FUGLEN ASAKUSA

Came just after 12pm and the place was quite busy but still very fast turnaround with both dine ins and takeaway orders. I ended up with a single hot cafe latte and a pain aux chocolate (just a tad over ¥1400). The coffee was piping hot which was excellent with the 6 degree weather outside and the pastry was crunchy and tasty. The interior vibe was also really cool! Definitely worth a visit and highly recommend!

Nice all-day breakfast place on the pricier side. We got waffles, cappuccino and Irish coffee. They ask if you want a single espresso shot or double which is unusual for Japanese coffee shops. Irish coffee had a bit too much whiskey, but I was happy to see it on the menu! It usually gets crowded after lunch, but this time we went around 12:30 and managed to get a table without waiting

Such a cozy place with an amazing atmosphere, food and service. If you are traveling to Japan as a foreigner and you feel a need to have a familiar breakfast in contrast to a lot of local Japanese food - here is the place for you. I went here for two mornings in a row and tried the Brown Cheese Waffle and the Smashed Avocado waffle - both were delicious! Also tried «Today’s coffee » - such a high quality treat. Also, despite a queue, I wound myself a comfortable seat within 5 minutes. Staff is very hardworking, friendly and polite. Thank you, Fuglen Asakusa!

I came across this modern and cozy looking cafe during my night stroll at Asakusa and decided to came back again next day for a morning coffee. We arrived around 9.30AM and there was a queue outside the store. We waited for around 15 mins to get to the cashier and just wait for a short time for our coffee. We took our way to the 2nd floor to get some seats (1st floor was packed) and luckily there was some seats available for us! We ordered a hot cafe latte and and an iced americano. Coffee was great, and I loved their playlist as well. We enjoyed our time there, such a great way to start our day exploring Asakusa area.

This is definitely an overrated and overpriced spot. The waffles taste good, but they are hard, thin, and dense. For the price (1900¥), the melon waffle should absolutely have more than just two grapes and three small bites of melon on it. Also, the stale and flavorless cracker puffs on top are unnecessary. Does that fruit waffle look like it’s worth 1900¥/$12 to you? On the positive side, the coffee is good. The coffee of the day, an Ethiopian bean, was really tasty—even to coffee snobs. The coffee prices are relatively fair compared to the food prices. Overall, it’s decidedly not worth the cost or the usual line out the door!

Busy coffee shop in Asakusa. Had one of their breakfast plates. Unfortunately screwed up my order twice. But the coffee was good and the atmosphere was cool.vert Scandinavian mid century vibe.

The vibes of this cafe are immaculate. I had the Christmas Waffle today and it was to die for! I’ve never had a waffle this delicious in my life. Perfect for Christmas Eve this morning. I also had a shakeratto latte and it was amazing! I suggest sitting upstairs, going up those winding stairs was mesmerizing.

The breakfast was really good, the ingredients are high quality. I just wish they could serve the hot coffee order with the rest of the meal and not the coffee first and minutes later the rest of the order since the coffee gets a little cold.

I saw Fuglen on youtube from a blogger of course and the Norwegian waffles were the draw. Located away from the hustle/bustle of Asaksa is Flugen. Small shop with indoor and outdoor seating. After ordering, you'll get a pager for your order. The iced coffee was bitter and adding sugar did not help. The Norwegian waffle was good. I'm more of a pancake person over waffles. But knew I wanted to try these. Light with a little crisp. The chocolate ganache was a nice added touch. Kind of reminds you of an elevated Nutella. $11 for both, not bad at all!

I've been to this coffee shop before when I visited Japan the first time around back in September. My hotel was conveniently nearby this coffee shop so I had to visit again. I ordered the caffe latte as well as the Norwegian waffle with brown cheese, sour cream, and mixed berry. The waffle was delicious and the toppings were in perfect harmony with each other. It was slightly tart and a tad bit sweet. And the latte was a nice pick me up to start the day! The baristas were very friendly and the environment felt comfortable and warm, so you feel welcomed in. They do have more locations in other parts of Japan, so I would highly recommend trying this coffee shop out. They even open early, so if you're a bit of an early bird, that is a huge plus!

