We had stayed at Frisco Woods 23 years ago, with our last night being a doozy because of an unexpected, on our part, storm. When we got there this time, we were expecting rain as the forecast kept changing, but that's another story. We had chosen a site online, but, when we went to it, there was virtually no way to get into it. The person on the site next to ours had parked a little too far out, another group had pitched a tent in the spot we could have used to back in, and, there was a line of trees not shown online. We drove back up to the office, but it was locked. However, the two gracious ladies inside opened up and listened to our predicament. They changed our site with no additional fees. The site was easy to get into and we set up in time before it got dark.
Now the other story. We were expecting rain. However, by the time we got there, the rain became a Nor'easter with 40 mph winds. Dire conditions were being foretold, and we decided to cut our trip short. It wasn't raining when we broke camp, but it was by the time we hit Manteo. Long story short, if we hadn't left, this tale would be told sitting in the rain, with no way off Hatteras Island, as the ferries were shut down and so was Rt 12, with an undetermined reopening. As to Frisco Woods, we forfeited our remaining days, per their clear policy. Absolutely no animosity on our part to the gracious employees there.
We doubt we will be back to OBX, and maybe give Frisco Woods another chance. Three times the charm, right?🤔
