7 Japanese onsens with spectacular cherry blossom views - SilverKris

"At the foot of Gozusan in Niigata Prefecture, the outdoor hot springs at Fuga no Yado Chouseikan are known for a high radium concentration believed to help clear skin; guests have enjoyed these inspirational views for over 150 years, and it’s said poets and writers frequented the onsen during the Meiji Era." - Dana Ter

A beautiful place to stay. The entrance/lobby has such an amazingly serene view from the sliding doors and decks. All seasons must be worthwhile to come to this hotel garden and see. I was here in winter so the gardens details were highlighted. The lobby also has great craft beer to enjoy before having the delicious food or after going to the large outside baths. You walk down a passageway and then go between two very large upright rocks to get to the outside hot spring. I had the large rocky hot water all to myself the 3 times I went there even though people were staying at the hotel. I love the icy cold air on my face while in these hot soothing waters with nature all around me. I felt as though I was in an alternative world after going through the large rocks to get to this hot nature paradise.|Will come again in a different season as i can imagine autumn to be so beautiful

I was really impressed with this hotel, especially since we came by motorcycle. The staff and management were very accommodating and spoke excellent English. They understood what we needed, which made things easy. The highlight was definitely the bath. It was one of the most relaxing I’ve had—big, clean, and well-maintained. They had several types of mineral water baths, and surprisingly, the same mineral water was available to drink from a tap in the lobby. The hospitality didn’t stop there. The manager even offered us free coffee and snacks, which was a nice touch. If you’re looking for a high-quality but reasonably priced Japanese hotel, especially for motorcycle touring, I’d highly recommend this place. We’re already planning to come back.

One of the largest inns in Murasugi onsen area. We enjoyed the stay. It has a large lobby with very nice view of the garden. The garden is very large and well maintained and nice to look at. I wish this was spring as I would see a lot more activities. The room was nice, having adjourning room for sleeping. Food was great and the accommodate my request for no meat. The bath was large and pleasant. January 2025 The private bath is rustic and so nice.

We spent one night in Choseikan. The most impressive part of this hotel is its Radium Onsen and its spacious garden. The radium hot spring is drinkable. The room is Japanese style and spacious. My husband and I were very refreshed after this summer retreat. We look forward to coming back more often in future.

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. Bullet train from Tokyo to Niigata, a local train and then 1 more single-car train ride and you`re almost there. The Inn will pick you up from town. The water and rotenburo in particular are great; next to the warm soaking area is a very cool temperature soak--invigorating is 1 word that comes to mind. The food is fresh and healthy, available in different amounts, depending what package you purchase. Advisable to have a Japanese language speaker in your party, to keep things simpler. Local, very simple but friendly, attractions include a small museum recreating the governor`s living quarters and legal court; a do-it-yourself pottery shop (we had a ball), gardens/restaurant, and a public foot-soaking area to experience their famous waters. The Inn will shuttle you, or a local taxi is fair priced. You may not want to leave the on-sen inn, though.

Chouseikan made special arrangement to pick us up at the gate of Suntopia World. Typically they do free pick-up and drop off at Niigata station. We were really grateful for this special arrangement which really save us the trouble of making our own way there after a long day.||||The extra perk offered by Chouseikan for Home Page booking was a 1000JPY coupon for spending within their compound. ||||The room, onsen and garden were great. We also enjoyed the multi coursed dinner. I used the 1000JPY coupon on sake served in frozen bamboo, definitely a must try!

There is a big stone in a turtle shape in the onsen pool. The onsen was very good. And the staff is helpful.
