Fulham palace was another little gem we read about. Also free. Easy walk. Lots of interesting history, beautiful gardens, nice cafe looks out to the massive lawn and trees. I even enjoyed walking thru the cemetery and looking at historic markers. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Fantastic experience in the palace, museum, gardens. Botanical gardens here are the 2nd oldest in London. Kids friendly place. Family friendly place also. Home of the Bishops of London from 704 AD. Last Bishop of London to stay here with his family was in 1973. Chapel is superb. Toilets are clean, well maintained. Paintings are few, but well preserved.

Free tickets. Great historical preservation. The kids and I had fun treasure hunting for secret artifacts and 🐁. The staff were friendly. The walled Garden was beautiful 😍. Great for outdoor events too, perhaps a date or wedding for all lovers seeking to dare the path angels dread 😃 . Overall, definitely a big yes on recommendation, so worth it!

Amazing place to visit and free!! the wall garden is one of the best you’ll see in London. The café is fantastic and there is plenty of seating outside and the grounds are extensive.. you can then incorporate to walk along the river all the way to Hammersmith

Beautiful history palace outside of the centre. The palace is the former residence of the Bishop of London, now there is a small museum with free entrance, a cafe and a beautiful garden. Perfect for a picnic, directly next to the Thames.

Easy journey from Waterloo. Northern line to Embankment then District line to Putney bridge. ( Going to Wimbledon) At Putney bridge looks down the river to see the starting point of the Oxford Cambridge boat race. Lovely welcome & information from staff. Lovely café and plenty of toilets. Not much furniture in the house as it was taken by the bishops. The grounds are beautiful with families making use of the area for picking. We particularly liked the wall garden and never seen so many bumblebees in one place before. The bee bails in the outer wall were interesting. We had some lovely soup in the café. The nearby armshouses Sir W Powell are wonderful. Another place worth popping into is the crazy bookshop in fulham high street see photo.

Excellent Tudor heritage off the tourist track with beautiful grounds and a Tudor kitchen garden cultivated since sixteenth century

A lovely free excursion suitable for everyone of all ages. The palace and palace grounds are both free to access and the large grounds are wonderful for children to play in and explore. You can spend a few hours plundering the palace and its beautiful rooms as well as the pretty garden, and then take a rest at the lovely quaint cafe, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend a visit during the Christmas season and during a sunny summer's day.

Yelp
Fulham Palace is a great spot to visit when visiting London. It's an easy tube ride from the heart of the city and gives you a feel of the grand homes and gardens that adorn the British countryside. Even better, admission is free! The best part of Fulham is the beautiful gardens that you can spend time walking through and exploring. The house has a lovely interactive exhibit that walks you through the history of the building. For over 1,300 years, since AD 704, the house had been a residence to over 133 Bishops of London that lived here. They used it as an escape from the dirty city of London. You walk through the beautiful gate to the house and through a tiny door that opens up onto a large courtyard. The start of the exhibit through the house begins to the door at your left that walks you through the gift shop. The gardens are home to the second oldest botanic garden in London. There are over 13 acres of garden to step through. Don't miss the walled garden. It is delightful! To top of your experience be sure to stop in at the cafe for a bite of food or drink. The cafe offers some incredible lunch or bakery items. They had many gluten-free options as well. The food was fresh and delightful. Nothing like eating delish food with an incredible view.

Yelp
It was a nice quiet area to visit. We did it on our last day in the city and it was a good change of pace. The gardens are very nice, it's close to the Thames river so you can walk that path as well. They also have a small little cafe that serves remarkably good food, coffee and tea. On top of that, the grounds are free to visit but donations are welcome.

Yelp
Its not often that I spend a Sunday afternoon wandering around some gardens, a museum and a very pleasant coffee house, but this was definitely quite a treat. As we spent most of our time in the cafe, I'll focus on this. They have a very good selection of cakes (See photo below) although the pricing is all over the place - carrot cake for £3.50(?!) and yet a top notch pain au chocolat for £1.50. That aside, it all looked extremely delicious, and the coffee was excellent (See photo below) After ordering our food and drinks we settled down at one of the tables. Fortunately every one had left, so we could sit in complete peace surveying the crisply kept lawn through the large stately windows. I think I might rate this the no.1 place to have coffee in London! On our way we had a quick peek at some of the art on display - definitely worth a visit at some point. We then strolled along the river: the first time I've seen the Putney boathouses from this angle. All in all a very good place to spend a couple of hours. As we left someone remarked that it would be a very good location for a summer drinks party: hopefully I will be returning in the coming months.

Yelp
Trying on a wedding dress at a shop in Toronto, my sister was asked where she was getting married... "Fulham Palace, in London" "A PALACE!! Are you a princess??" Sadly not, as that would make me Prince Tom E (the Duke of Yelp?) But, yes... Fulham Palace is available for private hire and it was a fantastic setting for a wedding. It feels less like a royal palace and more like a big old country mansion. In London that makes it an oddity and a rarity to boot. It's worth a visit if you're ever in Putney to see what the old Bishop used to live like (it was his gaff) and they have a wicked good cafe with plush sofas under chandeliers and a view out into the long country garden filled with wild flowers and roses. It's a perfect stop to relax on a sunny summer afternoon, but the palace always feels welcoming even in winter too. As the listing says, it also holds art and you'll typically find a new sculpture or installation added every year or so, but don't expect too much. The palace is the real star.

Yelp
This review is for the coffee house inside the palace, not the palace itself. This charming little coffee house is wonderfully decorated with an assortment of sofas, mismatched chairs, tables, benches and stools. It looks and feels very comfortable and cozy. The coffee and snack selection isn't huge, but everything is very well made from quality ingredients, fresh and delicious. They even have a few vegan pastry options! The view from the cafe into the gardens is beautiful, the palace gardens are definitely worth a visit! The only deduction is for the prices being quite steep, even for the area.

Yelp
Came here as part of Open House London. The palace is quite small but is located in the beautiful Bishops Park in Putney. Although it is called a Palace, it is a place where the Bishops of London lived. There are a couple art and historically interesting exhibitions within the palace. We had a tour around the palace and were shown the attic, which is not shown to visitors normally. It was pretty interesting to see the original wood work and how the chandelier was being held up. Overall a cute little palace and I would definitely recommend stopping in to walk around the gardens and view the exhibitions.

Yelp
The Fulham Palace was the 'country retreat' of the London Bishops since the 11th century. The palace was re-furbished last year and reopened its doors in the winter '06. It is a gorgeous venue for a wedding, a special party or an office get-together. We hired the palace for a business party and it was a real success. The rooms are airy and comfortable, the architecture is superb and the catering was great. The palace is a bit off the beaten track (which is the only downside for a business party) but the advantage is that the building is set in the middle of botanic gardens - which make a fabulous backdrop during spring and summer. Well recommended if you are looking for an affordable yet stylish and original venue.

Yelp
For me, the special part of Fulham Palace lays in it's grounds. Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, the palace has an air of mystery about it. The gardens are home to many tame Squirrels, who follow your every move around the grounds. An ideal place for a Sunday walk, picnic or frisbee games with the little ones, the grounds behold a herb garden, a windy path, a climbing tree and a secret 'wild garden' at the very back, which you enter underneath a brick arch. An ideal place to teach little ones about nature, and to feed the squirrels and other such wholesome activities. There are tours of the actual palace itself during the week and at selected times over the weekend. Limited parking.
