Fufu Nikko

This was our first Fufu experience and wow what a way to start. Everything here is impeccable, from the moment you we arrived at the carpark, you'd instantly know that you are in good hands. Every single staff was lovely to interact with, service was personable and extremely proactive and attentive. Food was great and the drinks selection was decent - they offered an agreeable champagne for free drink happy hour and if you want something nicer, a lot of good wines were available at extremely reasonable prices. The hotel had a feeling of a luxury safari tent or of the best of Amans. It is everything that a luxury hotel/ryokan could and should be. Even the other guests were all courteous, polite and friendly. We were constantly surprised by all the small gestures and stuff that the staff prepared for us. We won’t go into too much detail as we don’t want to spoil it for you, but if you were to visit Japan, you must make a detour to visit Fufu Nikko. It’s just THAT good. It's better than any hotels in Japan (even the Amans, and we consider ourselves Amanjunkies).||Room: We stayed at the lowest room category Stylish Suite. We were perfectly happy with it. We feel that rooms on the first floors offer easiest accessibility. We would likely be staying for 3 nights for our next visit, as Nikko has so much to offer and is the highlight of our trip.

ur stay at Fufu Nikko was truly relaxing and memorable. The facilities are excellent, with a beautifully designed property that feels both modern and tranquil. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring Nikko. We especially loved the indoor onsen pool , spacious, soothing, and perfect for a private, unhurried soak. The service throughout our stay was attentive and thoughtful, with staff always ready to assist while maintaining a warm, unobtrusive presence. A special mention goes to the unlimited Muscat tea, which was a delightful and refreshing touch that we genuinely enjoyed. While the food was enjoyable, we felt there is some room for improvement compared with other onsen hotels we’ve experienced. That said, it did not detract significantly from the overall experience. Overall, Fufu Nikko offers a calm, refined retreat with excellent comfort and service, and we would happily return for the onsen, ambiance, and restful atmosphere.

It was our first time staying at FUFU Nikko and we were so pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. Both the dinner and breakfast were incredible, beautifully prepared and truly memorable. The room was spacious and comfortable, and all the small details were so thoughtful. Even the tea was amazing. I’m a big tea lover, and both the welcome tea and the in-room tea were so good that I ended up buying several packs to bring home. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

We had an amazing stay Everything was calm, luxurious, and beautifully designed. The forest views were breathtaking, and the attention to detail in every corner really showed how much they care about guests’ experience. The staff were all very kind and welcoming, and the pre-dinner drink service in the lounge was a lovely touch that added to the relaxing atmosphere. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had great amenities, including a private onsen with a beautiful view - such a highlight. If I had to mention one downside, it’s that breakfast and dinner times need to be booked in advance, which makes things a bit less flexible when you just want to relax and go with the flow. We tried both the Japanese and Western menus - the private chef dinner was wonderful, though the regular dinner wasn’t quite to our taste and some dishes arrived cold. Overall, a truly special and peaceful place - we’d love to come back!

My husband and I had a splendid stay at Fufu Nikko! The food was exceptional and the locally sourced ingredients- from rice, Himitsu pork, to Yuba and freshly caught fishes, were very tasty. Room was spacious with a private onsen, and I loved the attention to detail! The service of the staff there was top notch, and they went above and beyond to meet our needs. Most of the staff spoke decent English, and we were also happy to learn some Japanese words from them. That’s part of the fun when traveling abroad! The only slightly unpleasant thing, was the Teppanyaki chef on the first night. He was more warm and polite with the Japanese guests and he kept us waiting for the food. As we were the last ones who were there finishing the soup, he left without saying goodbye, which had caused some confusion. But I wouldn’t let this spoil the whole experience we received from the rest of the amazing staff. We would love to come back and see more beautiful places in Nikko!

We had an amazing 3 night stay at Fufu Nikko. We had booked the Stylish Suite Room, and they were on the first floor, which actually may have been more preferred for us due to easy access. It is a small, intimate property, so the public onsen experience was always peaceful - as there were never any other guests there at the same time. The layout of the dining area was beautiful, and designed in such a unique way to make you feel like you were the most important and only guest in the property. Location was great - walking distance to botanical garden and imperial villa, and 3-5 min drive to the national park world heritage shrines. It's right on the main road for easy access to go west to Lake Chuzenji. Meals were amazing. They did take about 2 hours for dinners (with earliest start time at 18:00), so be prepared if you have children or elderly. The best part of the experience in my opinion was not necessarily the hard product of the property, but more so how attentive the staff were to us when we asked to change our meal times / type probably 3-4 times. I felt so bad we had to do this because to accommodate for our kids and grandparents, but they were so gracious with how to handled each request and always made it work out. They allowed our children to have their meals delivered to the room because the kaiseki meals were too long for them, allowed us to change one meal to a teppanyaki because our grandparents asked, and even still prepared an extra set of kaiseki courses when one grandparent couldn't eat. I really appreciated them for that. Thank you to an amazing staff for making our stay very personal and memorable - and my apologies again for the trouble with all those requests!

The butler service is really terrible, we already told this trip will pay by my side. However, they still give the bill to my mother and Aunt. Let them know the price and feel uncomfortable. The butler just say this is misunderstanding. But it’s already ruin the mood in this trip. I can’t believe this is the Michelin 2 keys hotel. In addition, the restaurant, room and food are all good. Please promote the butler’s quality to keep the hotel quality.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and truly did not want to leave. From the moment we arrived, exhausted after a long day of travel, we were welcomed with tea and the warmest service. The staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which immediately made us feel at home. Everything about our experience was exceptional: the staff, the food, the rooms, and the location. We stayed in the Luxury Corner Suite, and it was absolutely worth it to have our own private onsen. The room was stunning, with breathtaking views and spotless cleanliness when we arrived. The photos online really don’t do it justice. The hotel is less than 25 minutes from the lake and downtown, and the bus stop is conveniently located right outside the hotel, making it incredibly easy to get around. It’s a perfect location for exploring during the day and relaxing at night. They also provide comfortable lounge clothes, which we wore throughout our stay, so there’s no need to pack much unless you plan to spend time in town. The food was incredible. We were blown away by every meal. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and very filling. We tried every style of cuisine they offered and had so much fun discovering new flavors. Overall, this was the most relaxing, easy, and enjoyable way to unwind after our wedding. We are so grateful to the staff for their kindness and hospitality. We highly recommend staying here and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you so much, Fufu Nikko!
