Absolutely beautiful spot. Many are sound front. Also some of the nicest bath houses we’ve seen. Walking distance to Tavern on 12 which allows dogs on the patio and has a good selection of beer. 1.7 miles to the off road beach access for 4 WD vehicles. A very fair price for the views and hook ups. Polite staff with efficient check in.

Frisco Woods is a privately owned campground that continually makes annual improvements to its facilities to make a great stay. This is not a national chain theme park campground, which makes it even more attractive to all types of campers from tents, to log cabins, travel trailers, 5th wheels, even Class A coaches. Almost 300 sites for RVs, 36 small log cabins and 15-20 tent sites. I think all have electricity and water and most rv sites have sewer hookups. The on line check in app will exempt you from sites that don't accept your rig size & electricity requirements. This campground is extremely well maintained with several bathrooms (5?) with showers, some with dishwash stations & laundry. The sound front sites offer majestic views & sunsets. Major site improvements were made in January 2025: Landscaping (sod), Bulkheading, concrete boardwalks, Piers, kayak access, WiFi upgrades, camp store, kids playground, pet wash, dog park, propane refill, fish cleaning & black tank dump station. Frisco Woods is one of the best places to relax and enjoy a wholesome Hatteras island visit without being wind & sand battered as at an oceanfront site. Bonus: "Tavern on 12" a locally owned restaurant is walking distance adjacent to the front entrance on highway 12. Always great food! Mr. Barnett and his staff work each day to keep this campground friendly, safe, & well maintained.!! Per my observations, Anyone posting nasty negative reviews probably had issues before they arrived.. Seek your peace elsewhere.

My husband and I camp in the Outer Banks two or three times a year. We decided to stay closer to Hatteras this trip and chose Frisco Woods. So glad we did! The staff are super friendly and helpful; their store has just about everything you need; and it's super dog-friendly. They have a dog washing station! Who does that? The location was perfect for our stay.. to the ferry, Hatteras light house, restaurants, grocery stores.. The sunsets are breathtaking. This is a great place for families with children. We will be staying here again.

My family had a nice visit to Frisco Woods Campground. The campsite was nice and pretty easy to access. The pool and sound were a favorite for my family. They have a nice stocked camp store up front too. Just a word to the wise, avoid accidentally using their employee only bathroom in there because the employees (two older women to be exact) will absolutely bash you no matter who’s in the store. In this case it was his wife who was in the store and heard every nasty thing those two ladies said when my husband made that very simple mistake. In summary, nice campground that could use some better help.

I called with a complicated reservation several family members for 2 cabins and 1 RV spot with varying dates for each one. I spoke to Kriston who couldn’t have been more accommodating, courteous and helpful making the making experience just perfect. I could tell the place was very busy and she was clearly multi tasking but she hung right in there and was super efficient and very nice to deal with. So a big shout out to customer service from these fine folks. I can’t wait to see you and visit your campground soon.

We had stayed at Frisco Woods 23 years ago, with our last night being a doozy because of an unexpected, on our part, storm. When we got there this time, we were expecting rain as the forecast kept changing, but that's another story. We had chosen a site online, but, when we went to it, there was virtually no way to get into it. The person on the site next to ours had parked a little too far out, another group had pitched a tent in the spot we could have used to back in, and, there was a line of trees not shown online. We drove back up to the office, but it was locked. However, the two gracious ladies inside opened up and listened to our predicament. They changed our site with no additional fees. The site was easy to get into and we set up in time before it got dark. Now the other story. We were expecting rain. However, by the time we got there, the rain became a Nor'easter with 40 mph winds. Dire conditions were being foretold, and we decided to cut our trip short. It wasn't raining when we broke camp, but it was by the time we hit Manteo. Long story short, if we hadn't left, this tale would be told sitting in the rain, with no way off Hatteras Island, as the ferries were shut down and so was Rt 12, with an undetermined reopening. As to Frisco Woods, we forfeited our remaining days, per their clear policy. Absolutely no animosity on our part to the gracious employees there. We doubt we will be back to OBX, and maybe give Frisco Woods another chance. Three times the charm, right?🤔

We stayed here over 4th of July for 5 days/nights. We were in S29 right on the sound. This was a pretty large site and we did have a little shade from a few trees nearby. No one showed up for the last site S30 so we had a great view and only 1 neighbor while there. If we come here again I would want one of these sites. More room and not so crammed in like over on the B loop. It was quiet and everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed the pool and loved the store for daily ice and also beer if we ran out! The store also carries many other items you may have forgotten or need. Prices seemed reasonable and not higher than normal. They also have a laundry facility next to the pool which uses credit cards or even tap to pay! Loved this!! This is a great campground for kayaking/paddle boards and lots of kite surfing going on in the sound. If you prefer the beach you will need to drive 2-3 miles to be beach access. We did so on our bikes but nowhere to lock them up so we didn’t stay ☹️ The other perk of this campground is Tavern on 12 restaurant is located right beside the store. We enjoyed dinner here 3 nights in lieu of cooking! Great staff and food! Highly recommend it also.Last thing to mention is bath houses were clean with 3 toilets and 2 showers. The best part was AC in the bath house! Was nice to shower and put your clean clothes on with breaking into a nice sweat immediately.
