Google
This place might be a the best gelato ice cream 🍨 in Rome! 🇮🇹 Frigidarium serves an incredible selection of delicious 🤤 and unique flavors! Definitely try the namesake flavor and get your ice cream covered with chocolate 🍫 or topped with whipped cream! 🥛 Staff 👨‍🍳 is friendly and the service is quick. ⏲️ They have no seating 🪑 so be prepared to take your order to go. 🥡 I wish I could come here more often!

Google
Frigidarium is a must-visit for great gelato! They offer lots of delicious options and are generous with their scoops. The staff are notably attentive and helpful, making the experience even better. It's truly a fantastic spot for a treat. Definitely recommend!

Google
The best gelato i have ever had!! It was very delicious and yummi! We tasted different flavors and all were amazing. It is unfortunate that they do not have a place were you can sit for a little bit and relax while you eat to have a break. Luckily we did not wait so much the queue was fast. I highly recommend this gelato place it is a must taste in Rome.

Google
Frigidarium does not disappoint. This is likely one of the best gelatos I have ever had in the entire world. Their flavor choices are also interesting, the servers were kind and enthusiastic. Will definitely come back and I highly recommend this gelato shop in Rome.

Google
After getting ripped off at an ice cream place next to the trevi fountain a few days before I was pleased to find this place. Great selection of flavours and the option to have solid chocolate covering the ice cream itself was nice. Great tasting gelato and the price was not bad either. I really recommend this place.

Google
Well well what can i say, this is one of the best place i will visit again for sure once I’m in Rome 😊 Perfect place to cool off yourself A huge number of flavours for ice creams and lattes People will be in queue to get their ice creams but the staffs are friendly and welcoming and they’ll manage the crowd easily 😊👍 Make sure to give a visit if you’re near the area😊❤️

Google
Went on a Thursday early afternoon and didn't queue for too long. Very good pistachio gelato! Mango tasted like the real fruit but there were bits of ice in mine. You can choose to dip your ice cream in chocolate but I skipped. Would come back for the pistachio.

Google
One of te best Gelato in Rome. You must wait for about 10 minutes but it is worthy to wait. Amazing taste and correct prices.

Yelp
Every time I come to Italy, it's a personal mission to find and devour gelato daily--because vacation calories? Yeah, they don't count! This spot didn't disappoint--the gelato was absolutely gorgeous and tasted just as amazing. Heads up: they only let us pick one flavor to taste test lol so choose wisely, but honestly, it was worth it. Open late, delicious, and just what we needed to end the night right!
google avatar

Yelp
My absolute favorite gelato in Rome! Stays open late, perfect to stop by after dinner and walk the beautiful streets of city before going home. Service was great. Line moves pretty fast so don't feel to discouraged if you have to wait a bit.

Yelp
We stopped by Frigidarium while in Italy, and it was easily one of the best gelato spots we've tried. The texture was perfectly creamy but still light, and the flavors were so fresh and vibrant. I'm usually all about fruit flavors, and the strawberry was a standout--sweet, tangy, and tasted just like biting into the real thing. Unlike some gelato places that just feel like overly sweet ice cream, this actually had that authentic, high-quality taste. You can tell they use real ingredients, not artificial syrups. Didn't try the chocolate dip that everyone talks about, but honestly, the fruit flavors alone were more than enough to make this a new favorite. If you're in Rome and love fresh, real gelato, this spot is a must!

Yelp
The Frigidarium ice cream is probably one of the most popular gelato stores in the area. The line is usually long although moving fast, and you have to pick up your flavors very fast as every one working here is rushing you, then pick the choice of either chocolate coat or wiped cream as toppings. I've tried their flavors of Frigidarium (very sweet), Stracciatella (creamy), Tiramisu (balanced rum taste), Pistachio Cheesecake (a must try here), and Cioccoarancia (dense texture and orange taste). Overall good quality but not worth the hassle if waiting line is really long.
google avatar

Yelp
Overrated tourist trap... The gelato is really sweet, maybe a bit too much. I tried the bacio here, and still prefer the one from Gelateria Cremilla. You can choose to get the ice cream dipped in white or black chocolate.
google avatar

Yelp
Stayed nearby and visited several times. Excellent gelato! The salted caramel (crema bretone), raspberry cheesecake, and dark chocolate were the best. My partner says it's the best dark chocolate gelato they've ever had. They also top with whipped cream or dip in chocolate for you at the end. Usually a long line but not always. I ordered a frappe once which is supposed to be a milkshake, but it was more like melted liquid ice cream, so stick to their gelato.

