Frenchgate Guest House

My wife and I stayed here for the first time on our way home from a trip to visit relatives. We were met by Jennifer who runs it and received a really warm and friendly welcome. ||The house itself is on a quiet cobbled street just out of the town centre within easy walking distance of everything Richmond has to offer.||The room was large and the bed a super king size. Extremely comfortable. The en suite is very nicely appointed with a walk in rain shower and spotlessly clean. Everything had been prepared meticulously.||There is an impressive selection of breakfasts prepared to order. Simply tick your selection and preferred time of breakfast on the form provided the night before and leave it at reception.||I can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be staying there again on our travels.

“The best view in Richmond” is entirely accurate for this B&B. Not only was the view from the breakfast room absolutely breathtaking, the couple who runs it were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. I stayed there with 2 friends for a night while doing the Coast to Coast walk. Not only did they allow us to check in a bit early we when showed up earlier than anticipated, they helped us get laundry done (a first, on our trip) and provided us with ice for bad knees and a great suggestion for a dinner location. They saw us off in the morning with a delicious breakfast. The beds were soft and the rooms lovely. I can’t overstate how strongly we recommend staying here if you’re in Richmond.

The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.|Jennifer at the Frenchgate bed&breakfast is incredibly helpful. We felt well taken care of. We wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this BnB while walking the Coast to Coast. It was a convenient location for the walk, and the hosts were wonderful! The rooms were comfortable and the view from the breakfast room / back windows was beautiful!

Fantastic place, only a few minutes away from the centre of town. Rachel and Mick are perfect hosts. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend anyone coming to Richmond to book Frenchgate Guest House 👍

We had a wonderful weekend stay at 66 Frenchgate for my 60th Birthday!|We were greeted warmly by Rachel who showed us to our room.||Room 4 had the most fabulous views made even more fabulous by the snow which had fallen before we arrived. The room was warm, cosy, very clean and very nicely decorated and had the most comfortable bed. Rachel brought us fresh milk for tea and 2 mince pies which were much appreciated.||Breakfast is ordered the evening before with lots of choice. Breakfast is served in a very light and airy room with views as far as the eye can see, a perfect start to the day. Breakfast is delicious and nicely cooked.| |The hosts Rachel and Mick are so lovely and nice to chat to, talked about all sorts of things over breakfast! Very knowledgeable of the area and gave us tips on where to visit. Even found a birthday card and chocolates on the bed when we came back from our day discovering Richmond.||Richmond is a wonderful place to visit with lots to see and do. We would recommend visiting and would very highly recommend 66 Frenchgate.||Ecky thump, thank you Rachel and Mick for making my birthday weekend a special one!|

Worst night sleep ever , cheap mattress, and pillows, , telly didn’t work , owner’s attitude was rude and aggressive, told on arrival that we had to order an early breakfast as they had a family wedding, I had rung to book , nothing was mentioned, he got very aggressive at my comments , and the biggest joke is trying to find Georgian details , in a completely soulless bedroom , nope I do not recommend this place , best bit was the sausage at breakfast, DO NOT TRUST THE PICTURES ON THEIR SITE
