The hotel is located in a small village, so it's a nice option if you want to experience rural life on Sardinia, especially when there are some festivals going on in the area. The building itself used to be a monastery, and the owners did a nice job when converting it to the hotel, as it preserved the most charateristic features yet it has all the amenities necessary (a lift, wifi, AC and a pool). It also offers dining option in the garden, which is great after a long hot day. There are occassional problems with water, solved quickly by very helpful staff ( which lends a hand in other matters as well - e.g. if you don't have the socket adapter necessary). The food served is very Italian - both breakfasts as well as dinners.

This hotel is a former monastery and the interior design is nicely adapted to referr to its history. Rooms are a bit small and it's clear that bathrooms were added much later. Staff was OK, but food for dinners and especially breakfast was very, very average. I had to laugh when I saw micro-bowls to be used for granola. Air-conditioning stops working at night and actually starts heating (a problem other guests experienced too). It happend 2 times also that there was no water, but problem got fixed rather quickly. Hotel is situated in a small village, so if you visit at a time of local festival, you can experience how local people celebrate. There is a pool and wifi works well.

Our visit was as part of a cycling group riding from Alghero to Pula. The hotel is a modern building set around a central courtyard, and it has quite an ecclesiastical feel with a lot of religious memorabilia adorning the walls. It reminded us of hotels we have stayed at in rural Spain, and of course Sardinia does have a substantial Spanish historical imprint. Reception was helpful and welcoming. Some of our group had no hot water for a post ride shower after arrival, and this struck a chord with previous reviews I had read. All 17 of our group had no hot water for a shower the following morning, and as this is clearly not a once off we found this unacceptable. A pity, as otherwise a reasonable hotel.

Everything is about people. The place is beautiful, nice old building, very convenient. Nevertheless, the staff seems to be a bit indifferent. There was a karaoke evening during our stay and we couldn’t sleep till 2.30 but we tried to be tolerant, it was a holiday time. However, we used Vouchers for our stay and a part of that should have been a welcome drink and a fruit basket in every room- nothing like that. Dinner quite ok but breakfast rather poor- just one croissant per person, two biscottate and some jam. They could do more to make their clients happy.

This was advertised as a four star hotel, several of us were staying overnight on a cycling holiday. The rooms were good but the place has some drawbacks which make it less attractive if you have a choice. Mainly the stone floored corridors which seemed to amplify any noise enormously - so if someone is coming back late at night or has to leave early in the morning, watch out. As indicated by other reviewers staff were not much in evidence, but this didn't cause any particular issues. The breakfast was probably the worst we had over the 8 nights in Sardinia, pretty basic continental style with nothing special about it.

My wife and I stayed for just one night during our tour of Sardinia. It had much character and we stayed in a clean, comfortable room with very good facilities. We enjoyed an excellent dinner at a reasonable price(a litre of very tasty red wine was just 6 euros), with good friendly service. Villanovaforu is a very small, but pleasant place with little to do and see - ideal for a night or two's visit.

We stayed two nights as part of a cycling holiday. Very nice building, pleasant room, then it all goes down hill. Day 1 we arrived having travelled all day, got in the shower - no hot water - went to reception, got some excuse that the solar panel pump wasn't on - anyway an hour later hot water. Day 2 cycled all day returning at 3 pm, very hot and sweaty, jumped in the shower - guess what, no hot water. went to reception again, and got another excuse that someone must have accidently switched the pump off (more like that as hotel was virtually empty, this was switched off to save money!) Staff haven't grasped the concept of customer service, virtually everytime we tried to speak to someone, order a drink, complained about no hot water, got a different member of staff (or more like family as sometimes they were children/teenagers just back from school - "oh I need to speak to my Uncle"!) always felt as if we were an imposition. Lastly, if you fancy a drink from the bar, do yourself a favour and walk a few hundred metres towards the Square, to the Bar Central - very friendly atmosphere and the drinks are between 1/2 and 2/3's cheaper than the hotel charge, and you get good service!

Newish hotel situated a few miles from Su Nuraxi. The rooms are set around a courtyard and are reasonably furnished. The hotel has a restaurant, which is just as well as Villanovaforru is a very small place with very limited facilities. The restaurant however only did full three course meals, with no a la carte menu (although the food was very nice). The staff were very helpful, but only the receptionist spoke any English at all.|
