Google
One of the most robust chocolate covered strawberries I have ever had! I went here because I heard they had chocolate covered strawberries year-round, and they did not disappoint. The chocolate coating was thick and did not break off when I bit into the strawberry. The fruit itself was perfectly ripe and sweet. They seem a little pricey at first but once you try, you will see that they are totally worth it. Family owned, accepts orders in advance, and has a large selection of ready to go sweets in store.

Google
If you spend any time inside the store, you can tell it’s a labor of love and family! Stop to read the family story right when you enter. Everything is delicious. Service is fantastic. You can get custom chocolate items for events or bdays. This is a must visit!!

Google
Great chocolate. Guaranteed to walk out a happy customer. Super charming. Been around forever. You’ll walk out singing “the Candy Man” from Willie wonka movie

Google
I haven’t been personally, but my cousin from Chicago brought a box when she came to visit us in Michigan. The truffles, the bark, everything is phenomenal. I’ve never had anything so good!

Google
Loved this place as a kid and still love it as an adult. The service is always awesome, friendly, and fast! The fudge is AMAZING! I highly recommend the buttercreams and chocolate marshmallows, too... so many choices and beautiful chocolate work. You can literally get a chocolate dinosaur or even a hammer or anything you can think of im sure they just about have it made out of chocolate. Great spot to stop in for a little treat or date or to pick up something special for your someone special.

Google
A old town institution. My most recent purchase was dark chocolate covered strawberries for my brothers birthday. I’ve ordered from Shari’s Berries before and they cannot hold a candle to the Fudge Pot. I wanted dark chocolate so I called the order in, man on the phone gave me an estimate for the number of strawberries, they measure by weight. Super quick and easy, even let me set my pick up time. They had my order ready and waiting and because I prepaid I was in and out in 2 minutes. Good news for me I was tempted by everything else on display. The quality of the chocolate was excellent, nice and thick and the strawberries were fresh! Great to support a local business during this time.

This is the second time I've been to Fudge Pot on vacation in Chicago and won't miss it next time. Super friendly service, most everything is made on-site and craftsmanship and dedication evident. Highly Recommended.

Yelp
The Fudge Pot has been a well-known sweets shop in Old Town for many years (the website states: "making Chicago sweeter since 1963"). As my lovely wife knows, I have a sweet tooth, but recently we stopped into the store for the very first time. The store is not that big, but there are so many choices of treats to select from that it takes a few minutes to figure out what you want. They also have a display showcasing unique designs that they have produced. We enjoyed a few selections including the delectable milk chocolate Toodle (with caramel and pecans) and the Nutter Butter cookie generously enrobed with chocolate.

Yelp
We grew up in Old Town. We still live close by The Fudge Pot. My Dad & I would always purchase our confections from this great historic place. Other confection places have come & gone in all these years but this place remains a staple. This is the only confection shop I take out of town guests to. I hope it stays open forever.

Yelp
This is by far the best chocolate store we have ever been to. We have moved from Chicago and still order it over Christmas time for our families. Love the toffee and the caramel. My husband loves the fudge. Can't go wrong with this place. Can't wait to visit Chicago and try more of their chocolate

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to The Fudge Pot, off and on, for 10 years. The chocolate is really good. I've had a variety of things and I liked them all, but my favorite is The Milk Chocolate Toodles. I drop in once a week, without the kids, I purchase 1 Toodle and I eat it real slow. Lol The service is always fast and friendly. I like that we can see the candy being made. Keep in mind for the counter treats they charge by the pound. They also make specialty chocolate, chocolate covered fruit, taffy apples, etc. The shop is small but cozy. It gives you a nostalgic feel which is rare to find in this day and age. Although it has been a neighborhood staple in Old Town for years, it's worth the drive for those that don't live in the area. I highly recommend.

