Criminally underrated! A quaint gem on an otherwise bustling street. Stumbled upon this book store at 9 PM on a Wednesday. Excellent curation covering gender, sexuality, queer identity, race, music, NOLA history, labor, politics, community and so much more, with plenty of art! Good for gifts.

Small but very interesting book store. Lots of fun books and unique items. Highly recommended!

I've frequented many Nola area bookstores & this one is by far, one if not the best, there is! IMO! Unique, FUN selection, & really great locals collection. SO many fun things to look at! Really enjoyed my chat with the shop keep, too!

We visit Frenchman Book Store every time we go to NOLA (2-3 x year). It’s a gem! An independent bookstore on a street filled with traditional jazz. A visit here is refreshing, a calm and beautiful atmosphere.

When I wandered in late on a weeknight, while my friends were being lame, I had a lovely experience here! I bought several books! One that I had planned to buy eventually anyway? And the other two were by local writers and recommended by the staff when I asked after books about local lore. I signed up for the mailing list and I THINK I received a gift later. Can’t say FOR SURE it was from them, but…I can’t think of anyone else who would have sent it. Clearly addressed to ME, but I definitely didn’t order it. If I’m right, I bet the staff who did it will confirm. ☺️ The employee who helped me may have been the owner and we were VIBING. 🤣

Do not waste your time going into this store before you even walk in the lady in the front is very rude telling you if you do not sanitizer your hand you cannot come in. Nothing in the store is worth looking at or buying. This store is also promoting violence against the president of the United States. This store needs to be shut down ASAP.

This bookstore is a Frenchman Street institution. I always buy something there just to make sure it stays in business. The staff are super wonderful and helpful. They’ve got a ton of local authors and guidebooks about all the cool things you wanna know about New Orleans.

Very cute bookshop, not sure why people are freaking out so much about their rules, they’re a small shop on Frenchman street, I think it makes a ton of sense that they’d need to be extra careful to keep their books clean, etc. with the hand sanitizer. Good book selection and really inspiring vibes in dark times ❤️
