Fun-D Hotel & Hostel Chiang Rai

We paid around 540 THB per night for a deluxe double room with a private bathroom and it was pretty damn good! Spacious, incredibly clean, comfortable bed, fridge, kettle, good A/C, solid wifi most of the time, hot water in the shower, refillable soap and shampoo, water dispenser in the lobby, small snacks, bananas and instant coffee available at all times. The highlight of our stay was the gentleman at the reception, Nut, he was one of the nicest people we’ve met in SE Asia. I agree that the place looks like a “ghost town”, we barely met any other guests but we had a great stay here. It’s about 15 minutes of walking from the bus station. Even though it’s located near an intersection, the traffic wasn’t too loud during the night.

Fun-D Hostel was genuinely my favorite accommodation in my entire trip. The rooms are very nice with relatively large beds and space. Shared bathrooms were cleaned often and were very spacious. The breakfast consisted of toast, eggs and various fruits which was very nice but what made the hostel was the service. There is a very nice employee called Ploy who is fluent in English and Thai and she helped us book further accommodation by talking in Thai. It's a little walk to the night markets (15 minutes) but manageable. I would definitely stay again.

The Fun D hostel was a great place for a large group! We had 20 people and thought the dorm rooms were excellent with a large and clean space with personal curtains, reading lights and lockers. Shared bathroom facilities were also large and clean.|The private rooms were spacious and comfortable. |The best part about the Fun D hostel was the lady at the front desk, Ploy and her family. They were all kind, friendly and extremely helpful.|Location only 10mins walk to the night markets and bus station. And a free breakfast was great too!

We arrived at 10pm thinking we were about to disturb a bunch of people trying to get to sleep or at least settled for the night in our 8 bed dorm. Nope, we are the only people there, and in our stay we didnt see one other traveller or person staying here. ||So it's a little out the way of the centre but it's a really nice hostel, very clean, good beds, big lockers, reasonable prices. There are special meal offers for people staying in the hostel and the staff are friendly and seem to try quite hard to make it a fun and enjoyable place to stay. Even the wifi works pretty well for a hostel! I'd definitely recommend this place as long as you're not hoping to meet a many new people.

A really solid hostel. Super clean and with a common room. Feels very secure due to keycard locks. Each bed has curtains a light and outlet. The curtains are really nice and give a feeling of privacy even in 8 person dorm rooms. Its reasonably well located, but a little bit further from the city center than I prefer. It was also really empty when I was there, so the atmosphere was a bit lacking.

We loved our stay. Everyone was very attentive and friendly. Our kids were in heaven to have a playroom with some toys, games, TV, tent, keyboard, etc. Then over the moon to have Disney channel turned on for them in English. We've been traveling for 16 months. We walked to the market. And we had Heaven Burger delivered more than once, yum. We stayed in a dorm room to ourselves as there are 6 of us and the room was clean, AC worked great, beds were good and shared bathroom was clean.

Amazing staff. We told the owner we wanted to order a taxi for the next morning to visit temples before catching our flight. Later we heard a knock on our door and it was her and another staff member with a piece of paper. We then proceeded to sit down and plan out our experience in a manner that saved us a tremendous amount of time and money! She even gave us free bycicles for our little journey. Very clean rooms and an outstanding breakfast included. Stay here!

Air conditioning and wi-fi in all rooms. Thank God! The rooms are clean as well as the showers. Shampoo and liquid soap are provided. Had a very comfortable stay. The location is near city center, walking distance to key places. Will come back again. Definitely recommend to all.
