How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Universal Studios Hollywood

Google
very good caramel frappuccino would 100% recommend if u love sweet with a slight coffee taste. prices r high tho

Google
A. It opens at 9 am not 10 am, so you can get your early morning coffee kicks. B. How delightful restauranteur honoured us with a free banana (extra large). Bravo!

I got the chocolate spiral croissant. I thought it was kind of expensive (~$10) and wasn't expecting it to be cold. The filling inside was good but not enough of it. I liked the top half of the croissant because of the chocolate and the cookies, but the bottom half was a chore to eat. I had no issues with service staff.

Google
The food here is actually pretty good, the prices perhaps not as much. For two sandwiches and a refill it was $35, even for theme park prices that’s pretty high. They have a few sandwiches and pastries in here, going with the French theme. Picked up a caramel macchiato and it was just ok, perhaps needed a bit more caramel. Price on the coffee was reasonable, also picked up a chocolate croissants and it had real good flavor. There always seems to be plenty of seating in here, staff is pretty friendly as well. Overall a good experience, just a little much on the wallet.

Google
Got the strawberry chocolate crepe — it was inedible. It didn’t have any fresh strawberries, and it didn’t have any Nutella. It was just strawberry jam in a crepe… so disappointing. The mocha was subpar. It didn’t have any sweetener so we asked for sweetener and they said no.

Google
I'm not giving 5 star bc of the food. Its good enough, yes its overpriced. - Yes, they run out of things often. However, if you need a coffee and don't want to brave Starbucks, this is a great stop. Everytime we've been in here the line is short and there is available indoor seating. Its kind of our secret take-a-break spot. The staff has always been kind.

Google
Terrible place — I absolutely do not recommend it. The coffee was awful, and the brownie I bought was completely inedible, as if the recipe was totally wrong. I tried to return it, but they told me there was no manager available. I waited a long time, but no manager ever showed up, and I didn’t get a refund either. This is unacceptable customer service. I’m extremely disappointed!

Google
Coffee latte contains only milk. Crepes are small , not cooked well. On the picture looks different.

Yelp
Love the Mocha Latte at French Street Bistro inside Universal Studios Hollywood on the upper lot. The baristas are all great and friendly. They provide excellent customer service. They also make delicious lattes and espresso drinks. French Street Bistro is our go to place for coffee drinks whenever visiting Universal Studios Hollywood. This place also serves pastries and sandwiches. They have plenty of dining tables for seating.

Yelp
Once you are inside the park at Universal City, your dining options are limited. Every one of the food spots is basically a quick dine and go place, which is understandable. When you spend $150 pp for a day at the park, you are not going to waste it eating! I love French food, so we decided to grab a quick lunch at French Street Bistro. The menu options (see my photo) were decent, with a number of vegetarian items. We got a seat easily, the service was quick, the place was clean and bright and conveniently located near a few attractions we wanted to take in. The reason for a 4 instead of 5 (and remember, I rate things relative to their category, location, and genre; clearly a 4 here is not like a 4 in Paris, right?) is that the food was good but pedestrian and there was little attempt made to create atmosphere as there was at another of the park restaurants, which I have already reviewed. Surely they could have done a bit more to make it seem French. All in all, we were happy with it. I had soup, a quiche, and a sandwich. I had iced tea and it was all able to be wrapped up in less than 20 minutes, so we could move on. There is really nothing wrong with it and nothing memorable either. The best dining is on City Walk, so plan you dinner accordingly.

Yelp
The French Street Bistro is a quick service location located on the upper lot in Universal Studios Hollywood Studio. It's near the Secret Life of Pets ride and Minion Mayhem, Despicable Me. I was looking through the Universal Studios Hollywood application for some sweet treats. I noticed that the French Street Bistro had some Macarons! After riding the Secret Life of Pets ride, my husband and I stopped by the French Bistro. The French Bistro didn't have any customers inside on a cold, Thursday afternoon. Looking through their menu, it looked like they had a lot of pre-made selections from artisan sandwiches and gourmet salads. Some of their other alternatives include Muffins and Cookies. This restaurant does have a variety of dietary options though, which is great! Gluten Free Options Vegetarian Options Peanut-free Options Dairy-Free Options Their Macaron flavors were limited. When we asked the team member they had Pistachio, Salted Caramel, Chocolate available. We ended up choosing 2, one of the Salted Caramel and the Chocolate flavor. It was less than $5.00 for both Macarons. The team member provided them in a small bag. My husband and I decided to split them inside the restaurant. Both Macarons were cold. The Salted Caramel was my favorite. It was packed with flavor and you could taste the caramel, but it wasn't over powering. I didn't particular enjoy the chocolate Macaron. It was a dark chocolate and the flavor profile was extremely strong! Both filings weren't smooth, but more of a Jello like consistency. Overall though, considering other dessert prices in the park, the Macarons are a great inexpensive option if you're looking for a small sweet treat!