Yelp
I have not had the pleasure of stepping foot in this shop since before the pandemic, but I recently gave birth and this was all I was craving! Didn't have any cravings all during pregnancy, but after, I NEEDED The Fudge Pot's English Toffee! Can feel a little costly to send, but totally worth the cost since I can't be there. I never remember that they don't ship in the hot months so every time I had been craving it, it was during the warmer months when they didn't ship to NY :( This time I made it! I decided to treat myself to 2 lbs of buttery milk chocolatey goodness. There's something about the combination and the crushed almonds! Mmm! No other toffee I have tried compares and I cry about it. I know their other items are good, but in my mind if I'm shipping anything, I would rather maximize my toffee to satisfy my cravings. And oh yum, it's just as I remember and imagined! I also recently remembered that I was their first online customer :) So happy to be able to support a small business even though I'm in another state! Would definitely be a regular if I lived in Chicago! If you're in the area, go! If you're not, find a way to go! I've already told my parents to check it out when they go in a couple months :)

Yelp
I've been going there for almost as long as it's been open. I've always felt that the quality is the same as it ever was. This time, it (fudge and Toodles) were a little dry. I'll still go back, and I recommend it.

Yelp
When walking by stopped in and wasn't disappointed. The fudge was delicious! The employees were really nice and the selection was good. They also have late hours. Will return soon.

Yelp
I'm not sure why, but my nephew wanted a candy apple. So thanks to Google I found that The Fudge Pot sold them. I gave them a call and the man I spoke with said that they had a couple but they were a day or two old, but that if we came after five they'd have some fresh ones. So we got there just about five, and my mom and sister got a few pieces of candy along with the pièce de résistance, candy apple. The shop is very small; whilst we were in there I think there were a total of eight or so of us in there (four in my party), and it was starting to get a litltle crowded. However, placing your order may not take very long so I expect folks generally move in and out relatively quickly. It's an odd space but there is a ramp for wheelchairs, strollers, etc. Parking is limited to street parking. The candies (at least, what I tasted) were good. The salted caramel was delicious, and man I love caramel. I also tried a Grand Marnier truffle that was suuuuuuuper boozy. You'll get your money's worth there! However, I was pretty disappointed with the candy apple situation. I'm not sure we got the fresh ones that they were making--the woman gave my sister two, one for free, and from the little I was able to hear it sounded like it was because they were older ones. Uncool.

Yelp
This place is my go to every time I'm in the area! Fudge pot has the best quality chocolate. The strawberries are amazing and worth every dollar. The Carmel apples are one of my favorites too the size of the apples are huge! The service is very welcoming and everyone is super nice. This location is small but very clean and organized. 10/10 would recommend

Lauren K.

Yelp
Tastes amazing, smells amazing inside, you can see them making the chocolate in the window, so many things to choose from, people were very nice and helpful, everything was amazing, not overpriced, very happy with the experience!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretzel rod -- coated with thick layer of caramel, like pretzel: caramel might be 1:1 ratio or 1:1.3 which is too much in my opinion. the entire thing is coated in chocolate and then peanuts. even the handle has chocolate which i disagree with - too messy to enjoy. 3/5 for execution. 5/5 quality of ingredients Toodles -- caramel and walnuts covered with chocolate -- too much caramel that overpowers the treat
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
I randomly came across this shop around 9pm and decided to pop in for a Carmel apple (saw them in the window). You can find anything you can imagine covered in chocolate here. They have really cool chocolate sculptures and models. Even though it was late at night the staff were all super cheerful and happy. The caramel apple was juicy and delicious.

Yelp
The Fudge Pot is my go to place when I want to send a sweet taste of Chicago to friends and relatives. It's a family-owned, small shop right in the heart of charming Old Town...and they have been in business since 1963! I've read some comments about service with an attitude, but I have always had a great experience and service when I have gone into their shop. And the chocolate! Their chocolate is thick and sweet, with gooey fillings, plump nuts and other top-quality ingredients. If you're looking for boutique chocolates (like Vosages, Neuhaus, Jacques Torres, etc.), you may be disappointed, but if you like good, old-fashioned homemade chocolates...this is your place. I am working on my Christmas/Hanukkah gift giving order right now. If you're in Chicago's Old Town, or want to place an online order, give The Fudge Pot a try. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Tiny little shop because most of it is kitchen. This place has molded chocolates galore. And fun chocolate pops. We tried the milk and dark chocolate. They were both wonderful. The chocolate covered pretzels are a definite fave around here...a good combo of sweet and salty. The staff was the gem of this place.

Yelp
Stopped into The Fudge Pot while walking around Old Town recently and was happy surprised be the variety of chocolates and treats they serve! It was a hot day so our group didn't really want to get too much chocolate and risk a melty mess; however, we did grab some chocolate covered strawberries (they were enormous), chocolate caramel clusters, and a couple different truffles to sample. Everything tasted great! Service was friendly and I'd stop in again when in the area.

