I like trying out local festivals and celebrations and I was delighted to see there was a Mardi Gras celebration at Fun Spot. They had a menu of yummy sounding Louisiana style food, decorations, kids parade, music and an escape room for the Nawlins excitement.
I started getting a feeling of being had as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. Their entry sign directs guests away from the parking lot near the entrance of the park as that is the employees only parking lot. I mean, why would a place want easy access for its guests? "No, no, no! You people that keep showing up each day to bother us at work need to go park on the very, very back. Where is that you ask? Well, when you think you've gone too far, keep going. Once you drive past the end of the pavement, you can no longer see the attractions, and you've reached the grass, THAT'S where we want you people to park." Hope everyone has on their good walking shoes! Later found out there is another entrance, so perhaps the sign makers could instead put up a sign that says "Main Entrance This Way".
I made everyone wear purple shirts in support of Mardi Gras colors, because after all, this was supposed to be a Mardi Gras themed festivity. Guess what guys - we were the most Mardi Gras themed attraction there. -_- I had to search out the party decorations, as they were not obvious upon arrival, and did find some colored flags strung through the air. Yayyy..... The "Fat Tuesday Funnel Cake" had zero to do with Mardi Gras - zip, zero, nada. I was probably the only one there that knew they had called their standard funnel cake something different online. The little taped up signs in the food spot windows, which again, I had to search for, were leaving much to be desired.
Listen, I did not have high expectations when I went because I know it's a tourist spot. But COME ON GUYS! Even those low expectations didn't even come close to being met.
