Furnirussi Tenuta (Serrano, Puglia) 6 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We’ve got a soft spot for hotels set on working farms — for the character and self-sufficiency, sure, but also for the unbeatable access to local produce. Furnirussi Tenuta, a small resort in Puglia, well into Italy’s heel, fits this model perfectly; a short spell inland from the Adriatic-Ionian convergence, these 20 hectares constitute Europe’s largest fig farm. Turns out 4,500 fig trees make for excellent company." - Tablet Hotels

Wonderful hotel with one of the best pools we have ever seen - surrounded by trees, it is like a natural oasis complete with birds and dragonflies. The pool epitomises the essence of this very special boutique hotel and its ability to coexist with nature rather than fight against it - so don't come here if you want manicured lawns and paths. This is a place to celebrate nature whilst keeping standards incredibly high and luxurious, a difficult balance to achieve but they have quietly nailed it. The rooms are beautiful with very comfortable beds, and a fabulous private terrace for early morning coffee. The staff are simply the best - friendly, polite, helpful, discreet yet available, you really couldn't ask for more. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, eaten on the shady terrace by the pool. Lunch and dinner also incredible, some of the best food we have eaten. Hotel is about 30 mins from Lecce, 50 mins from Gallipoli and 15 mins from Otranto - all definitely worth visiting. Four days here wasn't long enough, it's an absolute gem and we throughly enjoyed our stay.

This has to be one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. ||It is a beautiful hotel surrounded by fig trees, with an amazing swimming pool, great restaurant and stunning rooms that are really comfortable.||But the best thing about this hotel are the people. The team were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. It is a family run hotel and they really take pride in the service they offer. We would like to thank the Director Francesco who was so welcoming and all the restaurant, bar and reception staff for making our six night stay so lovely. And a special thanks to Isabella was always smiling - a lovely welcome at breakfast.||And on that note the breakfast was great with fresh local produce and a great selection.||Finally, if you stay here do take advantage of the cooking classes the run. This was very good.||An amazing hotel with an amazing team - deserved more than 5 Stars

We stayed here as a party of 3 adults, for a few days in early June, occupying 2 rooms.|At first glance the rooms look smart and roomy. However, first impressions can be deceptive. The rooms need renovating and/or upgrading. There are numerous marks and scuffs on the concrete floors and one of the bathrooms walk-in showers was not that powerful and we found the temperature difficult to maintain at a consistent temperature. The beds were ok, but the pillows were too hard and a request for soft pillows produced only slightly less hard pillows. The outdoor patio area is claustrophobic, with no views whatsoever and therefore unlikely to get much, if any, use. Frankly, a pointless addition.|What high end hotel doesn’t have a coffee machine in the room these days ??|Here there were sachets of Nescafé !, and no milk ! I eventually figured out to go to the cafe near the pool which served a good coffee before breakfast formally started at 7.30.||The breakfast selection was poor, consisting of dry and unappetising pastries, uninteresting cold cuts and cheese, limited fruit selection and rapidly cooling, and congealed, scrambled eggs in a stainless steel tray- not something you’d expect from an establishment trying to pitch itself at the high end. |If you wanted anything cooked to order that was going to cost you extra. Again, not a good look compared to other places we stayed in Puglia where it was all included. |The front desk, without exception, were staffed either by surly, uninterested staff, or staff who tried to help but who simply didn’t either have the English language skills or, simply, didn’t know the answer. There was a small shop in the lobby which sold vastly overpriced clothes and accessories. Avoid !||Online shots of the pool look impressive and so it is at first glance in person too. However, there is a major flaw with the way the area has been landscaped. There are lots of trees in the area next to the pool, which have obviously grown over the years the complex has been open. These trees now overhang the pool in many areas and are constantly dropping foliage into the pool. It is a great shame as the pool is otherwise attractive. I understand the benefit of trees for those who want to sit in the shade but they should not be overhanging the pool itself as it is almost impossible to keep the pool free of leaves, etc. as it currently stands. ||The restaurant has adequate food. We would not have said it was great, and we certainly didn’t need the slightly obsequious and fawning approach from the serving staff who undoubtedly meant well but seemed to have been told that all guests needed to be treated as if they were visiting royalty. The menu rapidly became boring albeit I must admit we were completely taken aback at one dish of cooked sea bass which was served in a deliberately cold sauce. We even queried this with the server who told us it was indeed the intention to serve cooked, but rapidly turning cold, fish with a cold sauce !||We had decided to take up the offer of the hotel to arrange an olive oil and cheese tasting session at another Masseria (Cinq Sant) a short drive away. The hotel charged us Euro 70 pp., but imagine my surprise while at the tasting to find out that the Cinq Sant charge -if you apply directly- is only Euro 40 pp. !!|Additionally, the hotel wanted to charge Euro 100- for a one way taxi ride from the hotel to Lecce ! Best to just hire a car to avoid these rip-off charges and do not take up the hotel’s published offer for 3rd party services.||We had high hopes for this place, and it does have a lot of potential, but that potential remains a long way from being fulfilled as things currently stand.