Zachary H.

Yelp
Those chocolate covered strawberries were something special. I definitively recommend these!

Yelp
I love this cute Old Town staple. The shop has adorned Wells Street for decades. You walk in and it feels like a vintage spot filled with specialty treats. It's small but is loaded with unique stuff. The chocolates shaped into many things are perfect for gifts. If you have a doctor, barber, construction worker etc. you can get chocolates shaped just for them. They also have wonderful truffle chocolates and salted caramels. My favorite are the taffy apples. Sadly, on my last visit, my beautiful caramel apple was old and past it's prime on the inside. When it comes to this product, quality control is key. With any food item, expiration timing is very important. I still love this place and look forward to my next visit but I will specifically ask for an apple from their newest batch.

Yelp
Absolutely the best chocolate I have ever tasted. The sweetest thing about The Windy City.

Yelp
Definitely worth a visit. Great service and amazing treats! They go above and beyond.

Yelp
I had A Super nice employee. She was great. I tried their peanut butter chocolate fudge and it was tasty! Anytime I have a fudge craving I know where to stop. Good place in old town, close to train.

Shuangni Y.

Yelp
The lady in the shop was so nice to us and so passionate about her job. we ordered everything she recommended in the shop and they all taste great! Food is 5+ stars and the customer service is 5++ stars.

Yelp
The Fudge Pot is a small family owned business that has been creating chocolate creations in the Old Town Neighborhood since 1963!!!!! Chocolate Art-love the Statue of Liberty wearing a COVID-19 Mask! Truly masterpieces of confectionary quality...unique, one-of a kind gifts perfect for EVERYONE. Refreshing that this place has withstood the test of time.....thank you for making Chicago Classy!
google avatar

Yelp
Updated review based on 3 orders during the pandemic. One early on, one during the holidays and one yesterday. As always they are great with Covid procedures. Now for the treats! We always get the chocolate covered apricots (they are HUGE!) they are dipped in dark chocolate which is perfect for the sweetness. Almond (milk & dark) & crispy barks, toodles (milk & dark), & toffee (milk & dark) and they are always wonderful! The toffee isn't too hard or soft. Perfect snap. The toodles are covered in pecans and the Carmel is so smooth and it doesn't stick to your teeth! We did get other items each time and you really can't go wrong with anything you choose!
google avatar

Yelp
A chocolate lovers dream! I started coming here after taking classes at second city and got hooked. There's so many different types of delicious truffles. I like the chocolate covered marshmallow, chocolate covered strawberries and others -- including some of the boozy ones. Even if I order a ton it ends up being fairly affordable.

John O.

Yelp
Great selection. Great service. Great location near Lincoln Park. My boys loved the fudge.
google avatar

Rebeka B.

Yelp
Oh my goodness-- not only is everything they make AWESOME....but these folks showed up at the school door today with a "because you all work so hard" box of complementary apples for the Franklin teachers and staff. It made us cry to know that our neighborhood businesses like The Fudge Pot take the tome to let us know we are appreciated. I love neighbors like this! And I love all the yumminess they add to our Wells street! Thanks for this!

Christian L.

Yelp
Was such a fun experience. My wife and I were in Chicago on vacation and we were in full tourist mode. Decided to stop by here as it came highly recommended and we can say for good reason. Some of the best candy/fudge we've ever had and we even met Jennifer Hudson there! 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Tried and true! I've been coming here on my Chicago trips for nearly 20 years. It's still my favorite place to stop for my sweet tooth when I'm in town. I love that I can get a box of small treats to save for nibbling for the remainder of our trip. The interior is that of an old school chocolate shop, with white tiles, lots of memorabilia and cases filled with their fun chocolate creations. It's truly a gem in Old Town. Hope to come here for another 20!
google avatar

Yelp
Looove the Fudge Pot! I have been here on numerous occasions, and have tried a lot of their goods. Recently, I've been trying to cut back on sugar and I was SO happy to find out they offer sugar free candies. The sugar-free options are amazing!! They truly do not taste sugar free. When I don't care about my sugar intake... I've had everything from the chocolate covered nutter butters, fudge, chocolate covered oreos, coconut joys, dark chocolate marshmallow puffs, peanut clusters, sea salt caramels, truffles.... you name it. Everything in here is so rich and delectable. My favorite has to be the Chocolate Nutter Butters (I go for the dark chocolate kind)... get one for yourself!