Yelp
It was our first time in Rome so thanks to Yelp for all the recommendations. Frigidarium was one of the highest ratings for gelato so we made it a point to taste it and it did not disappoint. The coffee had a kick on it and the chocolate flavor was a hit too. There's a long line but the service is fast. The ambiance is casual and it's like a grab and go thing. Everyone was just eating their gelato in front and on the side of the store. No table and chairs for customers but they say that's normal in Rome for gelato stores.
google avatar

Igor K.

Yelp
There is a reason why people waiting in line to buy gelato here and not across the street or other places on the same street. It's very good and original taste without any artificial add ons .
google avatar

Giovanny E.

Yelp
The mango gelato taste just like fresh mango! The lemon gelato is too sour. The chocolate fudge is so thick and rich. The line was long when i was there. Service is good. They gave you sample to try before we decided. It is a cute 'come and go' ice cream shop, no chair and table.
google avatar

Maggi R.

Yelp
This is our favorite place for gelato in Rome. Why you ask? Because it is always so good. We stopped after a lovely dinner, and I enjoyed a medium cup of Fior di Latte and Stracciatella. My husband had the large cup with Coffee, Chocolate and Stracciatella. We were both in gelato heaven!
google avatar

Carmen L.

Yelp
Have to try their famous flavor Frigidarium which I've not seen else where! There was a line but they moved fast.
google avatar

Farhat K.

Yelp
Very solid gelato. There was a line at night around 11:30 pm when I went to get some before leaving Rome in the morning. I got 3 types to taste which were mango (good), frigidarium (good), and white chocolate with gianduja (my fav of the three). The guy taking my order was patient and nice even though there was a line which I appreciate. And it's a little shop so the ambiance was, get your gelato, and now leave lol. Would def come back to try their other flavors.
google avatar

Shalmali P.

Yelp
OMG! This may be the best gelato that I ever had!! Truly loved it. There's always a long line in front of this place, and the wait is totally worth it. We went there TWICE when we were in Rome, and I'm still sad that we couldn't go another time before we left! Absolutely loved there Cremino and Hazelnut flavors. Another popular flavor we tried was Chocolate Orange which had a unique taste with candied orange bites. Also tried Frigidarium flavor which had caramel flavor. Highly recommend stopping by this place while you're in Rome!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Thanks to other yelpers we were able to avoid other gelato that was not as good. In fact there was another American family in front of us in line that just tried a different place and threw it away to come here! Service is fast and friendly and prices and selection is great. Be prepared to walk and lick; no seating!
google avatar

Tracy R.

Yelp
Good value gelato, but more on the sweet side. I thought it was overhyped. There is always such a long line, we came around 8pm and waited 15 min to get to the front. For 5€ for two gelatos with 2 flavors each, this is good value. Because of the long line, I was hesitant to sample any flavors but they did offer that. We tried the pistachio and hazelnut gelato. The pistachio was good and creamy, the hazelnut was too sweet for my taste. I also got them dipped in chocolate in a waffle cone, which topped the dessert off nicely but made it messy to eat.
google avatar

Henry T.

Yelp
Italian gelato really changes your taste buds. My go to flavors are usually stracciatella and pistachio. My friend wanted to hunt down this must try place and it definitely doesn't dissapppoint. Kind of hidden and middle of nowhere yet the long line tells you how good this place is. I was too excited and in a gelato state of mind to remember my camera eats first but I couldn't risk any spoon melting away all the goodness. I'm back stateside and had some oreo cookies and cream ice cream and was immediately disgusted. If in Rome, try the gelato as much as humanly possible (avoid diabetes) and it will change your ice cream standards. You've been warned.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Tucked in our favorite area of the "touristy" part of Rome, this is some of the best gelato we had in Italy. Awesome flavors and they churn through the seemingly long wait with ease. Highly recommend the "Frigidarium" flavor.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Outstanding gelato and vibe. Always a line, but it moves quickly. Get the Frigidarium flavor. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Edith C.

Yelp
Best in the world. Unbelievably good. We are gelato addicts and tried over a dozen places during our time in Italy, this one took the cake. It was very cheap, paid €3.50 for a medium cone (3 flavors, and the dipping in chocolate is free). Genuinely heaven eating this. Beyond satisfied.

Yelp
It's a funny old world. There we were newly arrived in Rome from Trieste via 6 other countries, and surrounded by living signs of ancient history that gave us so much today. Even Monty Python posed on what have the Romans ever done for us - all right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? Brought peace? So luggage deposited our friends got a reply text from their daughter in Scotland essentially ya gotta get to this place as it's the best ice cream ever and they coat the ice cream in choccy. Dutiful doting parents instantly did as instructed. Enter google (I guess) and location found I think he said pinned, so off we went past the tomb of the unknown solider - Tomba del Milite Ignoto - past the statue of the goddess Roma, the Basilica Ulpia, Trajan's Column, Basilica Papale di Santa Marie just to name a few for bloody ice cream. Yeesh. So the ice cream was very good indeed and fairly priced but the servings weren't over generous. There are no seats and you literally stand in a small space for cheerful service. I always have a cone never a tub. I mean a tub? I can't eat a tub. A tub usually brings a plastic spoon and our planet could forgo more plastic. The chocolate ice cream coating was thin. It slowed melting and was tasty. It wasn't the best ice cream ever. But we did each eat our weight in ice cream when we were in Rome and Trieste. Now where did we put those ancient monuments?