Food is average but ambiance and service is 5 stars. The waffles are the European style very thin and bready ( I would have preferred a little more cooked). We ordered one of everything for the waffle la and one of the sour dough dishes. They opened at a 8 on time with 10 of us online and then at 8:40 a long line out the door. Seems to be very popular among foreigners. Nice to visit to see the Japanese interpretation of this cuisine. Coffee menu is nice.

This was a nice little Norwegian spot. Very clean. No table service, but that's ok. It's popular especially on the weekend. Line forms just :30m after opening (Sunday). Music inside ranges from western hip hop to 50s-60s. I went here twice, first just for coffee--actually hot choco since they don't serve decaf--then for breakfast. I got the waffle with scrambled eggs, sausage and sautéd spinach. Very tasty. It's best to have a companion to get a spot at table while you order.

I highly recommend taking-in the Sensoji Temple and adjoining shrine at night. They're all lit up and the crowd size is about 80% less than during the day which provides for a tranquil experience. Walk west and you'll pass through the covered Nishi Sando shopping street, this coffee bar is at the end. I loved the Shakerato espresso drink. Music, service, and ambiance were great.

Would leave negative stars if I could. This was my worst casual cafe experience in my life thus far. I felt discriminated and unwelcome. I got kicked out from BOTH indoor and outdoor seating on a cold non-busy Wednesday evening at 8pm. Decided to visit here after dinner for some beer and cocktails drinks after seeing great reviews and word-of-mouth for being foreigner-friendly, but ended up being treated very poorly by the pretentious barista. We asked some basic questions about items on the menu and was approached with a rude attitude. My group of 7 were rejected at the door from even proceeding into the cafe because there weren't enough seats for us when clearly there were tons of empty seats. It wasn't a communication issue. After we were refused from indoor, we decided to sit at the outdoor bench on the street, then took turns ordering at the counter so we can watch our bags. The SAME BARISTA took the extra effort to kick us out again after we ordered four drinks while others in our party were still reading the menu and deciding what to order. His rude attitude about the one-drink-per-person policy really made us uncomfortable. We were eyed on like thieves. Two people from our party had just finished ordering and it just felt like the barista wanted us to leave. He treated other customers very differently and politely. We got so uncomfortable so we barely finished our drinks and left. Also, the price is not cheap at all, pretty expensive for Asakusa. Not to mention, cocktails were not made correctly. My hot wine was just warmed up cheap wine, not even as good as ones I've had elsewhere or made at-home.

I stopped by Fuglen to pick up a cup of iced latte after visiting the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. The establishment is quite new and clean, and the baristas spoke good English. The latte was pretty average in my opinion. It was a big glass with probably 1/4 of espresso and 3/4 milk. Rather than calling it a latte, I would call it coffee milk lol. However, I did really enjoy sitting on the second floor and just people watching from above. It was a very comfortable space to relax after walking around. Overall, Fuglen is a pretty decent cafe. Rather than getting a latte next time, I would probably try other coffee beverages.

LUCKY WE FOUND THIS PLACE! I was hesitate about ordering greens on Belgian waffles because I always found waffles to be associated with sweets. But ordering the avocado Belgian waffle was my best decision! I love goat cheese so that's what really got me but the Belgian waffle itself had flavor. It had a hint of sweetness and the texture was crispy on the outside! Everyone who ordered seem to enjoy their waffle. The only part that didn't satisfy us that much was the service. We DID order 5 waffles so it took an average of 10 minutes per waffle. So by the time the last waffle came out it took it 30 minutes. The drinks were also a bit pricer than other cafes Highly recommend eating here though!!! Would come back!

Great service. Very few seats. Can't order a breve mocha. My search continues for breve mocha in Japan. Food is ok...not up to Bay Area standards. I'd pass on ordering food.

Honestly the coffee is overpriced and quite mediocre. We got the latte (hot) and mocha (iced) and the latte was at best milk with a splash of weak coffee. The mocha on the other hand was pretty good with a somewhat herbal note (may be bay or rosemary) and is definitely more complex in flavor. Interior of the cafe is amazing and in a adorable part of asakusa! Definitely an IG friendly cafe.

These guys know what they are doing. Tried a few different coffee and their espresso and it was all delicious. Loved their pastries and savory waffle too.
