the staff was very hostile for no reason and they definitely make it known that you’re not welcome there, if you’re a girl. be aware it’s dangerous and not worth the trauma

Went out for a smoke and the body guard didn’t want to let me back inside because im a girl… but the worst part is that my jacket was inside. The body guard even tried to shove the door at me to hinder me from collecting my jacket it was a nightmare and i was scared. totally unnecessary and scary how the door man behaved. I was not asking for any trouble but the door man was. Please rather find another club this place is dangerous

Google
Be aware the staff might pickpocket you. And it’s not female friendly The staff is hostile and the bar owner is is scary it’s definitely a lowlife kinda bar I wouldn’t be surprised if the staff is pickpocketing customers i i Would advise everyone to boycott this place

I had a banking emergency when I received a message saying my credit card was being used right after I used it at the club. I asked to go outside and call my bank, but for simply stepping outside the club, they barred me from re-entering. I asked to speak to the manager, but no one wanted to introduce themselves. Is this the kind of customer service you're dealing with?

Not a big bar and it’s a little bit crowded. The drink is fine. But the music is nice with lots of different types from pop to house. I love it.

I thought the death of my dog last month was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had, that was until I went to clubbing at freedj. Ridiculously crowded, no service to put away your coats at 0°C outside, but that not all. The service was one of the most traumatizing things a person can withhold in his/her life. Mean attitude and no respect for the customer. Would deeply recommend to stay in and have some soup instead.

Google
So disappointed as this was one of the nicest places. My drink was over €20 and at midnight they allowed a dog in - I am allergic so had to leave. Not to mention it smelt really bad and the bar staff were getting it to dance around. Do not care who finds it cute it is a dog at midnight in a bar/ with club music. Owner too far gone to care.

Google
3 bouncers seemed extreme, never seen that anywhere else so made me wonder if this place was that nice if it needs that level of security Anyway, we greeted them, they were pleasant, opened the door for us. Went straight to the bar to order and then one bouncer just followed us in and told us to leave. Reading the reviews now as I was curious, it’s clear it’s normal for this bar. Bouncers are regularly called out for being terrible and violent which is shocking. And even though I didn’t get as far as ordering I am glad I didn’t as it sounds like they are rude and rip people off anyway . So actually I would like to thank the bouncers for saving me money and time as I had a pleasant evening elsewhere.

Yelp
While wandering around Le Marais on a Sunday night after my friends all went home to sleep, I was told by a patron at a different bar, that if I was looking for a fun night of dancing, I needed to check out Freedj. I got there, saw a sign saying it was Sunday Mess, remembered I hadn't gone to mass that morning and decided this was the perfect alternative. The crowd in Freedj is very mixed and with a generally fun and friendly vibe. There is a wraparound bar upstairs with a smoking room behind, which is great for smokers that don't have to crowd the front entrance. Downstairs feels like a catacomb, only with a DJ dressed up as a nun, awesome music blasting and a packed dance floor full of people having a great time. Drinks were cheap and strong. Skip Notre Dame for Sunday mass and come here instead!

Yelp
The bouncer at the club claimed my friend was too drunk to enter even though he wasn't! He was rude and a jerk! Don't come here!

Yelp
I would not recommend this spot. The bar is incredibly small, the drinks are not good, & the place is dirty. In addition, the service is slow & rude. Tons of other options in Paris.

Yelp
Great vibe ! Had lots of fun . Thanks to the manager Fred and the amazing staff for a great time . Definitely a place to visit when in Paris .

Yelp
Me and my younger POCBF went several times recently on a trip and were treated rudely and stupidly by three different bartenders, the three times we went. As a professional bartender from NYC, I was unimpressed by their attitude, "service" and lack of understanding about basic drinks and simple requests.

Yelp
From the outside, all one can see is purple lights. But what lies inside is a large primary floor and bar and an excellent basement/underground dance area. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders fairly attractive. The downstairs bartender gave my friend and I free shots based on the liquor we had been drinking throughout the night, which was a nice touch. The entire night the place was crowded but the A/C worked sufficiently. I had an amazing time here and it was clearly one of the most popular gay bars in Le Marais.

