"Shanghai has always been China’s most cosmopolitan city. After the first Opium War (1839–1842), the city was divided into foreign concessions and entered a golden age, with a thriving nightlife scene, an active film industry, and a booming economy. In the period during which the Japaneseinvaded Shanghai in World War II and afterwards whenthe People’s Republic of China was founded, most of the concessions disappeared—the French Concession is the only one that retains its old name. Its quiet streets are still lined with imported London plane trees, and its regal houses, in architectural styles like French and Spanish Renaissance and art deco, are still intact. This is the perfect neighborhood to take in what remains of Old Shanghai."
Incredible architectural contrast. Must see neighbourhood, a gem of a district. Good for a walk and for food crawl

Nothing much happening here. The only location worth visiting in this area is the "Sinan mansions"
Better to go before it gets dark

Lovely little place with French architecture buildings. Very interesting cafes and bars and restaurants with quite lot of shops selling perfumes clothes etc. A great place to unwind. The place has a relaxing chill vibe to it. Loved it.

This is a huge area with lots of old western architecture. I'd recommend catching a cab through the area and stopping if you see something interesting. Or rent a bike!

Love the area, less than 10 minutes walk from my hotel. There are a lot or small boutique shops, cafes & restaurants around. You will see some blogger dressing up in winter coat during summer time posing around the area, very interesting.