J G.

Yelp
Great selection of chocolates and fudge. All tasted great. We reallt enjoyed it. The staff was super friendly and helpful, advising on what was okay with allergies and then carefully separating out the different chocolates. Great place!!!
google avatar

Debra V.

Yelp
A fun place. We stopped in to see the eclectic chocolate shapes of everything you can imagine, from cars to manicure sets to teeth impressions, like a mini chocolate museum. We each got a chocolate piece. Mine was the milk chocolate with caramel and sea salt and it was the best. Another was a morsel with fruit in the middle. Yum! And we got a bark piece of chocolate joy. Definitely check out this fun shop, and buy a piece of joy.

Gilat T.

Yelp
EVERY time I'm in Chicago I go to The Fudge Pot. It's a small, family owned and operated business in the same spot for at least 3 generations! Besides being one of the last remnants of Old Town Chicago from the 1960's, their fudge, chocolate confections, taffy apples (walnut or peanut) and more, are all made there, fresh and delicious. All of the employees are friendly and patient with the multiple questions and requests. They're open late and make special orders in advance! Support a delicious, local, small business that rocks :-)
google avatar

Moni K.

Yelp
First time at Fuge Pot for me! I thank the ladies for being very understanding and answering all my questions. It was so hard to pick. I love love chocolate. The results: chocolate covered pretzels...all gone now chocolate pecan....all gone now carmel Apple with walnuts...I am saving it for tomorrow for lunch unless hubby finds my stash.
google avatar

Yelp
Whoever may have beef with Fudge Pot, my bad, The Fudge Pot, whole time I wouldn't even trust em! First, they probably petty af, but I digress. If you're around in Old Town, make a stop by this shop, you won't regret it, the prices are well worth it, and you get what you pay for here, never a regret. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and fresh selections. Pro Tip: They close at 10PM Sunday-Thursday, midnight Fri-Sat so I'll usually leave the place I'm at and get my order and hold on to it the rest of the night, don't judge me! PROS: * Dope customer service and I come in here like almost at closing, like with 3 mins left lol, and they honor it! No attitude, still smiling and sometimes even chef'n up! * The selection; you can straight up get chocolate wasted here * Don't know how bruh... but no matter the time of day, chocolate strawberries are just like so good, juicy, like they were just picked, probably only had one sub-par one (like in 2 years) and it was still better than a Jewel's strawberry. * Toodles, turtles is trademarked, smart move, but these hold its weight any day CONS: * If one of my automatic go to's listed below is sold out, I'm in my feelings... My Automatic Go To's: * Caramel Apple w/ peanuts (always slice and eat for me, trust me its just better this way) * As mentioned above my chocolate dipped strawberries (can sometimes be sold out) * Chocolate Crunch, simply makes Nestle Crunch Bar a joke, like straight up
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
Oh my god this place is amazing. The chocolate butter toffee they sell is beyond addicting. You try a bite of that stuff and it makes you wonder why you ever even bother eating a Hershey's bar or any other mass produced chocolate. Cute store on the inside with tons of different themed chocolates and sweets. The Fudge Pot is a local gem and I hope I can get the toffee forever.
google avatar

Eddie F.

Yelp
Best chocolate shop ever! Great selection, a little pricy but def quality. Loved every bite and dangerous for being close to home. A must stop dessert spot for candy

Valerie N.

Yelp
Just stopped in and couldn't believe how charming it was there. Old school in the best way possible. All the classics plus lots of other nostalgic or interesting options. I tried a chocolate pretzel and it was delicious as expected. Definitely check them out for a sweet treat after dinner or a show nearby!
google avatar

La Tonya G.

Yelp
Very good but Expensive. This is a place I would go to if I wanted to treat myself for the day. I couldn't just go here as much as I would like because the prices are a little to steep for my pocketbook. The employees were great and the fudge was delicious. Matter a fact I wish I had some fudge right now...lol If you want a tasty treat then go no further then the Fudge Pot because they won't disappoint you. As always folks... Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Loved the almond bark milk chocolate, butter toffee...wow. the test is incredible. Went on a weekend and no wait. This was our first time but it was recommended on You Tubes Must Do in Chicago. Glad we did. T he shop is in an old town setting, but we just jumped off the bus and got our treats and went right back on...we were in a time crunch.

