The Best Walking Tours in Bordeaux (Updated 2025)

"Offered daily, Free Walking Tours Bordeaux is the best (and most popular) free tour in town and a great introduction to Bordeaux; it lasts two hours and covers highlights including the Gothic cathedral, the Neoclassical Grand Theatre, and the Water Mirror. The guides are full of amazing recommendations for where to eat and drink, so be sure to ask for their suggestions — and remember to tip at the end." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Top class from start to finish. So much information delivered in a very pleasant and precise manner. We really enjoyed the Tour with Rosie and have no hesitation in recommending her. Well done and thanks 🙏 👍

We done a walking tour for the first time ever since we been going away (over 15 years!!!!).... and how we have missed out. It lasted for approximately 2 hours and me and the wife thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Although, the start felt slightly awkward, meeting new people, new introductions, it turned out to be the opposite. Very light hearted and good knowledge about the history of bordeaux from the guide made the tour absolutely worth while. Hanni was the tour guide and his recommendations were fantastic making our stay so much more of an experience to remember. Thanks Hanni and the Walking tour!

Despite the awful wet cold weather, Arni gave an excellent tour. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. It is a must to do this when you arrive in this beautiful city.

Our tour guide Rosie was absolutely great. She really brought the history of the city to life from its creation to the present day, Setting it in the context of what else was happening in Europe and beyond during this time. it was very lively and entertaining. I wish my history teachers when I was at school many years ago had had just a fraction of her ability to make history such a fascinating subject !

This was our first time booking through free walking tours. Luckily, for us, our guide’s was Ani, and he was excellent, extremely knowledgeable about wine, history, and points of interest …we thoroughly enjoyed him. He knew history so well and made it fun to learn about it by engaging the audience and asking questions and just had fun with us as we all tried to guess what the answer might be! he was on time very personable, fun and engaging.

Ani (sp?) was an entertaining character. He's not too serious, but knows his stuff and got it across with humour and a light touch. This tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Bordeaux. I regret not doing better in the running architectural quiz, but I did learn something from it. So thanks for that Ani. Good luck with your sommelier studies!
