This family-run inn is the cutest little getaway from the big cities. It's conveniently located right next to a bus stop so, you won't have to walk very far to get to the inn. The inn is run by a family with the cutest grandma I've ever met! The owner personally greeted me and showed me around the inn. I also, very foolishly, came with a bunch of check in luggage. Looking back, it was actually really very hilarious. The owner helped us out and set up a luggage delivery service for us and had our luggage sent to our next hotel! The owner and the grandma speak fluent English so everything went very smoothly. The hot spring was so relaxing, I went twice a day. There were no issues with reserving a slot to enjoy the bath. The inn features both an indoor and outdoor hot spring bath and both are really very clean and relaxing. We paid for a breakfast for each day we were there. The breakfast is a western style meal with toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and egg salad. There's also coffee and tea. I had actually forgotten I paid for a breakfast on my check out day and the grandma of the inn prepared us a breakfast! It was very sweet of her to accommodate us. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel!

All I can say is Wow!! The location, The Host, everything here was amazing. I felt so welcomed staying here. Being able to share and enjoy a couple of games as well as knowledge woth our host was so much fun. And the Private Onsen was soooo relaxing. Being a person with hard to hide tattoos i was really worried I would miss the chance to try and Onsen while travelling to Japan. But the team at Fuji-Hakone guesthouse were very accepting to people with tattoos. Even asked me about a couple of mine. absolute 5 star experience next time im in Japan I will certainly be staying with them for longer than 1 night

We had a wonderful family stay at Fuji Hakone Guest House. It truly offers everything you’d expect from a traditional Japanese guest house. The place is spotless, and we loved using the indoor and outdoor onsen every day. A special shout-out to the hosts for the warmest welcome—they were always available, helpful, and happy to chat. Thank you again for such a lovely experience!

The Fiji-Hakone guest house is a wonderful place to stay, nestled in the mountains of Hakone, Japan! It is a welcoming and comfortable place to stay and is ran by a very friendly family making it a unique experience! It has two natural hot spring baths outside and inside that need to be signed up for in advance. Also, the outdoor bath costs an extra ¥500 for 20 minutes. The indoor bath is free and you can reserve it for 30 minutes at a time. The only negative is the location. You need to take a 40 minute bus ride from Hakone-Yumoto station to get there and once there the closest convenience store is about a ten minute walk. The guesthouse does have a book with nearby restaurants and some of them offer to pick you up from the guesthouse and drop you off after you finish eating.

We did not have a hotel reservation and visited in the hope of using the outdoor onsen. We were welcomed really warmly by the host at the property who was lovely and accommodating. We were able to purchase a day pass to privately enjoy the bath on an hourly rate. The water is a beautiful milky colour, really hot and coming directly from the volcanic sulfur source. We had a fantastic time bathing at the Fuji-Hakone Guest House. They are also tattoo-friendly.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for our first two nights in Japan, and it was a wonderful experience. The property offered an authentic traditional Japanese atmosphere, complemented by surprisingly comfortable futon beds. I especially loved the indoor and outdoor onsens, which could be reserved for private use—a real highlight of our stay. Tatsuya was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring all our needs were met with genuine kindness. This place truly made our trip unforgettable, and I look forward to returning in the future.

Like staying with a Japanese family! A truly wonderful and memorable stay at Fuji-Hakone. So cosy and felt like we were part of the family. Great onsens. Beautiful Japanese style bedrooms. Wonderful hosting. I would love to come back and stay.

An incredible location in the beautiful countryside of Hakone. Easy access to buses, local restaurants and convenience stores. The guest house is obviously very well looked after and cared for. The hosts are incredibly friendly, speak very good English and have put a lot of love into the place. The private onsen is a privilege I didn't expect to have, especially as I have a tattoo, but it worked out perfectly. I'd strongly recommend looking to stay here if visiting Hakone and would look to come again next time I'm in Japan.
