Shikoku Island Is Hiding Some of Japan's Best Hot Springs
"This centrally located spa in Ehime Prefecture features multiple onsens, a Zen garden, and a sauna. Traditional Japanese rooms with futon beds and tatami mats are available, as well as Western-style rooms. The onsen is conveniently located near the Dogo-Onsen Train Station." - Travel + Leisure Editors
The location is very convenient and close to sightseeing spots. Staff are polite and helpful. Room is clean and comfortable. Also, their breakfast is fantastic. I would certainly choose this hotel again for my future visit to Dogo.

Had an excellent stay here, and appreciate how the hotel is foreigner friendly. Japanese breakfast and dinner were delightful, a great selection of local food and fruit. Thoroughly enjoyed the onsen and the traditional Japanese room. Very close to Dogo onsen and the station
Would recommend staying here!

Definitely come back. Wonderful ryokan. The service was really lovely and personal. The room was just perfect with our own onsen (hot spring) in our own room whenever we wanted.
It was right in front of a train station, so it’s a very convenient spot.

Dogo Onsen Funaya is the historic landmark at Dogo Onsen area. I was very excited to stay but it looks that my expectation was too high. Japanese style room was very ordinary Japanese Ryokan room. Nothing special. Door was not autolocked. Meals were not as good as those of other hotels in Dogo Onsen area. Services were also not as good as those of other hotels there. I was a bit disappointed but at least I could stay at the most famous hote in the area.

Location is a short walk from Dogo onsen station. The experience was amazing, rooms were huge and I was surprised to have a staff member show us around the room and explain the amenities available. The amount of hospitality is above and beyond any we've experienced at other places and ryokans. They also have a very beautiful outdoor garden, onsen and geta (traditional Japanese wooden shoes) and yukata to wear around the premises.
