French Broad Adventures

Our family went on the E-bike easy mountain adventure along the French Broad River into Tennessee. We had so much fun, and the scenery was beautiful, like a postcard! Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with our group and made the trip so pleasant. I highly recommend this adventure, and we will definitely be returning in the future.

GREAT half day white water rafting trip last weekend for my sister’s bachelorette! We were a group of 9 and our guides, Pete and Kerrie, were both amazing! They were knowledgeable, skilled, and kept us entertained throughout the whole trip! Some of us were more nervous than others but we all felt safe and had loads of fun! We would definitely do this trip (or the whole day trip) again!!

My daughter and I had a blast Ziplining with TJ and Avahni! Very fun, knowledgeable, safe and personable experience. Thank you so very much for helping to make our mother daughter trip memorable!

What an amazing team dynamic with all of the instructors and staff. I went with a party of 6 and everyone had a great time as first timers with White Water Rafting. Our raft guide Sam made our experience top notch by giving us humor, great connection with communication and challenging our group with different skills on the water. You will be entertained from start to finish for sure! Loved how detailed the staff were when explaining the safety rules because it really prepared us to feel comfortable and confident when entering the raft. Would like to say thank you to the whole staff for providing an amazing time to us Florida Boys and giving us another reason to visit Marshall, NC!

What a fun day ebiking along the French Broad River through Pisagh National Forest in NC to Painted Creek through Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee. You pass wild turkey, cruise along the river, see waterfalls galore, dip in a swimming hole and more. The bikes are comfortable and easy to use. The guides, Amy & Mike accommodate all riding levels. You go at your own pace. This outfit has their act together. The site is simple, informative for payment, directions, FAQ, etc. They have your bike, helmet and optional backpack ready. You show up, put on helmet, get on bike and ride. Amy & Mike are professional, knowledgeable, skilled, engaging, fun, personable and helpful. They also offer rafting, canyoneering/rappelling, ziplining and wall climbs. Check them out. Strongly recommend

My white water rafting half day trip was wonderful. I'd had an equally great zip lining experience a few years ago with this company and they excelled again on this trip. All the staff were helpful & knowledgeable and eager to share their love of the area. Our experienced guide John took care to make it a fun & safe trip and was a wealth of info about the river, the environment and history. The two photographers who kayaked ahead were also great and knew just where to position for great pictures. I'll be taking another adventure with this company whenever I'm back in the area!

BOOK IT! My fiancé and I were debating on which company to go with for my first time white water rafting and I’m so glad that we chose them. Let’s just say I am a 33 year old woman and was nervous all day. But the moment we got on the water I could not stop smiling. Rob was an amazing guide! I feel like he made the experience even more amazing. He was very knowledgeable and gave us tips on what to do and not to do. We also had such a great group! He had us to a few tricks like rock spins and a splat rock! I never thought I’d be doing tricks my first time. We booked the 4 hour and I immediate regretted not choosing the full day tour. Next time we are definitely doing a full day. New hobby unlocked! Also I have to mention, Amy our bus driver was a champ and John did a great job keeping us entertained on our 20 minute bus ride with all of his dad jokes. Amazing! All the tour guides were so nice and friendly. I also loved how they took pictures! I know some companies do not.

Our family did a half day rafting trip with John on Tuesday. We had a great time seeing the sights, learning about the amazing river and bouncing around and off the rocks. John is a great guy and kept us all in the boat. We enjoyed hanging out with him and his entertainment on the bus was A+. My kids are begging for more and want to come back earlier in the year when the river is at its peak.

On a spared of the moment, we booked a last minute white water rafting trip with these crew and we did not regret the decision. The entire experience was outstanding, from booking over the phone, greeting upon arrival, great and convenient facilities, the trip to the launching ramp and safety briefing. Our guide SEAN, a local resident and very experienced river guy, was great and very knowledgeable. We are very pleased with the entire experience.

We had such a great time white water rafting! The experience was both exciting and fun, and the staff truly made it top-notch. Our guide was awesome--super knowledgeable, made sure we had a blast, and most importantly, kept everyone in the raft the whole time! We took a break mid-trip to cool off in the water and enjoy some snacks and drinks, which was a perfect touch. There isn't a place to store personal belongings, but locking everything in the car felt secure, and they did hold onto our keys for us. Overall, a fantastic adventure--we'd definitely do it again!

10/10 Recommend!!! We had Pete as our guide and he was great! He's got jokes for days but also takes everyone's safety very seriously!! The day started off raining but that didn't hold us back from having a great time! Thanks for such an awesome experience!!

