This place doesn’t have the best reviews and I’m not sure why. It’s a bargain stay in Interlaken that was very pleasant! The grounds are gorgeous. The hotel itself is old and could use updating, but I thought it was beautiful and that’s part of its charm. Felt like stepping back into time. We had a private room with private bathroom and balcony and it was great. Warm room with super hot shower water. The view was amazing!!! We stayed in room 222. Staff was really friendly. Check in and check out was so easy. Cute cat and dog that live there too. For the price it was perfect and we’d absolutely return.

I booked this hostel because it was the cheapest in Interlaken. I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was inside. The lobby looked amazing. Being a hostel, the rooms of course weren't amazing. We had a ten bed room and the shower was a bit wonky, but then again it was fine. You get what you're paying for

Funny Farm is the cheapest dorm option in Interlaken.||The dorm room had a gorgeous view of the Alps from the room. Easy to walk from hostel to anywhere in town. Downstairs bar/restaurant area is a nice place to sit. I didn't get any food, so can't comment on that. Seemed acceptably clean.||The dorm room needs more electric plugs. Fine for one night, maybe two but I wouldn't stay here long term. This is a hotel, not a hostel, so no hostel type amenities. But also not a fancy place.||I would probably stay here again if I needed to go through Interlaken.

You know that statement that says cheap is expensive,it is this hostel😂 The hostel is in a beautiful location with stunning Mountain Views even with a cute balcony and it’s conveniently close to town. But unfortunately, the experience was far from restful or comfortable. Let’s start with the location: while the views are undeniably beautiful, the hostel is also right next to a busy road. I couldn’t sleep at all because of the traffic noise. 🥹 The rooms were extremely hot, with no ventilation or air conditioning, so we had to sleep with the windows wide open—only to be met with more noise. A lose-lose situation. Now… the showers. I don’t even know where to begin. It was the most ancient setup I’ve ever seen—one of those sink-and-shower combos with a single tap that tries (and fails) to do it all. I honestly had to call someone to help me figure out how to turn it on. It was both funny and shocking. 😂then when standing in the bathtub the roof is on your head,am not even that tall,if you are taller than 5’10ft you won’t fit standing in the bathtub to shower😂 The entire building smells like an old, unventilated house. The beds are squeaky and unstable—every small movement feels like a full-blown announcement to the rest of the room. And it’s clear that the place is long overdue for a serious renovation. What really disappointed me most though was the welcome—or rather, the lack of one. The lady at the reception barely looked up when I arrived, responding with an attitude that felt cold and uninviting. It costs nothing to smile or be warm. A kind welcome makes a big difference, especially when you’re far from home.I understand beds can fail, renovations, organizing but having a welcoming demeanor costs nothing! In short, this place could be decent with its amazing location and scenic surroundings, but it’s crying out for proper care, updates, and better hospitality. Until then, prepare for a noisy, sweaty, squeaky sleep. However of all cities I visited in Switzerland,Interlaken was my favorite😊a city you should visit too but choose a better place to sleep.

These were good accommodations for the price that we paid. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, they recommended stopping at the bakery across the street for breakfast and the Coop grocery stores for pre-made meals both of which ended up having delicious, decently priced food options. Make sure you ask for the guest pass which gives you free access to the local bus lines. The Hotel Sonne bus stop is only a couple minutes walk from Funny Farm and only a few minutes ride from Interlaken Ost and West. I used Google Maps as a guide to navigate the bus lines and times for our destinations. We stayed in a shared room with a bathroom. It was simple but clean, the beds didn’t have curtains and there were no lockers for our luggage but both my sister and I felt safe. The hot shower was also incredible! They had lots of sitting areas both inside and outside that were great for hanging out as well as a pool table, foosball table, a bar, and a table with a microwave, hot water, bowls, and utensils where we prepared store bought food. We tried to do laundry but found out that the washing machine was about a third the normal size and the dryer was broken, so I would recommend doing laundry elsewhere.

Expensive and lacks the basics. The hot water runs out, the towels are 5 CHF, the wifi is very slow, and common area amenities are lacking (there is a microwave and a kettle and that’s about it). This place is good if you need the bare minimum for lower prices, but spare yourself and look at other hostels if you can. I wouldn’t come back.

