Located on a side street near Turtle Bay, Fumi Shrimp is a shrimp specialty joint that is part of the North Shore's renowned food scene. We happened upon this casual eatery during lunchtime and decided to give it a try.
The service speed was slower than one might expect from a street food venue. Despite the absence of a long queue during our visit, the wait time was considerably longer than anticipated.
The menu is straightforward but does not disappoint. Each dish - be it the Butter Garlic Shrimp, Spicy Garlic Shrimp, or Tempura Shrimp - comes with seasoned rice and a slice of pineapple, providing a simple yet satisfying meal. The highlight was obviously the shrimps, which, especially in the Butter Garlic Shrimp, were brimming with umami courtesy of the garlic butter. The Tempura Shrimp was a familiar comfort dish, the sweet chili dip adding a pleasant kick, though it didn't leave a lasting impression.
Given the reasonably portioned meals and the relatively affordable price point, Fumi Shrimp is certainly worth a visit, especially if you're in the area. The North Shore is famed for its shrimp offerings, and Fumi Shrimp stands as a testament to this reputation. However, while it's worth trying, it might not be the place I'd go out of my way to visit again.
