I enjoyed this little Asian art museum. It’s just a few floors above one of the main subway lines. So super easy to get to. The focus is on contemporary Asian art, and it has samples from Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. they also have regular shows. And there is a coffee shop in the space as well.

I am a little confused about some of the other reviews referencing 1,000 or 2,000 yen for entrance... Maybe something has changed. The entrance is very cheap. It is only 200 yen. I happily would have paid more than that! And I felt that the exhibition was wonderful. I really enjoyed my time here. It has art from all over Asia, there's not really art from Japan, with the focus modern art, a lot of which reflects political events of the past 20 years. I thought it was really interesting, especially the uterus man piece which I loved. Also, the cafe is completely adorable, and the giant food pillows you can play in are just as fun for adults as they are for kids! All the art is signed in both English and Japanese.

I always stop by this museum whenever I go to Fukuoka. The permanent exhibition features a good selection of Asian artists. I was in luck as the special exhibition at this time featured Tezuka Osamu’s Blackjack. Conveniently located in Riverrain Mall above Nakasu Kawabata subway station.

Enjoy a nice couple hours at the art museum, special exhibit of a well-known Japanese cartoonist. Y1,900 for 2

The pieces on display were cool and contained a lot of history in them. There was also an artist's gallery that you can access for free! The artist himself was there and gave us a background on the theme of the collection on display. He even asked us for feedback and our interpretation of his art. I did expect more from the museum's permanent display since they boasted a collection of 5,000 pieces, but I don't think all were accessible to guests. The museum also has a library where you can relax and read books. Perfect way to get to know more about different kinds of art and their history.

Again like any other museum in Japan very little content, we arrived during an exhibition of modern artist so the rooms with more traditional japanese art we wanted to see for already 2 weeks were just closed. Very deceiving when you come from far away to see a country heritage and end up with nothing but modern art exhibitions that are all over the earth right now. It's a great shame to see an authentic art museum closing national art exhibitions just to get more money (permanent exhibition 500 yen and the limited exhibition 2200, pretty simple to do the math and see why they closed it). Total desapointment, be careful and read the Web pages before, even tho there was no information about the permanent exhibition been closed until we were presented a sticker at the ticket office that showed the permanent exhibition closed.

I really liked this museum. It’s not huge (which is also nice, frankly) but all the pieces were both beautiful and included contextual information about the artist and/or culture with which to then take another look at the pieced to gain even more. The art was great, the curatorial approach was great. Really glad I came here. The entrance was only 200 yen. There was an exhibit on the same floor where you could put 1900 and it would include entrance to the regular museum but I skipped it because I didn’t recognize the manga it was based on.

Well curated, great place to bring kids to learn Art but make sure they are behaved and don't disturb other people. They have a coffee space which can pick books to read.
