This market physically is wheelchair accessible.
Unfortunately they also are hostile towards customers in wheelchairs.
Additionally, like another review indicates, they are misrepresenting the prices and will not give an itemized receipt.
THE POSITIVES:
1. The produce looks very fresh.
2. The shopping area outside the shop is wheelchair accessible. Also they have a nice ramp access with the door wide open. Im interested to see how they handle the entrance in the winter because I dont see an automatic door opener button. Without that, entering might be challenging, especially if the door opens outward.
THE NEGATIVES:
1. A few minutes after I placed 2 packs of plums in my basket one employee called the cashier to come out to me.
Immediately she took the basket from me and wanted to bring it inside.
When I told her Im not finished choosing what Im planning to purchase, she decided to hold my basket and stand in front of me, watching me.
I asked her why I cant have the shopping basket back to put more produce in it.
She just stood there, holding my basket and staring at me.
Other customers did not have anyone follow them, taking their baskets.
I had to ask her for the 3rd time if I can have the basket back or does she expect me to get a 2nd basket for the rest of the produce I was purchasing.
Eventually when I was ready to pay, came the financial "shady business".
I purchased 2 items at $2.99 each. 1 at $5.99, and 2 at $3.50 each. Which should amount to aprox. $19.
They charged me $32.20
When I requested the receipt, they only gave me the confirmation slip showing my bank approved the charge of $32.20.
Most certainly I will never return to Fresh Picked.
I do not appreciate having employees clearly treat me as if I was going to rush off with the $6 of produce in my basket, at the time they decided its acceptable to grab my shopping basket, stand directly in front of me (preventing me from moving), watching me at the cost of leaving the cash unattended.
All while other customers freely shopped without scrutiny.
Although physically this store is accessible, I can not in good conscience recommend them for anyone in a wheelchair.
This type of surveillance of the only disabled customer, while the others freely fill their baskets without scrutiny, is beyond an acceptable.
This was blatantly discriminatory behaviour.
