"Hike to a Hideaway Frenchman's Cove is more than a beach. It's an idyllic escape. After paying a small entrance fee—used to preserve the grounds—you'll hike about five minutes through verdant gardens flanked by an emerald river stream, before the views open onto a glorious beach and the Caribbean Sea. This cove was once a favorite romantic escape for Elizabeth Taylor and Burt Reynolds, and it's not hard to see why. When you tire of the beach and waves, hop over to the river and swing from the vines into the fresh water. It's an ideal spot to spend the day, for couples or for families."

It is a wonderful beach. Such a beauty. I cannot explain by words. Mountain water meets the sea at this beach. So there is a river and a sea to swim in. And very clean, calm with a beautiful landscape. I strongly suggest you to go there. Entrance fee:2500J$. If you want a loungechair, it is an additioanal 300J$ but honestly chair is not really necessary because sand is very soft and clean.

Honestly wasnt a bad experience, entrance fee was reasonable but maybe eat before or after cz portions arent as large as you think they would be… around midday the beach isnt really calm but the river was amazing.

One of Portland's most prized gems, Frenchman Cove is. I will say that it's one of the more unique beaches, due to it having both the beach and a river mixed in it. Being that this beach has it's reputation to keep up they don't slack off at all when it come to maintenance. The environment is clean all round. The beach area was nice, though I found it to be a bit too shallow to truly enjoy. The river was what I actually liked, I found myself spending more time there. I enjoyed the fact that there was the option of both bodies of water. They do provide lawn chairs, but it's at an additional cost, which I found dissappointing given the cost to enter. Food is sold there, but I didn't purchase any. So I can't say anything on it's quality. It has gotten more expensive over years with it now being 2500 JMD for locals. I don't think it has to be for that price but I dont make the rules here. All n all, still a wonderful prestine beach...

We spent a whole day at Frenchman Cove, and we had an awesome time. The property is beautiful with a lot of trees, especially fruit trees. There is a river on the property that meets the sea, which is pretty awesome. You can swim in either one. I enjoyed the river water more than the sea water because I was under the shades of the tree while I swam in the water. But I must say that the river water was very cold. The sea water was warm, salty, and had a lot of waves that my hubby enjoyed. The food wasn't bad at all. We had jerk chicken and festivals. Overall, it was a great experience.

Beautiful beach. We paid 25 dollars p.p to access the beach and if you want a old lond chair to relax you need to pay extra. I strongly recommend to arrive early. When we arrived there were only 2 cars and the beach and river was calm and private. Le Pirates Cafe is at beach and a good option to drink cold bear e eat bammys. But try to order your food before everybody does. And last but not least advice.. if you are in Port Antonio you have to visit Frenchmans Cove. But if you are from South America or Spain or Portugal, and you are not in Port Antonio, probably you had access to similar beaches in the past and I wouldn’t do this travel just to visit Frenchmans cove.

The beach was clean with ample shade for lounging. It costs JMD$300 to rent a lounge seat but it is worth it. Entrance to the beach costs JMD$2000. The waves do get rough so be cautious of that but there is a section with a river if you prefer the calm. The downsides are the bathrooms aren't kept clean, and you can't carry your own food or drink to the beach and no igloos either. However, food and drinks are offered on the beach at a cost.
