The 14 Best Things to Do in Charlotte

"Freedom Park is to Charlotteans what Central Park is to New Yorkers. It's where they play as children, feeding the ducks and playing on the swings in the playgrounds, and which they continue to visit as adults. The 98-acre park, which sits between Charlotte's Dilworth and Myers Park neighborhoods, has a seven-acre lake and facilities for basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, and baseball. But if you'd prefer to throw down a blanket and stare at cloud formations, there are nice patches of grass for lounging around, too." - Nancy DePalma

An incredibly beautiful park. We took pictures to celebrate my daughter and new son in-law💍 Mature trees line the water. The bridge is great for photos. There's a playground for kids. Also very dog friendly.

We’ve been going to freedom Park for over a decade. It is our favorite park in Charlotte when we’re visiting our grandparents. We love the athletic course that was funded by the Carolina Panthers. Every time we’re there, I have to time my youngest to see how fast she can finish it. The park is well kept and beautiful. There is a nice bathroom in the center that is usually clean. There’s a cool looking locomotive and a fun playground for younger kids. There’s also ample space for picnics, volleyball, soccer, and just playing around with your dogs. When my wife joins us, we just enjoy walking around the lake and taking pictures. I highly recommend it!

Classic Charlotte spot for families! Big playgrounds, walking trails, a beautiful lake, and plenty of green space for picnics. Great mix of shade and open space. Plenty of space to explore, beautiful area for a walk.

This gem of Charlotte is one of my favorite places to take a walk. A place that fills my affection for mankind. The ambiance of sharing a walk with your neighbors, the ducks, and the fresh air and turquoise water is revitalizing. Parking can be challenging but I've never not found a spot. Dog friendly, kid friendly, family friendly spot. You can find all walks or life here coexisting in blissful harmony

This is a beautiful park. It's great for walking by yourself or with your dogs. They also have playgrounds for children to play on. It also seems like a popular spot to fish because when I was there, there were multiple people fishing. The nature museum that it connects to is closed to construction. I was upset that I didn't get to visit it while I was in town. But I'm hoping next time I will be able to.

Very nice park. Its quite lively with a huge presence of vendors selling some of the most interesting stuff. They have everything from artwork, jewelry, food/drinks, and decorative products.

The park presents an awesome view of the lake (or pond... unsure, honestly). The loop that leads around takes you to a wonderful park for kids to play at. Just beyond the train lies a youth football park sponsored by the Carolina Panthers. It was great getting to see all of this and still have more to see!

Beautiful park with an amphitheatre, plenty of benches to sit by the man made 7 acres pond and watch the ducks and people stroll. There's picnic tables and grills also if you choose to make a day of it. There are trails to walk and a playground for the children.
