I’m still not sure if this Frituur n1 street restaurant is objectively bad, or if it just personally offended me.
Seated nearby were a group of French-speaking customers loudly praising the place—though I couldn’t tell if they were locals or tourists. Their enthusiasm made me curious, so I decided to try something off-menu that caught my eye: “Soflaki” labeled as meat.
I asked the cashier: Is the Soflaki veal or something else?
He confidently replied: “Yes, it’s veal – kalfsvlees!”
What arrived? Seasoned lung with onions and spices – definitely not veal. It cost €6.50.
Then came the fries fiasco.
The menu clearly stated Friet €2.50.
but charged me €5.50 for the exact same medium fries.
The restaurant is open at night, but pricey and not worth the quality.
I gave it 2 stars only because I was starving and there were no other options nearby. At night, not many places are open in the area.