Olivia C.

Yelp
Got milk chocolate and vanilla dipped. Crowded. Gelato wasn't covered. Long line. Mostly hype.
google avatar

Maggie A.

Yelp
Heaven on earth. If that is a line, wait. If you know basic Italian to say hello, thank you or know how to order, do so. Staff here are incredible patient & the gelato is insane. My personal favorite is a combo of Frigidarium flavor + a scoop of stracciatella
google avatar

chris c.

Yelp
Best gelato in Rome! Great price and selections! Great and Fast service as well. Will be back every time we're in Roma!
google avatar

Iris P.

Yelp
a small shop but with plenty of fun flavors, from your traditional chocolate and coconut, to fruit sorbets, to specials like the frigidarium and the bacio. I got four scoops: frigidarium (caramel and chocolate--sooo good), bacio (hazelnut and chocolate, also quite good), coconut (perfectly light) and pistachio (more savory but not as flavorful). You get the option of whipped cream or chocolate (white or dark) coating.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Such a great gelato spot. We stopped by here when we were walking back to our hotel, and didn't regret it one bit. The only thing is that it gets messy when it melts. Other than that, no other complaints.

Fairfield C.

Yelp
Best gelato around and very helpful workers. Reasonably priced for a tourist location. Clean and efficient.
google avatar

Todd G.

Yelp
I was hoping for much better... there was some hype on Frigidarium from reading some blogs and compared to other Gelatos in the area ... this was over hyped and rushed. The put the wrong gelatos as one of my picks. The service was not very good to top it off. The gelato was okay and did not meet my expectations. It's a cute shop from the outside. I would recommend some others nearby.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
The best gelato we have had in Rome. A local told us about it and he was right! There was a line, but it moved quickly. There is only one flavor I ever get and the chocolate was decadent.
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
This gelato shop ALWAYS had a line. Every single time we passed there was atleast a line of 20 people. I will say the line moved quickly. The gelato was amazing and very inexpensive in my opinion. The staff wasn't the friendliest but that's okay.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
The best gelato I have had in Rome (and our family tasted a LOT of gelato in Rome). Their vanilla is a must get because there were powerful punches of vanilla bean bits that exploded flavor in your mouth. This place has consistently long lines for a reason. Also highly ranked on Trip Advisor.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
It's worth the wait! Skip every other place and go to Frigidarium. I was a little nervous walking up as an English speaker I wasn't sure if I would know how or what to order but the staff is friendly and super helpful. We tried so many different flavors and may have stopped every night we were in Rome. The pistachio is awesome but they had a flavor that had coffee/hazelnut it was my favorite but they only had it one night of my visit. Get your cone dipped it's so good and NOTHING like the waxy stuff you get in the US.
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
This is an awesome spot for gelato!! Highly recommend to anyone. For two mediums with three flavours each total cost was 7. Really good price just a short walk from the Pantheon. I've paid for more for two and definitely received less!! They dipped them both in chocolate free of charge. Makes my mouth juicy just thinking about them! I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
I'm not a Gellato expert, but this was very good, and 2.50 € for a small cone is a good price. I got their Frigidarium flavor which was very good. My wife got the strawberry, which was my favorite.
google avatar

Julius G.

Yelp
Great gelati place long lines during the evening but you can get some during the day without the wait.
google avatar

Kevin F.

Yelp
Frigidarium was a block away from our AirBnB. There was a line down the block and around the corner every single night. Of course we had to check it out! Delicious gelato! The line moved very quick as they have a process down to scoop your order, take your payment and move on to the next guest. Take my money every night!! You know what they say ... "When in Rome..."
google avatar

Nicolas L.

Yelp
Frigidarium serves the perfect gelato! On a recent visit I ordered a three-scoop cone with Frigidarium, Crema Fiorentina, and Tiramisu Gelato. The gelato was heavenly creamy and sweet. The Frigidarium also had crumbly cookie pieces and thick fudgy swirls. The cone was nicely crisp. Overall, this was my favorite gelateria in Rome and is a must visit.
google avatar

Whit D.