Yelp
Not sure if it was part of the whole "French theme" or just a poor attempt at embodying the stereotype, but the cook at the French Street Bistro at Universal Studios Hollywood really nailed the part--rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in making a decent sandwich, let alone providing any form of hospitality. If that's what they were going for, congratulations. Mission accomplished. Unfortunately, the attitude was more memorable than the food.

Yelp
Hands down the best dining at Universal Studios Hollywood outside of Moulin Rouge (VIP Experience). Love the grab-and-go options or even the prepared options. The vegetarian quiche was delightful and something I will get if I return to Universal Studios. They also have a cafe, so skip the long Starbucks line to grab a caffeinated beverage here. The service is very friendly, and they have both indoor and patio seating. Great food + comfortable seating makes for a great experience when you are in the park. Bon Appetit!

Yelp
Got cafe latte. The order was not whoever gets ordered first. Waited long enough to go and ask for my drink. My latte was super pale. And i got it anyway thinking it was not mixed yet. But after a sip and shake, it tasted just like iced milk. Went back to get one more shot, they offered but the shot itself was so diluted.

Yelp
Was looking for to a Lorraine Quiche but unfortunately they were out of quiches today? We settled for a chocolate croissant which for $6 was okay. Unfortunately this place was pretty dirty and the tables hadn't been cleaned from multiple patrons.

Yelp
The 99 cent macrons are steal in my opinion but they are pretty bite size and taste more "jelly" filled. But a great easy treat if want a quick sweet dessert. I wish they had more outdoor seating as it's such a cute area. The quiche was just OK in my opinion nothing too memorable.

Yelp
California club sandwich $12.99 Turkey croissant sandwich $12.99 They give you mayonnaise and mustard upon request.

Yelp
Literally the worst coffee I've ever had. Lady at the counter charged me for a frappe when we wanted lattes so an extra $3 and was not trying to refund for the difference or anything (she ended up not refunding us the difference) and then when we got our lattes they all tasted like just steamed milk. Threw it away immediately and wasted $19.

Yelp
Besides the Three Broomsticks and Krusty Burger (if you're in a certain mood), there isn't much in the way of good food inside Universal Studios park. And both of those places are usually packed. French Street Bistro is like most of the food outlets here in that it doesn't offer freshly made food. It's pre-packaged food in a cold case. There is a vegetarian option (only 1 - a mozz and tomato sandwich on sub bread), a few salads and some sides or snacky items like yogurt and not lovely fruit. It's not an inspired selection. I wanted soup. It was a cold day. And they do have soup. It's clam chowder. They ask if you want a "cup or a bowl" and since I was only eating soup, I asked for a bowl. What I didn't know was that they meant a bread bowl, which I did not want. It looks like the AMOUNT of soup is the same - it's just the serving method that varies... so if you don't want bread, order a cup of soup. Or don't. Because it's not very good and tastes like canned. But hey - it was expensive! $9.50 for a small amount of soup and a very small-ish bread bowl... this is NOT like Panera so don't be thinking that. It's tiny. Unless you want to brave the crowds at Broomsticks or Krusty, your best option for a light meal or snack inside Universal is sadly, Starbucks.

Yelp
Horrible food and service. Kevin at the counter was so not interested in customer service. Plain bland poor service - that explains no customer in the shop.

Yelp
This is a really nice little Bistro in the heart of Universal Studios. We came by just before closing and the workers were still happy to serve us. The place screams "French Bistro" with the artwork, layout, atmosphere, food options, hell they even have FRENCH MUSIC!! You can't even find a French Restaurant in LA playing French music! This is a huge plus and we loved it. I ordered a hot mocha and it was great - hot, smooth, light, not too chocolatey, and good coffee. We shared some pastries, the chocolate covered croissant was alright, decent croissant but the chocolate was a bit too sweet. The lemon bundt cake was good but the icing on top made it too sweet also. Nice place to relax and unwind while at the park

Yelp
We were hungry and really didn't have too many options inside the park. There were huge lines at every other food place but this one but the sandwich was good! It was very simple and only two ingredients but it tasted good heated up and was exactly what we needed because we didn't feel sick afterwards. It was super expensive but you can expect that being in the park. Definitely not worth the price, but not a bad choice for a quick park lunch.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. You're paying for expensive, tasteless mush. If you really are looking for a good meal, try Three Broomsticks otherwise you will be left unsatisfied. Only go here for snacks like fruit, pickles or small sweets.

Renee T.

Yelp
Toni is amazing!! She went out of her way to make our time here perfect. She is so kind and it is people like her that makes me want to come back. She made sure that our order was right and asked if we needed anything else.

