Stunning architecture and excellent exhibitions inside. The permanent exhibition effectively narrates Fukuoka’s history of sea trading and is very interactive. Spending 60 to 90 minutes here is quite enjoyable!

¥200 entrance fee for the two regular exhibitions. Informative and diverse exhibits that narrated the story of Fukuoka. Quite interesting to learn about the history of the land. Could easily spend 1 hour here.
Plenty of parking space, all free.

Good value at 200¥. Not much English and the audio guide wasn’t great but I learned something.

This museum had a very interesting and dynamic exhibition of the history of the area. The exhibitions were in different kinds of art, puppet, wood, paper, etc really worth watching.
Later there is an exhibition of the different traditions and festivals that is incredible, especially the carriages from the summer festival.
It was a wonderful experience!

¥200 will get you access to the permanent exhibit with tons of knowledge and culture. Loved it. I wouldn't come all the way to this area for the museum but if you're planning on going to the zoo or the Fukuoka tower, then this might be worth your time

Well organized by eras from the prehistoric time to the modern day. The museum area is the site of many burial artifacts. A must see for those interested in history of Japan. Going here helped me put events into temporal perspective.