Yelp
I AM OFFICIALLY A FUDGE POT ADDICT!!! I knew that this review was my second update of the Fudge Pot. I also acknowledged that I went to the Fudge Pot every three days, and the owner recognized me by now. I am so glad that I do not live next to the Fudge Pot. Otherwise, I will not be able to wear my current pants. SO WHAT'S GOOD IN THE FUDGE POT? I highly recommend the FRZOEN CHOCOLATE BANANA! Initially, I was highly skeptical of the banana. Like most of you, I assumed that it would be no different from bananas dipped into chocolate, which I could easily make myself. However, surprisingly, the chocolate was thin and crispy. More importantly, the BANANA tasted like ICE CREAM. I felt like I were in heaven every time I ate this dessert. I would suggest you buying dark chocolate banana. Otherwise, it would be too sweet. I hope that my mum does not read this review. Otherwise, she will start yelling at me for either not sharing the food of the Fudge Pot with her or forcing me to run in the gym. Food: 5 Service: 3 Decor: 4
google avatar

Annette J.

Yelp
The Fudge Pot is one of the best places for chocolate delights. Birthdays, gifts giving, and party treats. Love the great assorted choices, taffy Apple's are made fresh too.

Felicia D.

Yelp
The product was great and the service excellent !!! The hours were also very good. Great location and. Order pickup service perfect for these times.

Yelp
Butter toffee: 4 Chocolate covered Oreos: 4 Service: 5 I have, unfortunately, been exposed to the chocolate covered Oreos and have been buying a box of a dozen every week. I never thought I'd love chocolate covered Oreos so much... but, they're so good, sweet and satisfying. Butter toffee is a must!
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Not what I expected when I arrived, this place was overpriced and just okay. I tried an Amaretto Truffle and Boyfriend tried a piece of Cashew Chocolate Bark. I have definitely had better fudge in North Carolina compared to here. If you want a custom piece in fudge or a piece of fudge around the area then this is your place. Unfortunately, it was not for me..
google avatar

Vicky U.

Yelp
No one knows about this place but it's a hidden gem. The butter toffee is the best in the world and the strawberries are like quadrupled dipped and buttery and u won't taste any ever like it. Pricey, wish there were GroupOns or something but the area is expensive so it's understandable. Fav choc place tho still!
google avatar

Marie P.

Yelp
You haven't lived until you have had chocolate from The Fudge Pot. EVERYTHING my family has purchased we have all loved, truly wonderful chocolate! My family has been going here for many, many years and will continue to do so as long as their doors are open. Fudge Pot is open during the pandemic with limited hours and curbside service. Please give them a try, they don't disappoint :)
google avatar

Saphir S.

Yelp
It wasn't what I expected. Everything is very overpriced. You can't really go wrong with anything covered in chocolate (I got the chocolate covered pretzels and strawberries), but the price alone makes me not want to come back. Though, the creative chocolates are fun to see'

Lynn F.

Yelp
First time making a purchase. Saw the owner on TV doing wonderful donations for our first responders so I thought I'd help him a little with my purchase. The fudge was delicious...bought 2 lbs & gave 1 away with same review. Fantastic!! Also bought a box of dark chocolate assortment....wow!! Dark chocolate at its best! A definite must to stop by and make a purchase. Carry out to your car with a very nice young man. See u again Fudge Pot!

Yelp
This was our fourth stop on the Gold Coast & Old Town Food Tour so I got to try the butter toffee at the the Fudge Pot. I'm not exactly a big fan of chocolate so this review is simply on my experience. This is such a cute little shop that's filled with fudge and different kinds of sweets. They have so many things such as cars, tools, animals, etc that that are all made of chocolate. I love that there are just so many cute things to look at here. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone especially Chocolate Lovers! It's such a cute little shop to just look at regardless if you like chocolate or not. They also have other sweets like caramel apples that looked really good. I will definitely have to come back and try that next time. Anyways, I really enjoyed his place and can't wait to come back to try their caramel apple since it looks really good as well!
