Unfortunately the room was very tired and incredibly noisy on Saturday night,but that's not the fault of the hotel- Sunday night was incredibly peaceful!!Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very good and plentiful,but finishes far too early -9.30- on the weekdays. Unbeatable location-hence the noise!

Wonderfully located hotel in the heart of Kalmar! Walking distance to Dom Kyrka, Kalmar castle, many stores and restaurants. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast with both hot and cold dishes. The bar/restaurant is well staffed and the restaurant had a steady stream of guests.

The hotel is a stones throw away from the central train station and is also close to restaurants, shops and the Kalmar Castle and Arts Museum - great for taking in the culture of Kalmar! The hotel also has a warm, homely feel and a great array with their breakfast options. I’d highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Kalmar and am looking forward to making a repeat visit myself! 😊

I was here for 1 night. I expected something out of the ordinary considering the heritage of the hotel. And I was not disappointed. The building is amazing, I love the interior. A great mix of classic interior and quirky things ... The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. The location cannot be better ... on the main square, walking distance from harbor, castle, train station, old gate ... The bar has great selection. The restaurant has great selection. The menu is broad and has both local and international dishes. The breakfast buffet was tasty. Selection was broad. Great breakfast. I will definitely return to this hotel :-) 2 bad things: some of the hotel seems a bit worn down & the Internet was a bit slow at times.

My husband booked this hotel and it seems he made the decision based strictly on the price. We pre-paid $120 and it was far from worth that. ||||When we arrived, the check-in desk is actually the hotel bar. Different, but ok. The woman at the front desk was either new or lost. I should have known how rough the room would be when handed metal keys. One key was for the room door and one was for the exterior door. She explained that they close and lock the door from 10pm to 7am and it is the guest’s responsibility to unlock the door of coming in during that time. (Please note, this hotel is also conveniently located close to the prison.) ||||When we got to the room, I was absolutely floored with how old the room was. We stayed in different hotels in Sweden during our week-long stay. Many are older (historic) but they have been updated. This hotel needs to be gutted. ||||The bathroom was the smallest I’ve ever seen in a hotel. The strip below the door is 4-5 inches tall and will cause most to trip each time you walk in and out. There is rust all around the very high tub. The slippers left to use were stained and gross. ||||As stated in another review, there is a basket of treats with no pricing that some will confuse as complimentary but it is the mini-bar. I saw that management told another reviewer that there is a card in every room and I can assure you there was not a card. At checkout, the employee asked if we ate anything from the mini-bar. ||||We called down and asked for pillows and they said it would take an hour to bring them. That would have been fine, but they never showed up. ||||Spend the extra money and stay somewhere that you can walk on the floor without concern.

Best Western Frimurarhotellet is located at the heart of Kalmar, and a 2-minute walk from the train station. The hotel is in a listed building from early 1800, which gives it a nice historic atmosphere and there is a nice restaurant and bar at the hotel, unless you want to explore something else in town which all is moments away. The rooms are period featured and basic but nice and big with high ceilings. Breakfast is great and there is a partnership with the local gym for exercise. If you want to explore Öland, then buses run from the station and they take you there in 20 minutes. A nice local hotel.

We had no idea what to expect as I had made the reservation online and saw previous good reviews. Every single one of the staff were charming and helpful. The receptionist loaned us a phone charger as our converter did not work. The restaurant was amazing! Much of the food was sourced locally- beef, pork, white asparagus, etc and were exceptionally well prepared. We ate there twice for dinner because our first night experience was so good. The bar is a lot of fun and they have an amazing Gin selection. The French 75 was sooooo good! The rooms are small compared to American standards but very comfortable. The building was older but has wonderful charm and the location was great. The breakfast, which is included was also wonderful.

This is a great location! Very quiet room and delicious breakfast. Room got a bit hot in the middle of the night, but we are also experiencing unseasonably warm weather. Staff was friendly and the bar had good drinks. Would stay here again for sure!
