I visited the Frostburg Museum with my family recently and had an experience that says a lot about both the museum and the people who care for it. We actually arrived when the museum wasn’t officially open—they were in the middle of cleaning out exhibits—but the volunteers welcomed us in anyway and generously gave us a long, thoughtful tour. It was an incredibly kind gesture and we were grateful for the time they spent sharing their knowledge with us.
The museum holds a remarkable amount of local history. We got a sense not just of what the town has been through, but also what the community is doing today to make things better for the generations that come after.
Even my 9-year-old said the museum was interesting, which says a lot. We came in without any personal ties to Frostburg, but by the end we felt genuinely connected to the stories of perseverance and community that the museum preserves.
This is a true gem right on Main Street, and an essential stop during any visit to Western Maryland.
