An In-Depth Guide to Seeing the Maldives on a Budget in 2025

"Described as a prettier, quieter island reachable from Maafushi and Mahibadhoo, Fulidhoo is recommended for travelers seeking a calmer, more local island visit." - Matthew Kepnes

Maldives Fulidhoo is a small yet charming island located in Vaavu Atoll, Maldives. Surrounded by turquoise waters and blessed with a stunning white sandy beach, this local island offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. The island feels lively and welcoming, with many guesthouses and boutique hotels that cater to both local and international visitors. Fulidhoo is popular among tourists for its shark feeding experience — an exciting opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic Maldivian island vibe. The locals are incredibly friendly and kind, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. Though small, the island has a warm community feel, with only a few local children playing around and residents going about their daily lives peacefully. If you wish to experience the real Maldivian culture and lifestyle away from crowded resorts, Fulidhoo is one of the best islands to visit.

Very nice, cosy, tiny island with good value for money. There are beautiful sun rises and sunsets plus perfect place for snorkelling, scuba diving and sun bathing. You should stay longer in here than a week. 3 days stay will also do the trick but memories will stay will You for much longer 😎

Beautiful island that is small and peaceful but has plenty of highlights - sharks and stingrays always at the beach. Great excursions for sharks and sea turtles. Sandbank and island excursions. We stayed at The Mureed and were very very happy !!

Small local island. Kind people. Efficient baggage service. Has a nice new bikini beach with little shade. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for hotel guests only. There are some public ones under the trees if you are lucky to get them.

An incredible destination with surreal blue waters and abundant marine life, although there's a concern about coral degradation due to practices to attract tourists. Accommodation, transport, and activities are relatively pricey. It's advisable to carry USD cash to avoid unfavorable currency conversion rates and credit card fees. Unfortunately, there's a visible trash issue, particularly at Bikini Beach West, raising concerns about its future as a pristine destination. Opting for the public ferry is a cost-effective and scam-free transportation choice, saving you a substantial amount. Avoid the speedboats!
