Fruškogorski Jelen

We stopped by now that autumn has begun, and everything felt so warm and cozy. We enjoyed a hearty soup, the meat was excellent, and we finished with pancakes filled with homemade jam. A true homely atmosphere, leaving a very pleasant impression.

Great food and lots of space inside. The restaurant resembles an old tavern, and that's the atmosphere they might be going for. One of better restaurants in Vrdnik. Among various dishes I can recommend the game stew, it has a rich flavor and decent size.

We went during september 2025 after the tourist season ended. The restaurant was nice and the waiters were quite friendly and spent some time talking with us, we really appreciated that as foreign tourists.

We, four singing friends, arrived in Vrdnik in the afternoon. We went for walk and to look for the restaurant where to have dinner. We decided to go (back 😊) to Fruškorski Jelen (Frushkahill's Deer). We chose soups and special pommefritte and were quite satisfied! Really good choice!

Local restaurant & Cafe. Relaxed atmosphere. Family business. Nothing fancy but really nice relaxed place with a lovely garden outside that is just perfect for the lunch or a nice, cold beer with the friends and family. The meat dishes on the barbecue are excellent, and the salads are made with homegrown ingredients so they were excellent. 2021 update: Unpleasant experience as their services worsened. Decent food, terribly slow service.

The food is very expensive and also completely bland. I'm sure there was no salt added at all, which was fortunately available on the table. But you basically get completely unseasoned food, no salt, no pepper and have to season it yourself. The Cesar Salad was really good, but also missing Salt. But the "Fruškogorski Paprikaš" was extremely bad. With the first spoon that I tried, I actually just wanted to get up and leave. The meat was definitely fried on the grill before adding it, which is outstanding! But the entire dish had no taste at all, was very unpleasant to eat and a full disappointment. I had to add A LOT of salt and pepper to make it at least bearable (not enjoyable) to continue eating. With the Paprikaš, I got soggy, store bought pasta. The waiter was friendly, but we had to wait for long to get anything. This includes the menu card and the ashtray. All in all, it was a rather unpleasant experience.

Pleasant atmosphere, excellent venison goulash.

The food we ate was fine but 3 stars since I could have made the same food better looking and better tasting. Rice was tasteless, although it was prepared very well. It felt to me as if the cook forgot to season the food. Also prices are kinda high for a place that haves little population.
