Pros: The bartenders were nice. The decorations were cool. The performers were amazing. Cons: The bouncers were incredibly rude to my friend (despite us literally saying it was her birthday?) The bouncer cut her off mid-showing the ticket taker her ID (which was who we had all shown our IDs to) and said he needed to see it. They told us we were holding up the line not once, but TWICE (first time there was 3 people behind us, second there was one.) Ticket taker literally ignored my friend to play video games? He rudely pointed her away to a bouncer to take her ticket (once again this was the birthday girl, and once again the ticket taker was who had checked all of our IDs.) Worst of all, they shut the show down when there was literally ONE SONG LEFT. They literally could not be bothered to wait 3 minutes when it was midnight and their website claims they have a 2am cutoff. I genuinely think that they may have been pissed that their building was full of trans people (since the headliner was trans.) Also, the stage was tiny and the performers had to walk through the crowd to get from the "backstage" to the stage, which isnt safe. Quite literally the only thing that saved that night was how amazing the performers were and they had nothing to do with the venue. If you're looking for drinks or a show, go somewhere else. This place is not worth your time or money.

Came here on tour with my band and we had a great time in Seattle, everyone at the bar was pretty cool, especially our front of house engineer Jacob, we only wish there was a little more local promotion from the venue

Didn't bring my ID to the all ages show. All ages bar is closed, water is in the 21+ area only. Re entry requires a 21+ stamp from the bar. So my thirsty ass is relying on occasionally convincing someone to get me a 2 oz come of water from the bar. Cool space that often hosts a lot of niche bands I love. Staff and policies leave something to be desired.

First time at The Funhouse, and I had a great time. Sweater For An Astronaut drove from Eugene to play here, and I was there to see them. It's worth the long drive. Excellent options at the Bar with tasty drinks like the Strawberry Lemonade Vodka w/7-Up. There is an Iron Maiden and a Rush Pinball Machine. This is the place to see a band up close and personal. I liked the Viking Skull Mural. The staff are friendly and clearly enjoy their jobs. Coincidentally, the music played between bands was a collection of my favorite artists. Violent Femmes, Germs, and many more were the perfect playlist.

I now avoid going to shows here, despite them booking some really good bands. I've met their talent buyer who is one of the sweetest and coolest people on the planet. I'm an artist myself and I genuinely love venues that give new up and coming artists a chance to perform live. I remember what it's like starting out and that's why it's important to me that I go to local concerts and listen to new artists and support them while they hone their craft. Venues that offer this opportunity are core to what makes this city great. That's why it hurts me so much to leave this review. To start off with, the front door staff treated me very judgementally over a minor miscommunication, which provoked me to leave the event early. Like I said earlier I am a local artist, however I was obviously not performing that night and was only there to support my friend. When dealing with rude or egotistical people I simply don't tolerate disrespect, and I politely decided to leave. I was planning on leaving this situation in the past without writing a review or anything. I'm not someone who generally leaves negative reviews, and you can check my account to confirm this. Furthermore, like I wrote above, I'm passionate about the local arts community and I hate to write a bad review for a business like this. But what the staff attempted to do to me after I left needs to be brought to attention. Days after the above incident I found out that the door staff had proceeded to gossip about me to the artist who was performing that night. This is slander, and was profoundly inappropriate on their part. It presented a clear inconvenience to me that could have been a major setback if I was a less established artist. This is extremely dirty behaviour and there is no excuse for it. They were clearly bruised that I didn't accept their bullying behaviour and that I decided to leave with my self respect intact. They therefore proceeded to lie about me to a professional acquaintance. That crossed a clear common sense red line that staff at any other venue would know better than to cross. It is for this reason I decided to go ahead and leave a review, as interacting with people like this can present a risk to one's personal or professional reputation. If you ask around or look at other reviews, you will find that I'm not alone in having terrible experiences with the staff. They have issues that go far beyond the typical stressed out Seattle freeze behaviour. They need to learn how to regulate their emotions and not abuse their power.

We always love going to the Funhouse. Great music, great bartenders, and door staff. Very accommodating with my ADA needs. The bathroom walls are always fun to read too.

Google
The staff can be rude, the whole place is dingy, and the sound is always terrible. But the crowd usually has a ton of energy and, if you don't mind those other things, it can make for a fun show.

Google
*TINY* venue. We came up from Atlanta to see Fallstar and we were not disappointed! The bartender was legit the nicest person. She made really great drinks. Y'all need to TIP HER WELL. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The bathrooms were the only reason I removed a star. Eek. You can only drink behind the fence. That kind of sucks because then you can't see the bands. I don't mind keeping drinks in a designated location, but make it so we can still see!

Yelp
easy parking...cheap drinks(for Seattle)...good bands for a small club...cheap covers...sound bleed is my one big complaint...seen some legendary punk acts here

Yelp
Horrible establishment. One of the bouncers rolled his eyes every time he had to check someone's ID and had a shitty attitude. Not enough spaces to sit and the food smelled like burnt toast.

Yelp
my band played here on tour and this is the worst venue any of us have ever had the misfortune of playing. one band from our three band bill dropped out and the venue tried to move our set up by 2 hours last minute. the managers argued with us about how they needed to make overhead and didn't care if we had a crowd coming at our original time. one of the managers was making fun of us saying we would only bring 2 people (we brought enough to make them money and get paid at the end of the night). all the staff was rude to us and unprofessional. we ended up moving our set up by only an hour and they cut us off after 30 minutes, immediately turned the house lights on and kicked everyone out.

