French Hotel

Stumbled upon this hotel in 2022, it was a decent stay and very clean. Intended to come back but it always booked out. Managed to secure a room this Christmas and it is indeed well maintained until today, rooms are very clean. Kudos and thanks to all the staff who kept the place so well maintained and comfortable. Strategic location as well. They have a nicely self made map showing you popular destination and eateries. Highly recommended.

Housed, next the historic former Lido Theater, The French Hotel offers a perfect base for travelers looking to immerse themselves in Ipoh’s rich culture, food & traditions. Its strategic location puts you within walking distance of popular local eateries & just a short drive from major attractions & shopping malls. The room was spacious & clean with well-maintained & comfortable modern bathroom & toilet. Take note that most rooms were of windowless design which is ideal for light sleepers, but best to set an alarm to avoid oversleeping! Hotel staff were polite & friendly. A security guard was posted at the main entrance, adding an extra layer of reassurance for guests. Guests Parking is available at the open space in between the former Lido Theater & Cathay Theater (now Warung Theater by Nifayyi). Important Parking Tip: Please note that the roads surrounding the hotel (Jalan Lim Bo Seng & Jalan Horley) are closed on Sundays for the morning market. Avoid parking there over the weekend to prevent inconvenience.

Area is a little shady but the hotel is nice, nicer than the two star rating it has. |Check-in was smooth, although I am not used to leaving a deposit. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Have a small coffee maker and a couple of free bottled waters. |I paid a few bucks extra for room with a window. Sunlight is nice but no view to speak of. |About a 15 min walk to old town.

The French Hotel was a fantastic, convenient stop! Check-in was smooth, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Getting a flexible late check-out at 12:00 was a major bonus, too! The location is great, especially for travel, as it's right near the train station. In the room, the essentials were top-notch: hot and cold water were available, and the water pressure was very good for a refreshing shower. The bathroom lighting was bright, and there was ample sink space for all my toiletries. While the bed comfort was just okay, it was perfectly acceptable for a few nights. The room was equipped with a handy fridge and adequate UK-type electrical outlets. (I didn't test the TV, so I can't comment on that!) Highly recommend it for its excellent service and convenience.

The place seems to have been renovated, so every thing is working well. We were in room 205. There is no molding in the bathroom, so that is a sign. The A/C is very cold, and it doesn't matter how you set the temperature. The rain shower faucet seems not work properly cause it took has a while to figure out how to make it work. Then, it was a mission to stop it. The only big complain is that on Agoda the room description states separate shower and bathtub, but that is not true.

Very very impressed with the hotel's amenities. The room is clean and well kept. Location is about 10 to 15 mins walk to night bazaars and to Ipoh Parade shopping centre. There s a few coffeshops nearby too.Will definitely choose this hotel again if I visit Ipoh in the near future.

The location is great, walking distance to lots of kopitiam, chicken rice shop, mamak restaurants, Malaysian food and dim sum house.The room is decently clean and spacious. Beds and pillows were comfortable, most necessary amenities were provided except for the tooth brush (wonder why)Parking is free, located outside a Malay restaurant, about 3 mins walk.Highly recommended

We chose this place at random because the affordable price for a family of 4. Little did we know that it was close by to many of Ipoh's attractions and eatery. The best part is, Lokien is just downstairs behind the building! Ipoh Parade is also in walking distance. Will definitely choose this place again when we come to Ipoh.

This was our second stay at the French Hotel in Ipoh, in Perak. The rooms have always been clean; we have chosen the corner room which has its entrance far away on a separate corridor from the bedroom area and its quiet. Convenience store downstairs and located close to dining (Ipoh chicken and beansprouts) and lots of kelapa biskut places. Ipoh Parade is within walking distance. The only negative: on our last day (we spent 4 days there), the front desk person actually asked us to pay for a refresh of towels - which we made a fuss about - and ended up not having to pay. Its little things like that, that can sour an otherwise positive experience.

We made a reservation on Booking.com at 140 ringgit per room per night, breakfast not inclusive, and stayed for 2 nights. Prior to arrival, I had emailed the hotel and response was prompt. On arrival, Wenesa provided a map of the surroundings and gave good advice on where we should eat. The room was clean and comfortable. Basic amenities like towels, soap and hairdryer are provided but not slippers and toothbrushes (though they gave me a complimentary one). The location is central and within 10-15 minutes walking distance to the popular eateries and old town. It's also about a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport which should cost about 25-30 ringgit. It's curious the corridor smelt of cigarette smoke though it's a non smoking hotel. Thankfully the rooms were alright.

This is our home away from home when having a short foodie holiday in Ipoh. Large clean rooms, great location and super friendly staff make this a great value for money place to stay.
