I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay at FBGH. Even before arriving here, I had spoken with Chris over the phone to discuss the best choice of rooms for my girlfriend and I. He proved to be straightforward and affable, which was a perfect reflection of our stay.
We ended up staying in one of the private Full-size rooms on the third floor. Our room was neat and tidy, had plentiful choices for blankets, was finished in lovely greens, and we had two towels waiting for us on the bed (we'd forgotten to bring them, which Chris and his wife seemed to know psychically). Our shared areas (bathroom, kitchen, and living area) were all just as spotless and well-maintained. The dishwasher was out at the time, but my hands were working just fine. There were some nice overstuffed chairs and couch in the common area with a choice of board games, puzzles, and books. Aside from Friday and Saturday night, when pretty much all of Portland is out having a good time, the whole third floor was serene.
While there, we met a host of folks from around the world, each of them as pleasant as the next. Never once did I feel unsafe or that my valuables were in danger of being swiped. Instead, an instant camaraderie was formed with everyone we bumped into. Chris was always available through phone or text, though I never had any issues to report.
If you're looking for a great, relaxing stay away from the generic, sterile rooms of the major chain hotels and would like the chance to meet and interact with people of the same ilk, don't even bother looking anywhere else.
