Hidden gem. Haven't been to such a nice museum in quite a while. Is also worth it just for the amazing matcha and dango that can be ordered in the entrance area.

A fine museum featuring the personal collection of a wealthy man. Set in peaceful gardens to the north of Osaka Castle. There is also a restaurant in the gardens. Much less busy than Osaka Castle, and of course with a focus on material culture. Can be reached by walking north from Osaka Castle Park. Can easily visit both attractions in a day and still have time left over to visit other places in the city.

A private art boutique museum right next to JR station, spending an hour here is more than enough. It is currently showing 14-18th centuries’ Japanese and Chinese antiques, not particularly interesting while the exhibition is relatively small with Japanese only explanations. After visiting the exhibition, the place will guide you to the garden with traditional Japanese gardening landscape, definitely worth the visit- the park itself is free to enter by the left entrance of the place. The lobby area is very nice that you can get a set of hand mixed tea (Matcha , Sencha etc) in unique ceramic containers, with 2 bean paste snacks, costs ¥500 per set.

While the building is architecturally arresting and the staff are friendly—the exhibit pieces are very few indeed. Beautifully lit and displayed with care and elegance —but less than 25 pieces for a 1000¥ ticket may be stretching it. The GARDEN behind it was a better draw and quite free at that. If you’re up for a quiet day by a quiet and beautiful park—this place is for you.

We spent an hour in this museum before heading to the Osaka Castle. They have walk-in tickets available for tourists and the commentary is available in English. The museum is more like a private collection with a small garden so please expect a 40-90 min of visit.

I only visited the Japanese tea cafe in this space after completing a cycling tour of Osaka. The cafe is beautiful and serene. The staff are friendly and teach you elements of the tea ceremony. The large cups and traditional tea pots are beautifully made. Included in the tea set is mochi. The cafe wasn't too busy when we visited at 2pm.

An incredible little museum, which when we were attending had some beautiful very old Japanese pieces. The museum staff were very friendly and helpful, and the museum includes a fully English description of all the pieces which made our visit so much better. It also has a beautiful place serving matcha and dango and an absolutely incredible garden that was beautiful to sit in in it's own right. Would highly recommend this over the main Osaka museum.

We came at early afternoon on Sunday and the atmostphere was amazing. Tranquil and calmness at its best. Such a hidden gem in Osaka. This is the combination that you can both enjoy the transition colors of mimoji inside and outside. Taking a walk to the river was also very relaxing. They have open tea bar so you can actually see how the matcha/tea set in the making. Around 3:30 pm the place getting more people line up, but the vibe remains as it is. I really enjoy the experience 🍁🍂

Yelp
Beautiful serene museum. Tea and mochi for 500 Y = $3.50! Select from three different teas. Pango: One savory mochi and one Sweet one.

Yelp
A really calming museum to visit! I wasn't expecting to spend more than 1.5 hours here but I did! This museum was recently renovated and it sure does look like a new one! The museum has some intriguing historical artifacts that are from hundreds of years ago. The garden at the back also felt serene and calming! I would recommend trying their dango . They have 2 flavors: sweet and salty. For those that don't know what dangos are, they are basically mochi skewers. Overall, this is an ideal place for a "chill day" and would recommend it to anyone who loves to see artifacts and appreciate pretty garden views! Tips: - The museum isn't free but they are worth the money with all things considered.
