The Best New Hotels in the World: 2024 Hot List

"With Bali’s traffic-choked Canggu district bursting at the seams, the smart crowd have set their sights on Pererenan, a sleepy village one beach to the west. Even though new villas have pitched up over recent years, they abut rice paddies and turmeric-hued temples—a flashback to the Canggu of three decades ago. At Pererenan’s heart sits the new Further, a “diffused hotel” spread out over two terra-cotta-toned buildings (with more on the way) along the village’s palm-hemmed main drag. Each is home to parts of Further’s ambitious collective of creative spaces. There’s a board shop and concept store by Australian label Thomas Surfboards; a boutique by Jakarta-based natural skin care brand Oaken Lab; and a breezy, tropical-Parisian bistro for classic apéro sundowners and dinners of pumpkin Pithiviers and steak tartare smothered in sambal. Upstairs, almost a dozen suites by Aussie design outfit Studio Wenden riff on traditional Balinese shapes and textures, with walls bedecked in burnt sienna plaster and breezy brickwork that filters the morning sun. Robust furnishings made from cast iron, earthy travertine, and timber balance out the sultry black-and-white photography, and a wraparound balcony doubles as an alfresco bathroom. This is go-slow territory, with palo-santo-scented mornings filled with leisurely lie-ins and picnic-basket breakfasts delivered to your door (an in-house restaurant will follow at a later stage), while jazzy tunes seep from the record players in every room. On an island riddled with copy-and-paste hotels, Further brings a fresh perspective. From $230. —Chris Schalkx" - CNT Editors

Amazing stay! I stayed at the main building. Very comfortable room with piped in music which made room feel rather cozy and white noise from 11pm onwards which helped to make sleep better. Buggy service also provided to several places nearby including beach, woods restaurant etc. Great staff who are always ready with a smile and to help. A special shout-out to Destiny who is so helpful from Day 1. Overall, highly recommend!

During my Bali trip I stayed in 2 different hotels and this one was absolutely the best. Everything perfect: super stylish, clean, very kind staff, good food and beautiful rooms. The rooftop pool is also great and relaxing. Moreover nearby the hotel there are few affiliated shops that I absolutely recommend. The location is a little bit far from the airport and some Bali activities, so it may take some time to get in different places. However is near the beach and some surfing sites. Absolutely recommended to everyone and if I’ll go back to Bali one day I’m definitely going to book here again.

An Unforgettable Stay – Truly a Hidden Gem! Our experience at this hotel was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The staff welcomed us so warmly and made us feel at home every single day. Their attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. The room was beautifully designed, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a true retreat. The breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented—exactly what we needed to start the day right. The pool area was pure bliss! A calming atmosphere, it became our favorite spot to relax and unwind. If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, beauty, and outstanding service, look no further. We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful hotel and aesthetically pleasing. The design is something I’ve never experienced before. A very unique and modern hotel. Great spot and they have a free day pass to Wrong Gym just down the road. The golf Buggy is very handy for families to get around if you don’t prefer the scooter and ride-share.

My wife and I traveled to Bali for the first time and had the pleasure of staying at The Further. Not only was the staff extremely kind and accommodating, but our room was remarkable and the location (close to the beach and plenty restaurants) is perfect! Mira and the staff treated us like family. We’ll definitely be back.

Was met with a warm welcome from the team of wonderful staff. They were super responsive to my inquiries both before and during the stay. Every part of the premise is a photo opp, an inspiration for art and creativity. Everything you need is provided in the room. Love the sound system in the room! The housekeeping team did a great job in keeping my room immaculate always. And the new pool was an awesome place to just laze around and watch the day go by. The only down was, I wish that more shops and spa will open up in the area soon! Other than that, I had 4 nights of perfectly splendid at the Further Hotel and I would gladly do the same all over again.

So let me start by saying this, i have stayed on several hotels in Bali and this isn’t our first trip either but i would say first impression matters the most. We stayed at Pool Suite so my review would be fully objective and hence i would list all the pros and cons of my stay below. Pros: - Nice location if your agenda is around Canggu - Good breakfast i have no complains on food - Good gym partnership with Wrong Gym fantastic gym and fully equipped with Technogym Cons: - This would be weird but this is one of the most unwelcoming hotel that i have stayed in Bali. I mean for the price and room i have paid i didn’t feel welcome at all. - The room is spacey yes but the mattress feels cheap and the air con doesn’t do it’s job at all. - Again, the service was really lacking as i almost got charged for drinking cocktails in which when they guided the room with us they said everything above the cabinet is ours to drink. - Excuse me, for the price i paid is there any concierge around that could offered me to bring my luggage? Hopefully there will be improvements as the location of the hotel is superb.

A Beautiful and Aesthetic Stay!|My friend and I spent two nights at the Further Gallery, and it was a truly seamless experience from start to finish. Check-in was effortless, and the rooms were absolutely stunning—just like the photos online, if not better!||Each morning, we were warmly greeted by the lovely Mira, who was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay. The communication from the Further Hotel team was excellent—they were quick to respond and provided thoughtful assistance whenever needed.||The facilities were top-notch, and the location couldn’t have been more convenient. I highly recommend staying here—it was a perfect blend of style, comfort, and great service!
