I feel compelled to express my deep dissatisfaction with the consistently declining quality of service and products at your store. Friendly Market has gone from being a trusted local resource to a disappointing and overpriced outlet that no longer serves the community with care or quality.
Unacceptable Quality of Seafood
Your fresh poke and salmon offerings are shockingly subpar. The poke is routinely packed with silver skin, making it tough and unpleasant to eat. The salmon is even worse—half of each cube is dark, blood-lined tissue, which should have been trimmed away. Selling seafood in this condition shows a complete disregard for quality control and customer satisfaction.
Outrageous and Unjustified Pricing
Prices at Friendly Market have reached absurd levels. Many of the products on your shelves, including meat and produce, are clearly outsourced—mainly from Oʻahu—yet you charge nearly triple the normal retail price. It’s price gouging, plain and simple. There’s no value here—only exploitation of a small community with limited shopping options.
Low Standards in Meat Preparation
Your butcher department fails to meet even basic industry standards. Pre-packaged meats often contain visible animal hair, a clear sign of negligence and lack of hygiene. Cuts are inconsistent, poorly trimmed, and reflect a staff that either lacks proper training or doesn’t care. Either way, it's unacceptable for any grocery store, let alone one that claims to serve the Molokai community.
Dangerous and Inadequate Parking
The parking situation is a hazard. The lot is cramped, with dangerously tight spaces that make it difficult to park or even walk safely. For a store that sees heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, this level of disorganization poses a serious risk to customers.
In short, Friendly Market Molokai has become a glaring example of what happens when customer care, product quality, and ethical pricing are abandoned. Your store no longer reflects the spirit of aloha or the standards the community deserves. I sincerely hope you take this criticism seriously and make the necessary improvements—because as it stands, Friendly Market is failing its customers on every level.
Misaki's is just better.