We went whitewater rafting and our guide was Ron. We had so much fun. They were very thorough with the safety procedures. My wife was a bit worried about the youngest, bu they put her at ease. We did the half day trip and got to hit some class ll and class lll rapids. The kids got to float through a class l and jump off a rock. We will definitely be back! We'll try to be back earlier in the summer when the water is higher so it'll be a whole new adventure!

French Broad Adventures always does a top-notch job!! Reservations are easy, facilities are great, staff incredibly attentive and knowledgeable! We have rafted with them during a variety of water-levels and ALWAYS had a great time!! I highly recommend them! Plus downtown Marshall is very nearby! A cute little town with a brew-pub, coffee shop, The Old Marshall Jail and tons more!

My adult kids who were visiting & I wanted to do something exciting with them. Wow. A raft trip on the French Broad River was amazing. We had about a 1600 cubic flow/second (CFC) which I was told is really good. The entire trip was enjoyable from start to finish, the FBA ran this thing well! Good presentation, safety protocol and concern for everyone to have a great time. Our guide Grace was amazing for sure. She really knows her tradecraft!

THE BEST TIME. Jesse, our raft guide, was funny, helpful, and most importantly kept us safe. We were provided with splash gear and a good time. Lots to do and some great memories to come out of it. Would recommend!

John was an amazing guide and kept the trip "flowing"!!! He had great information to share about the areas and catered our experience to our little ones!

We had such a great time rafting today with our guide Matt. We are a group of 14 on a bachelorette weekend trip in Asheville and decided to go rafting. French Broad Adventures offers a variety of activities and specifically for the rafting there were multiple levels to choose from which was great. Matt was funny and extremely knowledgeable about the area and the outdoors in general. All the rest of the staff were also very friendly, helpful and professional. We would recommend this company 100%. Thanks for a great time!

We had a great time! Weather was bad for zipline so we had to come of course but our guide were great about it! White water rafting was fun also. Sam is a great guide!

It was a day to remember! Exciting Level 1-4 rapids, beautiful lush landscapes and a very consciencious crew. We were allowed to cool off and go swimming, a welcome reprieve from the heat. We also had a great guide- Mitchell- who gave clear instructions and kept us safe and in the boat!! We will try zip lining on Sunday which promises to be a fun filled day as well. My family and I went white water rafting with Eddy and zip lining with Vivian and Kyle! The white water rafting was really fun but definitely an arm workout. We went in the morning when the sun wasn't fully out. The views were spectacular!!! They took us down a few different rafting levels including some rapids but Eddy did a great job navigating us. We did get stuck on the rocks a few times but Eddy was able to navigate us through and at times push us off the rocks. We really appreciate how much effort he put in to keep us moving smoothly. The zip lining with Vivian and Kyle was super cool! They were super energetic and funny. They made the experience more enjoyable and fun. The views were also pretty cool but honestly the fun came with just zipping through the air so fast. Both of them did a great job at easing any nerves we all had since some of our group had never zip lined and a few got nervous. Plus, there are so many safety precautions in place. My family thoroughly enjoyed both experiences and highly recommend this company!

We took a 1/2 day river rafting trip. Everyone one on staff was great, safety first. Tim our guide was the best rafting guide we've ever had. I highly recommend French Broad Adventures, if you go ask for Tim to be your guide!

We had an amazing time this weekend w FBA! My son and I booked three different adventures for a mother- son weekend: ziplining, rafting and canyoneering. Each of the guides were engaging and fun-- Collin and Paris on the zipline, Pete on the rafting and Marz and Anya on canyoneering! Not only were they each experts in their area, they made the trip fun and educational. We learned things about edible leaves to beavers to forestry. We will be back!! Thank you all so much for helping us connect!

I was wanting to white water raft again for years. We chose this place because it was the closest to Asheville. It was fun and the staff were so chill and professional they made it worth it. The river ride is about 5 miles and there are a number of rapids and some places to swim. It wasn't enough big rapids for me but fun still the same. If you're going for the first time this is an excellent choice.

We had a blast white water rafting with French Broad Adventures! It was a cold and rainy October morning but our guide Evan made our rafting experience amazing! I would definitely come back and do more activities here when I get the chance. There's a lot of history here and driving up to the area is just breathtaking with the fall colors everywhere in late October. Worth the drive.