Planning on spending 8 days in Puglia we decided to split our time with 5 days in the southern portion and 3 in the northern portion. We studied many hotels and airbnb locations and were super lucky to have selected Furnirussi Tenuta, close to Otranto.||This is simply a magical place. It is surrounded by 4,500 fig trees (largest fig plantation in Europe ... please ask for some figs during breakfast ... super delicious! ). The rooms are wonderful. Beautifully decorated. Super comfy beds and pillows. We stayed in a two bedroom suite that had a huge private terrace and a super large bathroom with a jacuzzi/tub. Excellent choice of toiletries. I am a bit particular about noise… but can tell you the room is very well designed as I heard no noises at all at night. We slept like babies!| |I am not going to try to describe the gorgeous pool but, believe me, it is worth spending some time in it.||As you probably have read, Puglia is quite long… so no matter where you stay you will be spending time on the car to visit the different beaches and towns. We found Furnirussi’s location to be ideal for our day trips in southern Puglia. ||This is a family run hotel and it certainly feels as if you are being hosted with all the kindness and warmth of a family. Every single person of the staff that we encountered was super nice and helpful. Isabella and the other lady (sorry I dont remember the name) in the restaurant during breakfast were really nice and helpful always with a big smile in their face. Maurizio was our waiter twice and made our meals very enjoyable. But the big price goes to Claudia who was incredibly nice and patient and helped us plan all our day trips giving us fantastic tips and arranging all our reservations. We also met Francesco and his mother (the owners)… super friendly … you can tell the quality of the place starts right there with them.||Quite simply, a real gem … we didn’t want to leave!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Furnirussi. We came to Furnirussi, after a last minute change of plans. We had originally chosen to stay in a lovely Air B & B in the Ostuni area, and unfortunately, on our first night while out for dinner, our unit was broken in to and robbed of many our our items. As a result we had to re-locate and find something else. Although we had many enjoyable experiences staying in Air B and B's in Italy, we were very shooken up and decided to stay in a secure hotel setting. By way of reference, we have also stayed at many boutique and luxury properties in the Tuscany area, including the Rosewood Castiglion, Monte Verde, Lupai, and Borgo SanPietra so we appreciate elegant and more boutique style accomadations as well as excellent dining. |Furnirussi was also a special place and although they have many rooms, it felt boutique in style and vibe. It was impeccably clean, nicely designed and styled, as well as reasonably priced. We stayed in the upper floor which had a very large, very private terrace with stunning views of the fig trees and country side. The bedding, towels, and details of the room were all of high quality. It is a short drive from the quaint sea side town Otranto. There are many amazing restarounts here and we enjoyed the cobblestone streets as well as an open air sunset viewing bar for pre dinner cocktails.  |Back to Funirussi. Because we had been robbed at our previous location, we had instructions from the local police who came, to report back to a local police station to give a report on items stolen etc. It was the middle of the night by this time, so on our arrival to Furnirussi, we asked at the front desk if they could direct us to a local police station once we got settled. When we explained what happened, the front desk team communicated with management and offered to take us to a police station, as well as translate for us. We were blown away by their kindness and sensitivity to our unnerving situation. A lovely girl... who spoke English, (i think her name was Sylvia) came with us and helped sort through all the paper work and translated for us which was such a blessing. It was a very confusing and stressful process as it was, and she made it so much easier. In total, I'm sure she was away from her desk for a few hours at least, and considering our unfortunate circumstance had nothing to do with them or their property, it was very kind and thoughtful for them to help us in this way. An excellent example of amazing customer service. They genuinely cared and we were so impressed with this act of kindness.|We also enjoyed amazing cuisine in the restaurant here. The pool area is serene and beautiful. |Thankyou Furnirussi, for everything, we will be back some day! We wish you and your team the very best.

This resort is off the beaten path you will appreciate the quietness! From the front desk staff to the restaurant wait staff, especially Mauricio, you will experience an authentic Italian hospitality in its purest form. A small playground a workout room is on the premises. I would stay here again!!

We just left with warm memories having spent time in this little sojourn far from the throngs hitting Puglia all of a sudden. Lovely charming and hospitable staff welcomed us. Breakfast was delightful and the chef went out of his way to accommodate a food allergy. The well appointed rooms were large and airy with beautiful furnishings.

Secluded with one the best swimming pools I have ever experienced. The water was a perfect temperature and the lounge chairs were situated perfectly for sun and shade. All staff were welcoming and especially the wait staff in the restaurant. Mauricio was our favorite!!
