"Great Garlic Shrimp on the North Shore If you're in Oahu's North Shore area, stop for lunch at Fumi's Kahuku Shrimp truck — it's the one with a mural of a gigantic, rearing shrimp. They're not rock-bottom cheap, but you get a lot for your money; $13 gets you a plate piled high with fat, juicy shrimp dripping with garlic butter, two big scoops of rice, and a (skippable) salad. Seating is outdoor-only on plastic tables and chairs, but it's probably the best option for these messy, delicious peel-and-eat shrimp. The pond where they farm their shrimp is right next to where the truck is parked, so you can't get any fresher than that!"

Located on a side street near Turtle Bay, Fumi Shrimp is a shrimp specialty joint that is part of the North Shore's renowned food scene. We happened upon this casual eatery during lunchtime and decided to give it a try. The service speed was slower than one might expect from a street food venue. Despite the absence of a long queue during our visit, the wait time was considerably longer than anticipated. The menu is straightforward but does not disappoint. Each dish - be it the Butter Garlic Shrimp, Spicy Garlic Shrimp, or Tempura Shrimp - comes with seasoned rice and a slice of pineapple, providing a simple yet satisfying meal. The highlight was obviously the shrimps, which, especially in the Butter Garlic Shrimp, were brimming with umami courtesy of the garlic butter. The Tempura Shrimp was a familiar comfort dish, the sweet chili dip adding a pleasant kick, though it didn't leave a lasting impression. Given the reasonably portioned meals and the relatively affordable price point, Fumi Shrimp is certainly worth a visit, especially if you're in the area. The North Shore is famed for its shrimp offerings, and Fumi Shrimp stands as a testament to this reputation. However, while it's worth trying, it might not be the place I'd go out of my way to visit again.

We ordered a few butter garlic shrimp, spicy shrimp and chicken katsu to try. Food came quick. The spicy shrimp had the perfect spice level. The butter garlic shrimp were perfectly buttery without tasting too oily. Definitely recommend Fumi’s over Giovannis!

VERY tasty stop on the north shore! The shrimps are farmed right in back. Very fresh! Flavors are super tasty and the rice is fantastic covered in large garlic pieces. So yum! We had the spicy and garlic butter shrimp plates. Price seems high at first but you get very full. There is even a sink to wash your hands! Perfect stop. **Cash only. So make sure to have USD $.

Fumi's is great. The shrimp is so fresh and the different flavors are all delicious. We had the garlic, spicy, coconut, and tempura. All come with two scoops of rice, corn, and pineapple. The chicken katsu was also delicious and not greasy at all. Very crispy and flavorful. My friend also had the cheeseburger which was good. They have a bathroom and hand washing station. Counter service and outdoor seating only. Definitely a hidden gem.

Very good large shrimp here. It tasted obviously fresh and was deveined. A big plus. I went here early afternoon as a bunch of tour groups just arrived. But a received my food within twenty minutes which wasn't that bad. Price is 16 dollars for a plate with at least seven shrimp, mushy rice and a slice of pineapple. I chose the spicy garlic shrimp flavour. I also got the Dole whip for eight dollars which was pretty good and ample in size. Overall I liked the place and loved seeing the mongooses in the back waiting for the leftovers.

As a street food like place, you can't ask for more with live performing in a casual and relax environment. I had spicy garlic shrimp rice, the portion was big and delicious. You can taste the freshness of the shrimp, it comes with a piece of pineapple which helps a lot to make the taste even fresher. Very tasty! Long q, but very fast service. To go pack is much easier and friendly. It also provides the sink to wash your hands after the meal. Very thoughtful! So far the best one on island, I'll try more to compare in the future!

Came here a few years ago (pre-google map reviews) and didn’t like it. Heard later that it’s really good. Came back and nope, still lame. We ordered spicy garlic shrimp and got no spicy. Now I have weird aftertaste in my mouth with a chemical vibe. I won’t be back.

Our tour guide stopped the bus here on a circle island tour. Boy am I glad he did! I had the spicy garlic shrimp plate and I honestly could’ve eaten another. It was simple but the shrimp was so flavorful and the rice was the perfect vessel to carry all of that sauce! The location itself, much like many great spots in Oahu, is unassuming and no frills but the long lines give it away. The lines move quickly and the prices are fair. The facilities have an outdoor portapotty and outdoor sinks to wash all the sticky garlicky goodness from your hands. There are several picnic tables for seating (covered and uncovered). You can also finish off your meal with a cool refreshing dole whip! An awesome experience!
