Cherry Blossom Festival has come to an end this year; but its cultures and traditions will continue to live on. I thought it was about time I tried the Japanese curry before I'll try other different cultural dishes on certain days. Trying new types of food shows how much I broaden my horizons.
Fumi Japanese Curry & Ramen was one decent restaurant that has its variety of best curry selections. Despite its mediocre, classical interior, service with a smile is what makes good business; both customers and wait staff alike. A male chef was absolutely comfortable to talk to when he came to my table. Forward but not knowledgeable enough, he did a good job living up to customer expectations. Plus, the curry rice plate he made came to my table in a matter of minutes!
First off, a broad cup of miso shiro. It had diced tofu, green onions, wakami, and scallions. Its variety and saltiness level was just right. Crazy matcha milk tea without black pearls; its tea powder was bitter and discolored due to months-long oxidation. Still a good way to drink ice cold in case I'm eating a spicy curry. Now for the main dish. Behold! Black Curry with vegetables over brown rice, and side salad at the right side (pictured below). Over 2 substitutes: squid ink curry and brown rice. Mixed warm veggies: broccoli and fried tofu. Spiciness level: 2 chili peppers. After finishing the salad, I mixed the remaining contents altogether for a better curry experience. Even though the squid ink flavor was tasteless, its spiciness level was as good as the other veggie curry from Nippon Curry of Fillmore. I enjoyed every spoonful until there were no leftovers.
I'm sure everyone loves Fumi Japanese Curry as much as I do. Their kare raisu dishes left us diners feeling satisfied. Might come to Fumi if I'm in the mood for curry. Choosing substitutes like brown rice costs extra, but they're worth my time and for my health. That's the way of a diner! (ÒwÓ)b