Yelp
Located at Universal Studios, near the Animal Actors area. Being at a themed park, I know it can be hard to find healthy food but I really wanted a salad and this place seemed like it would be able to provide that for me. My husband and I walked inside and waited in line. The salads and cold sandwiches are in the refrigerated shelf in which you are free to grab. I ended up deciding to get the Thai Salad ($10.99 prior to tax, or $11.98 after). I was sorely disappointed with this salad, as it looked nothing like the picture on the wall (I was hungry and on the verge of becoming hangry... and doped myself into believing the photos... never make decisions when you are hungry/ hangry because I guarantee you will not make a good one). This salad didn't have very much vegetables, which was a disappointment to me. It was comprised on noodles in some kind of an Asian dressing (there was also some kind of thick (it was kept in the fridge and should have been heated prior so that it would have a pour- able consistency and not a dipping consistency) peanut sauce kept on the side), a small amount of edamame, spicy and horrible tasting kimchi, small amount of sliced red bell peppers and some shredded lettuce (the kind used in cole slaw). Although I was full after eating this salad, I really wished I had picked another salad from the fridge (or have gone somewhere else to get lunch). This meal was a waste of calories and definitely "meh", thus my 2 star rating. There is limited seating inside this bistro eatery. There is also some outdoor seats but it was raining the day we came to Universal Studios. So we left and ended up finding covered, indoor seating inside Mel's Diner (where my husband got a burger, which was also pretty "meh" too). I would recommend to skip this place (any anything else in this park) and just get your hand stamped to return back to the park and grab some lunch out at Universal City Walk.

Yelp
The lines were long at this place. But, they moved fast. I am not a fan of park food, but we really enjoyed this place as it was the "healthiest" of the food options around. - Chicken Ceasar salad: we really enjoyed this salad. It was the last one too! - Croissant sandwich: very yummy sandwich with sprouts and a side of grapes. - Cup of fruit: refreshing and delicious. The place was clean and the workers were fast and friendly.

Yelp
Really good food! Salads are all gluten free and delicious! It's expensive, but everything is inside! Usually not too crowded compared to some of the other restaurants so it's a good place to go to!
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
Only got a coffee frappucino, which was good, but there was a variety of sandwiches and salads that looked pretty good. They also have seating inside and outside.
google avatar

Matthew K.

Yelp
Okay, the food is 7/11 quality and variety, but remember this: you're in Universal Stidios and they serve alcohol and let you open carry thru-out the park. This is quite the difference from Disneyland. There you have to tram it to the hotel for a drink. At the Studios drinking is Universal.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
It has pre made food so you don't get to chose stuff they advertise and if you want extra dressing or a different one you are out of luck so I don't recommend it unless you don't care.

Maya L.

Yelp
I'm reviewing this eatery based on the fact that they are located in Universal Studios Park...meaning we all expect sub-par quality at exorbitant prices.... If I received this quality food a regular french bistro, it would be sub-par. But here where fried food junk and other gross unpalatable offerings are your options, this little bistro located in the France/UK section is an excellent find...with actual decent prices! Caesar Salad with good chicken and a whole boiled egg: $10.99 We won't go into pasture raised/non-GMO/organic. It is totally fresh/delicious/enjoyable enough. Roast beef and swiss cheese baguette sandwich: baguette was yummy, balance of meat to cheese totally French, totally fresh. $10.99 Clam Chowder in a cup: ok way too salty. mega. but otherwise thick and chunky. Get this: $2.99!! Cheap!! Chocolate dipped croissants: impulse purchase based on how awesome they looked. Yum. $3.99. The place is clean, room, and pleasant. Great place to rest your weary feet, recharge, eat, then tackle that Harry Potter ride line!

Yelp
All I had here was the decadent Brownie and boy was it delicious. It must of weighed at least a pound. Very moist and soft. All I was missing was my soy milk to wash it down my gullet. I ate it on their outside patio. It was a very beautiful setting in their little French quarter. $3.30 and it's big enough for two. I got the last one too, it was serendipitous.

Yelp
I just want to clarify that by giving this 4 stars, I'm not in any way comparing it to other 4 star meals I've had at real restaurants. But for what it is - overpriced food in a theme park - it was JUST what my mom and I wanted. While my dad and husband ate sausage sandwiches and turkey legs with fries, I got a massive Cobb salad that was surprisingly fresh and really filled me up. Sure it was like, $10 or something (maybe $11?) but you're at Universal! If you don't want something fried while you're there, this is probably your best bet.

A P.

Yelp
This was terrible. My husband and I got two different salads and they were horrid. His chicken was so dry and hard he could barely stick his form through it. My salad was wilted under the newer leaves on the top, like they were trying to hide older salad under new salad. My salad dressing was so gelatinous and weird tasting I just didn't use most of it. The little bit I ate tasted so filthy I am worried I'll get food poisoning from it

Amir N.

Yelp
I asked 3 times for easy ice in my ice coffee to finally get my order having more ice than coffee in it. When I asked the guy he said if he puts less ice he will NOT put more coffee so the cup will be half empty!!! $6 for half empty cup of coffee!