Took a trip to Asheville for a friend's birthday and 9 of us decided to spend the morning white water rafting. Standard rafting trip. You meet at their business location, go over standard safety measures, and then head by school bus to the river. With there being 9 of us, they split us up 5 and 4. Different groups weren't combined in rafts as a COVID safety precaution. Masks were required on the bus only but not while rafting. Rafts we're large and sturdy. Guides were friendly, funny, knowledgeable and helpful. Our particular guide was the group lead (there were 6 boats total) and she was excellent. No one fell out (someone fell out in 3 other boats) and we never got stuck (1 or 2 rafts did get caught in rocks). The trip was supposed to be 4 hours starting at 10 AM, but we started late because a group showed up late and we were done by 1:15, including bus time, so it was more like 2.5 hours or so rafting and 3 hours total. The rapids were very short 2s and 3s with long stretches of 1s. So while there were some exciting parts, overall, it was very calm. I'm going with 4 stars in spite of having a good time because there was a lot of down time. We stopped twice-once for rock diving into the river and again for an unnecessary snack. It was only 2+ hours on the river and we were all adults. We were fine. And given how short the rapids were and how calm the river was, the breaks were unnecessary. Photographer was also worthless. 6 pictures of our "group" and 5 were of the river and trees and 1 of our raft that was so far away you couldn't see us. Didn't really matter though-wasn't going to pay the photo prices anyway. Negatives aside, the guides were excellent and we had a great time. So it deserves 4 stars and it's worth spending half your day here.

Awesome day with Pistol Pete and his crew through level 3 rapids! Highly recommend for all ages. These guys know what they're doing.

This was my first time rafting and I had an incredible experience with my family a lot of that have to deal with such a wonderful tour guide, Tim. Tim was super informative and made us laugh even when I fell out, lol. Definitely recommend!

Hands down the best zip line experience for new zip liners. Jess and Naomi were so thorough and well versed on both safety and skills needed to have a wonderful experience. They know the sport well. Would not have done this with anyone else. Don't hesitate to try this. They are truly the absolute safest and best available.

4.5 Stars What a great time we had with French Broad Adventures! We used them as our whitewater rafting outfitter and they delivered. The check in process was smooth and painless. After checking in and all of the other groups in your time slot arrive you have a quick orientation meeting going over some basic rules. Don't worry about losing your car keys. They have a box to leave them in at this meeting. Afterwards you take around a 10 bus ride to the river. Our guide, one of the top guides in our trip named Cory, helped navigate us down the river. She knew how to direct us thru some pretty fun rapids! Upon completion you jump back on the bus for a 15-20 minute ride back. The gift shop carries several shirts, stickers, hats, etc to help you remember your trip. They also carry glasses straps to help keep your glasses on your face instead of the river. If rafting isn't your thing French Broad Adventures also offers a zip line, canyoneering, and a climbing wall. I want to go back!

We had a great time on our afternoon river rafting trip. Evan was a great guide and our group had the best time floating down the river and listening to Evan's stories about the river. I look forward to returning in the near future and do a full day rafting trip!

The 1/2 day trip was just the right length. We got to experience some good rapids and were guided by Jesse whose parents were both guides. He was a great help when Dad went overboard and provided nice facts as we floated downstream. Jesse recommended Big Pillow Brewing and we saw him and much of the crew as we were leaving.

My friend and I LOVED our rafting adventure with French Broad Adventures! Our guide Tim was the BEST. We are in our 60's and he kept us safe but led a thrilling ride thru the forests. 5 stars to everything about it!!

What a wonderful experience with the family, whitewater rafting. Richard was fantastic, hilarious start-to-finish, and extremely skilled. We did the half-day and had a blast with the kiddos. Highly recommend.

We did the zip and dip package and had so much fun! The zip lining did have a lot of waiting around though. The white water rafting was easily our favorite part and our raft guide, Calvin, made our trip so much better.

We absolutely loved our whitewater rafting trip with French Broad Adventures! Our tour guide Eric was fantastic, knowledgeable, attentive and did a great job guiding us through and explaining the process for those of us who had never been. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back!

Our guide, Shawn, was good. Water was perfect for my 11 year old sons first time- 2&3 rapids were thrilling yet not traumatizing. My only major complaint is that the 1/2 day was short! We left base after 10 to drive to the river and we were back to my car between 12:30; a far cry from the 3-4 hours I thought we would be out. It would have been nice if we would have warmed up/ learned to paddle on some flat river first... I would have liked more time on the water. The river is beautiful and we saw Eagle, turtles and so many butterfly!

Had my bachelorette party in Asheville and we did the Half Day Whitewater Rafting tour with Kristen. She was fun, hilarious, informative, and she really did make our more nervous girls feel comfortable! We had soooo much fun and seriously would recommend French Broad Adventures for getting the best bang for your buck!

Had so much fun! Grace and Sheila were so awesome. We came up for a weekend trip for a friends birthday and we will definitely be back!!!

So much fun!! Really great guides that are knowledgeable about not only rafting but also the history of the area. We felt completely safe the entire time and had a ton of fun. Lunch was way better than expected! I really liked that the sandwiches were made on-sight.