Yelp
Thoughts on the funhouse: The drink is better than the band Everyone is so sad here Gotta applaud them for getting up on stage. Here's to hoping one day they'll become musicians. How am I going to get through 3 hours without my jacket touching ANYTHING HERE She looks like Anne wilson ...'s washed up cousin This music makes me miss my mom. And music. Saddest thought of the night.... This cocktail I'm drinking? Someone invented it, and is proud of it. Try and find someone without greasy hair. Just try it. I dare you. We are called the funhouse. Therefore, you are having fun. Ignore that band on the stage. Ignore that bland wall of sound. You are having fun. When I count back from ten, you will awaken and remember nothing of this show.

Yelp
The staff here are incredibly rude, dismissive, and unaccommodating. I thought maybe my experience was a weird experience, but looking at these reviews it appears that this is generally a garbage venue. Not only are they crappy people to interact with, they also seem to have no communication skills when it comes to making arrangements with performers. If you're an artist looking to book a show, do it literally anywhere else. It would be a better experience to do a show in the middle of the nearby freeway than at Funhouse.

Yelp
One of my bands played here a while ago. Actually liked the staff, they were all really cool to me as we chatted about UFC and fighting during load in and set up. Sound guy was accommodating and friendly. We packed most the venue that night, so it was very enjoyable and intimate experience. However, the biggest and only issue was unfair payment. Part of it was on us for not negotiating terms beforehand, but for bringing in a crowd that nearly packed the place, None of the bands got paid more than the gas money to get there. In conclusion, love the atmosphere and intimacy of this venue, but pay can get really shady if not talked about with them.

Yelp
We played here on a Sunday night. There were supposed to be 5 bands performing. The first band didn't show, and there were maybe 5 people attending? 3 of which were for our band? Claimed to be a guaranteed money maker. They take 15% from the headliner's merch sales. Which they sold 1 thing to a guy from one of the other bands? Lousy. The venue did not promote. We did not make money. They had no ac. The place was stifling. The funhouse shared their restrooms with el corazon which had a show going on at the same time and you could hear during our set? Pretty rude. I get the strict ID rule to eliminate underage people however when a member of our band's 70 something year old father isn't allowed in I think someone is taking their job way to serious. Shitty venue. We are a touring band and I was seriously disappointed with this place.

Yelp
My band played here once (paid in PBR-only drink tickets). I haven't been back since. I love me a filthy DIY punk venue and I've attended plenty of shows in squat houses, but I just generally got a bad vibe from this place. It's tiny, dirty, the sound is awful and they don't do almost any promotion. I guess there's an under-21 section for all those perky teen mullets in the audience, but that might be the only upside.

Yelp
" if you ever wanna get fucked up on just two drinks the bartenders at El Corazon Funhouse always hook you up with some good drugs on the low you don't even know. Just wish they gave out weed instead of roofies "

Katherine M.

Yelp
Went to see my friends play the other night. They were the second opener, and the headliners had canceled for the night. So my friends were going to be the only other people playing that night. The staff had originally told them they'd be playing 45 minutes because of this, then cut them to 15 minutes right before they went on (half the time of their original set). After playing 2 songs (approx 10 min) they politely asked if they could've play one more and the staff said they were done. Super rude and just didn't make sense. These guys came out, brought their gear, played well and you can't even let them play 3 songs. Gtfo. The staff would be going home early regardless, I know it's not an ideal situation for anyone but it was a shitty way of handling it.

Yelp
Worst venue I've ever been to. Our band played with a touring band and they barely paid them (didn't pay any of the other bands). The staff was late to do load in and we all stood in the rain waiting. Every staff member was extremely rude and it was a terrible experience. The bands we were with were great but the staff was horrible. We will not be coming back. Do not play a gig here. There are plenty of other venues in Seattle. Literally any other venue would have been better.

Yelp
I love a good dive bar, but this place sucks. Shitty service when there were six people in bar. Whiskey in frat cups, open garbage cans and bus your own bottle asshole attitude. I was so hopeful. But so let down.

Laney H.

Yelp
The staff here are some of the worst staff I've ever encountered. Nobody was allowed to ask questions without getting a nasty response. Honestly shocked at how rude everyone was. This is the absolute worst venue I've ever been to. I don't recommend it. I watched the bands playing get treated like crap as well. As a business owner, I'd be embarrassed to employ people like this.

Yelp
Good place to see a quick 3 shows, and if the el Corazon is open make it 6. Normally better with 21 under crowds. Closes by midnight. Drinks are pricey and the head is disgusting bring your go girl

Michael A.

Yelp
I paid $15 to mostly hear the band I was interested in hearing and also, because of open doors and massive volume, I heard the band at El Corazon over anything the band was playing at the "funhouse." Not fun. Got called an asshole by the woman at the bar for complaining. Dismissive and indifferent staff except for the sound guy who was appropriately apologetic. Why book here? Why play here? Work with people who value folks who venture out and appreciate live music and customer service. This place has none of that.

Yelp
I was a regular at the old Funhouse.. their awesome bartender Mickey passed away shortly after I moved. Had so much fun there, that I had to check out the new place with my wife when we visited. This place sucks. Gone are all the cool, and relaxed old school folks from the punk and metal days. All replaced by snivelling self-important tools n' twats who should have been spanked as children. I drank beer, so I can't speak on the drinks, but the bartender seemed irritated that people wanted something from him. At least he was quick about it. I just wanted a beer, not a buddy anyway. The guys at the door were incel douchebags, but not any more so than the male patrons. Lots of unwarranted attitude here. We left after only one beer because the band was shit, and the joint reeked of mustache wax. The Funhouse is dead. Change the name, it's disrespectful to sully the good name of what used to be the best place around. One star only because I had to in order to post.

Hunter J.

Yelp
the girl working here was so rude and degrading!! i've never met a bartender with such an attitude... and it's a dump and looks gross there's no way it's sanitary