Yelp
After dinner having a sweet craving near piazza nivoano found this gem. A big line that was moving fast. I was amazed at the prices ... 3.50 euros for three different flavors in a waffle cone ... that's cheaper than going to Baskin Robbers in the United States. You get to top off your gelato with either cream or chocolate sauce; I opted for the cream ... less messy. The gelato was good; I did have better at other places though. I must say they didn't have many options like other gelato spots. It did the trick though and didn't break the wallet .

Yelp
Delicious! I had blueberries & cheese plus the Fridigarium signature flavor. Great service. Speaks English. Has tap to pay.
google avatar

Laith R.

Yelp
We spent 2 weeks in Italy, from Venice, Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, with our final week in Rome. We enjoyed gelato in numerous locations during our stay. Frigidarium was the creamiest and most flavorful of all the gelatos we tried. We especially enjoyed their focus on using natural ingredients and the variety of flavors. The service was great and while it can be busy, the ambiance is what you would expect for a small hole-in-the-wall gelateria. Note, we avoided gelaterias that were on the beaten path, always researching before making our choices.
google avatar

Hurnan V.

Yelp
We came to the Frigidarium twice in two nights. Don't be intimidated by the long lines! It moves quickly! (You also know that this is a local favorite because it's not only packed with tourists.) Plus, they accept credit card, which is a huge plus. The serving sizes are also very generous. As for the quality of the gelato- so creamy, and smooth! You can also ask for chocolate (milk or white) dipped cones as well. I love the Stracciatella gelato, which is a creamier version of chocolate chip ice cream. This was definitely one of my favorite gelato shops in Rome, and I am already dreaming for the day when I can come back!
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
Chocolate dipped gelato (and good base gelato as well). Will have to wait in a line as its a very popular joint.
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
First off.. Oh... my.... GELATO! Secondly, holy cow... In the country of Italy, the best Gelato, is...for a fact (my opinion is factual, right?) Frigidarium. During our Rome trip, we were fortunate enough to stay under a 6-8 minute walk from this location, and thus it makes sense we went more than once. Frigidarium was definitely a mix of American and Italian as far as it was the only place you could get dipped ice cream (highly recommend the chocolate dip or chocolate and white chocolate dip). Secondly, the portions were huge (I got three scoops, and it felt like having one of the largest ice creams I've had in awhile. I'd have to say, the lines weren't long and the people were incredibly friendly, plus, as Gelato goes, this was the finest Gelato you can have. My wife would also say, I'm a Nutella and/or chocolate guy, but, with all my flavors, I kept mixing it up and was constantly happy with my experience here. Some people did say it was too sweet, but, thats their fault for getting flavors without enough richness (I'd say go dark chocolate for one of your flavors to balance your palat, or it will be too sweet).
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Our go to place for gelato while in Rome. Delicious! I always get chocolate covered gelato. We will be back soon.
google avatar

Avery R.

Yelp
This place is right by our air b n b and it has a long line around the clock, so we figured we'd try it. Unfortunately, it's not good. It tastes like American ice cream: overly sweet with not enough flavor. There wasn't much variety of flavors to choose from. The tiramisu had a very very faint flavor, and when I ate it with the bacio flavor, I couldn't taste it at all. Mainly, all the gelatos tasted like overly sweetened churned milk, and it didn't really have that gelato consistency. It left us with stomach aches and a longing for a great Italian gelato. Good thing we found Old Bridge gelato the next day, so if you want fantastic gelato, go there.
google avatar

Sunie Q.

Yelp
The gelato was not only delicious but soooooo worth every euro. The service is like any popular gelateria super quick and busy but get to taste the different gelatos and you won't go wrong. Long lines are definitely something here but pair it with good company and you won't go wrong. Enjoy some walking and you'll still have a good time.
google avatar

Cynthia D.

Yelp
It was 2012, and I will always remember their hazelnut gelato. I'm going back this year and I WILL BE HERE FOR SURE!!!
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
Yummy gelato!! Not the best gelato I've ever had but I enjoyed having it dunked in melted chocolate. I got the tiramisu and crema di Florentino (something like that?). The florentine one was awesome, the tiramisu was just alright! Service was great!
google avatar

Anja G.

Yelp
The gelato was delicious and the staff was helpful with choosing your best flavors. And there are many! . No seating provided, but great to walk around in the alleys while enjoying your treat.

Yelp
I visited Rome last week from Los Angeles. I heard this place was a MUST for gelato. When we got there (6 of us) no one was there or in line. We were looking at the menu for less than 5 minutes and the lady was so rude about it. Didn't offer to help us and kept telling us to hurry up..even though there wasn't any people in line??? When we started ordering, we asked for samples and she seemed to be pissed off about that even tho there was spoons for samples? The whole time she kept rushing us and had a horrible attitude. Besides that rude lady, the gelato was amazing.