We booked the 5 mile rafting adventure just one day in advance. We were group of 6 and arrived 30 mins prior to check in. Do follow the directions sent in the instructions email ,we drove from Charlotte and faced no problem getting here. We were taken by bus to the rafting river place and guided properly throughout. Our guide Christian was really good and shared several information all along. This rafting 3 rapids - level 1,2 and 3. Half of the group did not know to swim which is not a problem. I recommend this as it's completely safe. In between we had a rock jumping , snack time and swimming time given - which were good activities and a nice change. Tim who guided the bus is entertaining. About the check in office - Do carry extra pair of clothes and towels . Also they do not have shower but the restrooms are clean. All in all it's a good experience!

Amazing rafting adventure with the entire team at French Broad Adventures. Our guide, Dan Stilman, was completely awesome! The family enjoyed it, learned a lot about the river and the area, he was very knowledgeable. The whole operation was clean, friendly and funny (watch out for Evan on the bus ride!) Fun day had by all!

This was my first time whitewater rafting and Evan made the experience very comfortable. The jokes were painfully amusing and plentiful. He was a wealth of knowledge regarding the area and was able to answer so many questions. We did the half day and I now wish that we had done the full day. Pricing is quite a value. Definitely ask for Evan especially if you're looking to avoid the bro boats.

An absolute blast hanging out with Amos and Shane over at French Broad Adventures. We felt safe under their watch and really enjoyed their humor and friendliness. We will definitely make this an annual event from this year forward! Had a great time - thank you! PS - also the best empanadas and tacos EVER over at the brewery nearby. DO NOT leave without a beer and a taco.

I highly recommend this company! This was our first time white water rafting and we had an amazing time! Everyone was knowledgeable, explained directions clearly, and made the experience safe and fun. Shawn and Kate in particular stood out. Shawn has the gift of gab, comedy and entertainment. He made the trip to and from the river engaging and fun. Our amazing guide was Kate. She gave us clear instructions, was open and genuine, and highly skilled. I was a bit scared, but she totally put me at ease. Remembering all of our names was also a nice touch. We lost an Apple watch on the trip, so definitely be cautious with valuables!

We had a great half day rafting with Eric! The river is beautiful and Eric was a great guide who made the experience really fun! I highly recommend booking your whitewater rafting trip with this company.

Very fun rafting trip only downfall is it was a bit busy! Views were amazing going down the river!

**Non Swimmers Rafting** 4.15.18 Okay so I don't know how to swim lol. I grew up doing lazy rivers and living my best non swimming life in the 4ft and under pools lol. I asked my bf if he wanted to go WWR for his birthday as a joke thinking he'd say no....but he didn't. So i was petrified lol. He wanted to go so bad so I bought the 5 mile tickets with lunch anyway. (If you have AAA use that 10% discount and it comes out to be the same price as the trip without lunch.) So days before the trip my bf says we should have a blast and asks why I'm so scared if we have life jackets and a seatbelt. *tire screeching sound* this crazy boy thought there were seatbelts on the raft! No wonder he was so down to do it! Plus they're no longer called life jackets since they don't guarantee life, they're personal flotation devices now. How comforting lol. Fast forward to the morning of....the weather prediction was 100% rain and 48 degrees. I woke up dreading this event. After this was all over my boyfriend told me I scared him with how quiet and phased out I was the morning of; just staring into the distance. But who wouldn't be, knowing you can't swim and the weather is mirroring your feelings! Lol So the actual experience was pretty cool I must say. I'd definitely go again. It was rainy but not storming as the weather predicted. And to top it all off we never fell overboard lol. So of course I loved that. It was just my beau and I plus the guide so that was cool. I was worried it would throw off the balance but clearly it didn't. Also he's a bigger guy and I'm a bigger girl so if you're worried about your weight it should be fine! The lunch was GOOD. I was expecting some basic ahh food I must say lol. But it was delightful and that hummus: OH MY. it's from some vegetarian place in Star mills and it will rock your world. I'm not even a hummus person. (Although maybe I am now). **Ed is such a great guy. He really helped motivate me to go from selecting the calm water experience to the full on WWR. He's hilarious too. ***dont forget to tip your guide. The photographers weren't there the day we went and I NEEDED. A picture to prove I had actually done this lol. So our guide took a pic with his phone; so of course his tip was good! ;)

Went there today and Shawn was our guide. He did a great job telling stories and informing us about the rules of the river. I've been on a few trips with others but these guys are pro, from the checkin, the loading, drive to the site and the trip itself. I'd go again in June when the water is up!