Yelp
Rude! Not impressed. Had a really bad experience with one of the regulars who started a verbal fight with my friend and poor little thing was friends with the owner and proceeded to get us kicked out. The owner should think twice about allowing rude patrons to causing trouble.

Yelp
Who knew that Sunday mass could be so fun! Freedj is a rare breed in the Paris gay bar scene. The muti-level bar has a cool dance floor down in the cave where they hold Sunday night dance parties called La Messe, with DJs dressed as nuns, and glow-in-the dark rosarie beeds and candies shaped like communion wafers strewn around for people to party with. After my recent trip to Lourdes, it was the perfect tongue-in-cheek release from all of the heavy religious stuff I saw down there. I had am amazing time at Freedj, here's why: - Literally every person that works there, from the bouncer and the barmen to the adorable coat check guy was super friendly. I've never seen that many smiles on nightclub staff. Truly refreshing. - They have a fantastic happy hour with 2 for 1 beers and wine. - There's a glow in the dark babyfoot table on the ground floor. - The vibe is very silly, familial and unpretentious which made for funny conversations and interactions around the bar and dancefloor (aka I made a lot of new friends..) - This is a minor detail but it says A LOT: the coat check has an pay-what-you-want system. That's right, you can give nothing or if you're feeling super generous, throw down a tener, it's up to you. To sum up. If you're gay, go here and have fun. If you're not, that's ok, just grab a few gay friends and go here and have fun. I hear however that it gets really packed on Friday and Saturday so save your energy for Sunday mass instead.

Yelp
If I could give this club a zero I would. I have been to clubs all over the world and this By far is the worst experience I've ever had. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a rude name calling doorman . We were meeting people there otherwise I would have left. He referred to our group as "here comes the carnival " I live in Los Angeles , but my friends from Paris understood His insults. The upstairs bar was dead but the dungeon like basement was sweaty ,hot and overcrowded. The other patrons of the freedj club were friendly and fun asking us to dance and even bought us a cocktail. We had fun on the dance floor for a short time and decided it was time To leave . As we were leaving the rude unprofessional bouncer /doorman provoked a totally unnecessary situation where he verbally assaulted us again and also physically assaulted my friend pushing him off the curb onto the street injuring him. We are not violent confrontational people so we were totally shocked by the verbal and physical aggressive doorman. A police report has been filed and hopefully justice will Prevent any other violent acts against patrons.

Yelp
I guess coming from and being used to NYC bars and clubs one could be a little spoiled when coming to experience the Paris night scene. The Bar/Club was small, very crowded (Friday night) and tiny where I felt totally claustrophobic especially once I went down to the dance floor. The club had an almost dangerous spiral staircase, where people would hang around and dance, as the downstairs dance floor was congested with people. On a positive note, there was no cover charge.

Yelp
Bar #2 of the night... we spent most of the night here... no cover... not sure what drinks cost...someone bought me mine... the place was super small there was a DJ playing who was super fun! upstairs was main bar downstairs was dance floor/DJ and i think there was a bar there... the place was fun...so damn exciting dancing all night! i think we left at 4 am (when they closed) not sure if everyone was gay here...i know i got felt up by someone...so either they thought i was in drag...or it was a straight guy..hmmm... whatever. what happens in Paris gets publicized on YELP! oh ya..and they don't want you taking pictures here...i was told to put my cell phone away when i tried to take a picture of my friends! i guess that's why the Yelp page doesn't have many pics!

Yelp
So. Two gays walk into a bar and everyone turns and stares...sounds like the start of a really bad taste joke, but this is literally what happened when the Mr and I arrived here. After having a few drinks in the Bastille district, the Mr and I decided to walk back through the Marais area and check out one of the gay bars there - Freedj was the first that we came across. I'm glad it was a weeknight we came as it was all really busy - and I bet it gets heaving at the weekend! The ground-floor had a foozball table and dance floor at the back - and there's another dance area upstairs (which is where you'll also find the toilets). For quite a stylised bar, our drinks were fairly inexpensive and, aside from the initial uncomfortable stares, the atmosphere was relaxed, fun and friendly.

