Fundació Miró Mallorca

The museum presents a modest selection of Miró’s works across different media, alongside contemporary pieces influenced by him. Visiting during the island’s off-peak season meant fewer visitors, and Son Boter (Miró’s house) was closed. The highlight is unquestionably Miró’s studio, preserved almost exactly as it was in the 1980s. Overall, the exhibitions are average, but the operations team would benefit from better training. During my visit, the staff member in Miró’s studio took a loud phone call lasting over half an hour and did not activate the projection room, which felt disrespectful to this core site of Miró’s creative life. The souvenir selection is also limited, likely due to copyright restrictions held by the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, resulting in few compelling reproductions.

The building, designed by Josep Lluís Sert in 1976, feels calm and full of light, a perfect reflection of Miró’s Mediterranean spirit, also the materials and circulation make the art feel so alive By the way staff at the ticket office was so disrespectful and I just laughed it off

Beautiful experience! You can really feel the essence of Miró’s art by looking at his drawings on the walls and visiting his studio, which has been preserved just as he left it. We went on a rainy day and it was still wonderful to walk through the different houses and enjoy the surrounding landscape. Tip: If you’re carrying a backpack, bring some cash — you’ll need coins to use the lockers at the entrance.

A chance to visit the Mallorca studio of one of the 20th century's most prestigious artists. If you are an admirer of Joan Miro a visit is essential (although when I visited his older studio was closed for construction work)

Wow! Just wow! Imagine painting (or writing, sculpting, cooking..) in this magical place removed from time and the hustle and bustle of Mallorca’s touristy spots. The place is absolutely magical, the collection is quite impressive and all the people who work here have been incredibly nice. Word of advice: as quite a few museums in Mallorca this requires you to put your bags in a locker that only locks if you put a 1 euro coin in, so if you are an only card person like me, make sure you have at least a coin always in your pocket (it’s a deposit, you get it back!)

A nice small museum with the work of Míro and some other artists. I enjoyed watching his studio. It was designed by a friend of his and on itself a piece of art. It feels like he still is there, everything is in its place. What I don't like is that you need to show you ticket every time you enter a building. The tip building are not accessible for people who can't walk stairs, only the main building has an elevator.

For me, not worth the €10 entry fee. Yes, I agree it is interesting to visit Miró’s studio, to imagine him being there and creating. However, it does feel what you can access is pretty limited. In the main studio you can only walk around a small section (any painted items you see are replicas), the upper studio only 4 rooms can be viewed from the main entrance hall behind ropes and the printing studio was not accessible at all. The main exhibition halls are interesting though, and you can see plenty of originals, pieces used for inspiration and development as well as work by other artists. I’d definitely say there is room for improvement.

We spent a couple of hours here. It's possible to see everything in that time. It was good to see how the workshops were set up, although generally there isn't loads to see in the exhibition rooms in the main museum. The garden is beautiful and includes sculptures by Joan Miró. We also really enjoyed food from the café, which was reasonably priced.

Interesting to see where Joan Miró lived and worked. The Fundació Miro Mallorca's collection is comprised of thousands of works by Joan Miró. Interesting to see paintings on canvas, sculptures, drawings, notes and sketchbooks. The weavings were an unexpected surprise. It was amazing to see the wealth of techniques, materials and procedures that Miró used in his creative process. Unfortunately, much of the gallery and the studios were closed due to renovations. Nice bookstore though. Able to pick up an illustrated book and some beautiful prints for a family member. The walk in the garden was also pleasant to see more sculptures. The museum is free on Saturdays from 3-6 and on the first Sunday of the month from 10-3. Admission is 9 Euros for adults and 5.5 Euros for seniors. We walked from the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus line. Nice museum in Palma.

The trip to the museum was part of a group tour. They opened the museum just for us but unfortunately, we were running so far behind we really didn't get a chance to enjoy all the museum had to offer. The docents were well versed and passionate about sharing stories of Miro's life and process. The last stop of the tour was a lovely cafe where we had snack cakes, the traditional Mallorcan pizza which is all veggies and no cheese. They also served a selection of fruit juices and lemonade. A nice visit that was way too short. If you are familiar with Miró, it's worth the trip. If not, it's interesting to get to know his work.

Miro is one of my favorite painters. This was a nice treat. We drove from Deia, which was a decent way to go. Admission is very reasonable. The gift shop has some fun options. The collection is not large but some excellent pieces. You can also see his studio. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.