For pricey Switzerland stay, this location was not too shabby. It's a hotel/hostel. My husband and I got lucky to get our own room with a private bathroom, for a decent price. The location was not bad, as it was close to some of the places we wanted to stay and not far from public transportation. The hotel itself has old chalet feel to it. It has a bar, lounge and huge space to chill. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to save some money and still enjoy what Interlaken has to offer!

The room was very good and there was a toilet attached to the room which was very clean. Our room was very big. There was a telephone and a television. There was a mobile charging facility and there were 3 lights.

Yelp
Originally, we wanted to stay at Balmers hostel because we needed a place to crash while in Interlaken. Unfortunately, we didn't book enough in advance and was stuck between the Funny Farm or The Barn. With such limited information online from websites such as hostelworld, we decided to go wth the Funny Farm. Let me say that this is by far the worst hostel I've stayed at in terms of cleanliness and service. The entire building is super old and dusty. The furniture was probably donated or grabbed off of Craigslist's free section and the service isn't the best. Staff seemed to be more interested in doing the minimum for us. Our room was supposed to be a mixed gender six bed hostel, but when we walked in it was an eight bed. When asked about this, it was stated that the other beds were reserved and would not be rented out? Seemed sketchy to me. Additionally, there are no lockers for your personals, no ladders for the bunk beds, the rooms were super dusty, the bathroom was similar to that of a cruise ship's bathroom meaning it was extremely dank and small. For those of us who are over 5'10 (I'm 6'), you'll need to crouch, so that you can enjoy the beautiful mold and black residue left on the wall of the shower. For the price of 30 francs, I expected more. However with all things considered, it was in a convenient location and easily accessible from the bus stop. It seems like a lot of Chinese and South Korean tourists come to Interlaken, so you'll see these people around the hostel. Most likely, in the same situation as us meaning this hostel was not their first choice. There was also a fraternity or college kids who rented out a good majority of the rooms, so lots of noise. On top of this, stones/rocks seem to be the item of choice to decorate and hold doors here (see pics). Nonetheless, I visited The Barn located in the back, also owned by the same people. I spoke to the guy who owns the place and actually checked The Barn out myself. Let me say this, The Barn is a hundred times worse than The Funny Farm, which is the only reason I am giving The Funny Farm two stars rather than the lowest score possible. Tl;dr The Funny Farm is not the first, second, or third pick for most. Will you survive? Yes.

Yelp
The Funny Farm is EFFING WEIRD. Which is a good thing, IMO. Located in gorgeous Interlaken, Switzerland, the Funny Farm is a hostel designed for youthful backpackers who don't mind the loss of much personal space and who likely don't spend a lot of time in beds or hanging around the hostel when they are backpacking. Onsite, the Funny Farm offers you all the amenities for enjoying the great outdoors of Switzerland - you can sign up for bouldering, canyoning, cliff diving, river rafting, etc. On the grounds, the Funny Farm has a large sunny pool area with a large diving board, a Space Camp with large outdoor seating, and there's always a couple of guys smoking weed, passing around a pipe, and selling the hash if that's up your alley, talking about how the man totally harshes my mellow, yo. If it helps at all, I got into a deep philosophical and HUGELY IMPORTANT conversation of which I can recall very little about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the philosophy of The Simpsons here with some hippies from Sweden. I feel this kind of thing happens a lot at The Funny Farm.

Yelp
Nice lobby. Awful staff. Has mini bar with rude bar tender and overpriced drinks. Has nice pool table and entertainment area on 1st floor. Pool is empty. Tennis court is rundown. Decent room size with nice porch. Beds are ok. Pillows are very uncomfortable, bring your own. Broken door knob to bathroom. Front door is lock at night. Broken tv. Hiking trail behind hotel. Find somewhere else if you can.

Yelp
I stayed here with a Florence for Fun trip for a weekend in Interlaken. Our room was very comfortable and had a gorgeous view of the town and mountains behind. The staff was very friendly and we spent many hours sitting and chatting with bartenders. Funny Farm also has a great location, it's only about a 10 minute walk to everything you'd want to visit (town center, surrounding restaurants etc). Definitely recommend if you need an easy place to stay in the area!

Yelp
Stayed here a few years ago. Place seemed not to go together inside. Staff were not friendly. In the middle of the night, a drunk German started banging on our door and screaming, running down the hallways. I felt very unsafe and in general found it to be an uncomfortable place. It's also not in a central location.
