tucked away, sparkling twinkle lights. We saw a lot of wildlife, including a bear! But it ran away as soon as it saw us and heard a barking dog. The owner and builder is a very nice man! Loved it there!

A fantastic experience! Even if you were here without the spheres, the kitchen block, bathroom facilities and surroundings were lovely. But the spheres themselves are a once in a lifetime experience. An amazing thing to see and stay in. Comfortable, quirky and inspiring. The attention to detail, from the hanging baskets around the place, the breakfast hamper, to the carving on the hinges in the sphere, shows the care put into the place. Tom and Rosey have created a wonderful experience. We felt privileged to have them share it with us.

What an amazing place! My friend and I spent two nights in the Melody sphere and loved every moment. The space is so well constructed and thought out, and Tom was very thorough about explaining how the sphere works. The welcome basket was amazing! Bathroom facilities are more than ample, and the peaceful lakeside setting idyllic. Just an amazing place - stay if you can!

I wish I could give 10 stars for this place ! Simply the stand out highlight of our trip - which in fairness was built around our wish to stay here. This place is out of this world, a truly unique experience in a truly unique place hosted by two very special people Rosey & Tom who made us feel completely at home and for whom nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in Luna and Melody and had the place to ourselves as the other sphere was out of action. The place was easy to get to, probably took us a couple of hours from Victoria but we stopped to take photos pretty frequently. Great directions, easy to follow. The welcome snack ( understatement of the year!) was amazing - provided us with evening snacks and breakfast and more for the two days we were there. The actual place is stunning, wild Deer roaming around at leisure. The spheres are honestly the most beautiful and perfectly designed man made structures you could hope to find anywhere on earth!! It’s impossible to come close to describing them adequately and what it is like to stay in them. If you’re ever fortunate to be on the west coast of Canada, go to Vancouver island and book a stay at these eco-spheres. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Unique experience similar to glamping. Most gracious and generous hosts by I have ever met.

Yelp
Such an amazing and unique experience. I stayed in the Eryn sphere for one night with my boyfriend while we were making our way from Victoria to Tofino. The sphere was so cozy and comfortable, and the engineering and design behind the sphere is just incredibly intelligent and such a marvel. The owners/hosts also do such a great job of making your stay 100% comfortable. They prepared a big snack basket for us inside our sphere filled with baked goods, granola bars, and fruit, and another small plate of fruit and cheesecake and a small bottle of champagne. They also prepared the most delicious yogurt parfait for us to eat for breakfast the next morning. Lying in the sphere in the forest is just the most amazing and tranquil experience. Our sphere had a wireless bluetooth speaker which we used to play relaxing music in the evening and in the morning. The acoustics in the sphere are fantastic. I loved waking up in the sphere and just staring outside the window in the morning, looking at the tree branches surrounding us with some soft jazz music playing in the background. For anyone who is worried, the bathroom facilities are also super clean and modern and comfortable. They are just a short walk away and there are headlamps provided in case you need to walk there at night. I honestly can't recommend this experience enough! It was definitely pricey ($330 for one night, and our sphere was the cheapest available), but I am really glad we did it and am looking forward to returning again in the future!

Yelp
Cannot express how much we loved these spheres. We traveled with another couple, so we got to experience both the Eve and Melody spheres. First, Tom and Rosie are amazing. Their intelligence, passion, and creativity is evidenced by the craftsmanship of the spheres, the well appointed grounds and facilities, and the few life stories they shared with us. Getting to chat with such interesting people during our stay was a pleasant unexpected bonus. Second, the sphere experience is very unique. Hovering amongst the trees and birds while looking out rounded windows towards a little lake was peaceful and beautiful. While the Eve was a little tight, it was still sufficient space for two. Every nook and cranny was well planned and all of our things were tucked away just perfectly maximizing space. Apparently Tom spent 5 years building Eve, and the quality is very impressive. Our friends stayed in Melody, which is larger than Eve. At night the four of us comfortably were able to sit around the table inside and play games and enjoy the sphere. Overall our stay was very memorable and I would definitely go back. I could imagine taking my hypothetical kids up there in the future to explore the spheres and local community.

Yelp
Thanks to Rosie and Tom for doing a GREAT job! Their hospitality is fabulous, and the effort put into the spheres is truly a special effort. It's an amazing environment, and you'll discover some of the magical elements of the spheres while there! Be aware, that a stay here is more about connecting to nature than some goofy high-end hotel. Service is personal, but you'll be walking through grassy or damp areas, and climbing rope ladders to your room. There's a huge pond and small converted trailer which houses a sauna and showers on the grounds (really awesome conversion, btw!). The are also deer and horses in the areas nearby, so you may see some around from your window/porthole. That doesn't mean it isn't worth it though - it is, just expect to be mobile. The biggest challenge is getting there from Vancouver - I live in Los Angeles and flew, drove, helicoptered over, and drove some more!

Yelp
Seriously awesome. My girlfriend and I visited the last weekend and it was a once in a lifetime experience. The spheres are perfectly round and masterfully crafted from either wood or fiberglass. They are magnificently suspended between 3 trees using heavy duty roping and a sphere harness system. The insides of the spheres were not only comfortable but a true work of carpentry. As an engineers, we take our hats off to the level of detail and work put into making these spheres a living possibility. Architecture, craftsmanship, and engineering aside, the experience of living in the beautiful trees of the Pacific Northwest was outstanding. The tranquility of the woods and the dazzling array of stars in the night sky made this trip worth it. Waking up in a sphere amongst the trees was a really cool experience too. Take a trip up to Qualicum Beach - you can thank me later!

Yelp
By far the coolest place I have ever stayed. My boyfriend and I stayed here on our tour of the PNW. It was a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Eve sphere, which comfortably fits two people. Jamie and Rosey were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. It is an amazing place to enjoy some peace and quiet while enjoying a truly unique and memorable accommodation. The welcome snacks were a delight! We received pastries, yogurt, small bottle of champagne, fruit, and cookies. It was very nice to have snacks to munch on the next morning rather than rushing off to breakfast. Free Spirit Spheres is a memorable experience and I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Free Spirit Spheres is A MUST STAY! We just got back from our trip there and are already talking about when do we get to go back. The spheres are unbelievably cool and entirely made by the owner! The owners were all so friendly and the designer of the spheres took time out to show us his newest sphere creation. We were wowed by the design and skill of this craftsman. You will not be disappointed- go! The area is also absolutely beautiful if you decide to leave the sphere ;)

Yelp
My husband and I came here as a part of our 10th Anniversary Trip. From the moment we called to make our reservation, to driving away from the property, it was a wonderful experience. When we called to reserve Melody, they asked if we were celebrating anything and said they would hang a sign for us and have champagne waiting for us in our sphere. The property is beautiful, with huge trees in every direction and a peaceful pond in the center. Melody was very comfortable and I loved feeling like I was living amongst these mammoth trees. It sprinkled rain on us all night which was actually quite relaxing and peaceful. We both loved the whole experience. The little outhouse right next to the sphere is adorable and even includes map pencils to encourage creative messages & pictures. The bathhouse is just a few steps more away and is extremely clean and modern. It includes a mini-kitchen and a cozy sauna. When we arrived, we got a little mini-tour of the property, including a glance at the newest spheres that are in the building phase in the workshop where we met Tom, the brains behind the operation. Everyone was super friendly from beginning to end. It was our favorite part of our trip and we hope to go back before we hit another 10 years. :D
