Fresque des Lyonnais

A very beautiful, quite real feeling that those personalities are standing there. Even the impression that you can walk inside, hahaha. I definitely recommend it for watching.

Lovely pictures across the city !

This beautiful mural was painted by CitéCréation collective in 1995 and represents 24 historical characters of Lyon, like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry or Lumiere Brothers and 5 contemporary characters, like Paul Bocuse. The mural is on the back wall of the building on a quite narrow street, so it's difficult to take a full picture of it.

We did a nice walk along the Saône River to this fantastic public art homage to the great personalities of Lyon.

This mural of famous Lyonnaise people looking out of windows is captivating. The world would be a better place if every city showed some pride in its famous sons and daughters and had a mural this.

Incredible level of detail at this impressive mural of many notable people from Lyon. Highly recommend as visit! There's also another huge library mural nearby at Rue de la Platiere.

Unique facade showcases the daily life in Lyon. Good photo opps and we took a bunch of photos there. It's great during winter time there's not many other tourist around so pretty much had the whole facade for the time we were there!

This is a beautiful fresque in Lyon. It is huge, depicting a building with many important historical figures. It's close to the river and a must-see if you're in the city.

My second summer in Lyon (2004), I had my Thursdays completely free for exploring, while my counterparts had to be at work. So I started by going to the far points on the metro and wandering by the river. That's how I came across this amazing work. This fresco is so well done that if you're not looking closely, you think those windows are real. It's not until realize that there's someone on practically every balcony at the same time that it suddenly hits you that this is a painting. And then you realize that some of the faces are familiar. As an American tourist, some of the faces will be harder than others, but there are plenty of clues. And, I believe there's a "guide" that you can get at the tourist office that explains who everyone is. This is good to see at the beginning of your trip, since it can help you decide who you want to learn more about. It's also good at the end of your trip, since you should recognize more people if you've spent any time in museums or learning the history of the city. #Yelp365 - 190/365