Yelp
Gets very pack but the people are nice and understanding and the music is great!!! They have free WiFi and two gender neutral bathroom upstairs, they have a smoking area on the middle floor. Downstairs is more for dancing

Yelp
Not so bad of a place actually. Two levels with a tiny dance floor in the basement. Drinks are actually not so bad and the bartenders are actually friendly here. The music downstairs is a bit of pop and hip hop...at least the night I came. Think it is a pretty nice place.

Yelp
I will never step into this bar again after doorman insisted that I kiss his hand for the fact I didn't speak French. When arriving I opened my jacket as that is now what is expected when entering many Parisian establishments - but then was mocked for not being able to speak French. FU - freedj!

Yelp
Overall, this is a really great bar in the Marais that is worth the stop if you are interested in gay night life while in Paris. Reasonably priced drinks, interesting crowd, great music and free WiFi. If you're there on a Sunday, head to mass and enjoy the night!

Yelp
Definitely the best bar in the Marais! Small but great. The bartenders are excellent and extremely friendly, drinks are actually good and fairly priced. Music can be hit or miss but for the most part good and all the DJs are great and just as friendly. Only problem the white old guy at the door is a grumpy ahole!!

Yelp
Had a great time, the drinks were reasonably priced, and tasted great, an amazing dance floor - downstairs and great music. There were actually 2 DJ's one on each floor the one downstairs was great, the one up stairs played horrible music and she was really rude. I wish I got her name so I warn everybody, but she wouldn't give it to me, ha. Other than her, it was a pretty good experience

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here one night because the bartender was kind of charming to us on the street. The next night we went in because we'd had a nice time the night before and the staff seemed nice and there were cute guys. My boyfriend used the bathrooms upstairs and came back followed by a guy and his two female friends who kept harassing him about using the "wrong" bathroom, despite both of them having gender neutral signs. Their "teasing" got to the point that they were pushing him, grabbing his hat and throwing it, and swearing at him. We asked them to go away and it just made them more aggressive. The bar staff did nothing, and even gave my boyfriend dirty looks for getting annoyed as this was going on. We finally asked the bouncer to tell them to leave him alone, but he just shrugged it off. It was disappointing and frustrating and ruined what started as a good night. Get staff who understand that not everyone thinks that drunk French teasing is fun. We also both speak French, so it wasn't a language barrier. Never going back again.

Yelp
I would have given this place much higher rating if it weren't for a rude doorman that wouldn't let me in the second time I tried to go there. I was on vacation with some friends and stopped in there on a Sunday night with the gay friend I was traveling with. We had a blast and found many friendly people there, a great DJ, and good drinks. The two of us found dance partners both male and female and had a wonderful time. Since we had so much fun I definitely wanted to go back for a second visit before going home. I tried to go back there on the following Friday night around 11:30 p.m. with the two women I was traveling with. The doorman was completely rude and asked us if we were lesbians. We answered honestly, even though I wasn't sure why he was asking. There was one lesbian in the group. He decided that we were "being loud" and didn't want to let us in. I tried explaining that I had been there earlier in the week but he didn't listen and rudely waved us away. There was no one to complain to as he was the only person at the door. I was very upset and disappointed that I didn't get to have a second night there. Maybe if we'd had my gay male friend it wouldn't have been an issue (?).

Yelp
Actually, this place sucks. What a living stereotype of the rude Parisian! I'm standing there with an expensive beer in my hand when this little dweeb literally shoves me with both hands to get by me. I'm 6'3", 220 lbs, he's maybe 5'4", 130 lbs! I turned to him and said "were you born in a barn?". Turns out the little wimp is a bartender in the club, which I find out after he sicks the bouncer on me. I try to explain to the bouncer (also maybe 5'6"!) that the guy just shoved me for no reason. He started cursing at me in French and telling me to get out! I told him I'd leave when I finished my beer. He goes back outside the front door. As I finish my beer I'm treated to the bartender, now behind the bar, shooting me birds. I finished my beer, as I left I told the bartender that "maybe in another life you'll be a man" and told the bouncer the old saying "those with the least power are the most likely to abuse it" Tourists stay away from this place. I'm glad I live in San Francisco!
