Fushifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives - Explore & Book

"Our first glimpse of Fushifaru is from the sky. It’s a tiny speck in a turquoise world. We circle it in mere seconds, then swoop down, skimming across the water as our seaplane skids to a halt. What a way to arrive. It’s the colours that hit you first. The blues of the ocean are blinding, and the water completely translucent, revealing coral and tropical fish in rainbow shades. A boardwalk leads to the island – a perfect curve of silky white sand, at the centre of which sits a clump of lush palm trees. Smiling staff donning bright Hawaiian shirts usher you in, then pass you freshly felled coconuts pierced with metal straws for sipping on their juices. Award-winning Fushifaru is a small island (we swam the perimeter in 30 minutes), owned by a Maldivian, so everything feels personal and authentic. You’re assigned your own butler on arrival, restaurant staff know you by name, and the island never appears crowded – we often had the entire east beach to ourselves. Some villas face the sunrise, others the sunset, and the plushest ones are on stilts above the water. You might snorkel in the morning, pausing for a swing in the hammock strung up in the underwater playground, then go for a massage in the afternoon, before trotting barefoot to the pool bar for sundowners. And if you get bored (you won’t), the watersports centre offers everything from dolphin cruises to reef dives. The island feels luxe and exclusive yet laid-back too. And it works for couples and families alike. You’ll wish you were shipwrecked here forever – it’s another world. Highs Rooms are very reasonable for a Maldivian resort of this calibre - make use of their excellent special offers and you'll get hugely reduced prices (far lower than those advertised) The journey alone is unforgettable: you arrive by seaplane and get amazing aerial views of the atolls and reef systems The resort is bijou and boutique, so it feels intimate and personal but not remotely stuffy – and kids are warmly welcomed All villas have outdoor or semi-open-air bathrooms which are completely private and feel very tropical The staff are exceptional – they get to know you by name and are fun and friendly Lows There’s no house reef, so you’ll need to get a boat to neighbouring islands to go diving, but Fushifaru's large lagoon has some good snorkelling spots (we saw a ray) and underwater playgrounds As with all resorts in the Maldives, extras - activities, food and drink, seaplane transfers – can be pricey The beach villas' enclosed open-air bathrooms are warm - consider a water villa if you prefer an indoor bathroom (with A/C and the option to slide open the door to the ocean)" - Lucy Richardson

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Our family had never visited the Maledives before. As you might expect our expectations were sky high. Even so they were exceeded. Let’s start with the arrival. One gets personally greeted by traditional music and then gets directed to the reception where one is situated in a climatized VIP residency. The check in process is smooth but be ready to put down a deposit of 500 usd. You will then be assigned your personal host which you can reach by messenger 24/7. The villas are absolutely great and modern as they were built in 2017. The room cleaning is done twice a day and your pool is also cleaned daily. A nice touch is that you will be served by the same person every day so that you can build a very personal connection. Food is great and different food is served every day which rotates after 7 days. All in all definitely to recommend also opt for the all inclusive package as prices will be steep otherwise.

Fushifaru Resort Review Our six-day stay at Fushifaru from November 17th-22nd was an unforgettable experience despite some rainy weather. From the moment we arrived, Dia and the staff made us feel welcome, creating a personal and warm atmosphere. We stayed in a Water Bungalow with a Jacuzzi, offering direct access to the sea for snorkeling. The room was spacious, meticulously cleaned, and equipped with modern amenities, including multi-national plugs, USB ports, and a well-stocked minibar. Housekeeping was exceptional, visiting 2-3 times daily. Food options were varied, including Maldivian, Indian, and themed nights. The all-inclusive package provided great value, with highlights such as teppanyaki at Raakani Grill and delicious drinks from the Fanihandhi Bar. Activities included snorkeling with sea turtles, a cooking class, a complementary massage, kayaking, and a Dhoni sunset sail. While rough seas caused some seasickness during snorkeling, spotting sea turtles was a highlight. Dia’s attentive rebooking of activities after weather cancellations ensured we made the most of our trip. The staff’s exceptional service made our stay memorable. Dia provided personalized care, checking on us even after our return home. Shazmyn’s attentive service at meals, Jalal’s warm demeanor, and Mikael and Laxmi’s dedication during room service stood out. Arif’s cooking class, Sulis and Vere’s spa treatments, and Niu Sher’s skilled photography added unique touches to our experience. Alam’s attentive housekeeping further enhanced our comfort. Fushifaru offers stunning views, excellent food, and unparalleled service. The staff’s dedication transforms the resort into more than just a luxurious destination—it’s a truly personalized experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a relaxing, beachside getaway.

Our 6-day stay at this resort was nothing short of incredible—truly the best vacation we’ve ever had. The island itself is an absolute paradise, with stunning natural beauty, pristine white sandy beaches, and crystal-clear waters. It’s everything you’d imagine paradise to be and more. The hotel is simply extraordinary. I’ve never been to a more idyllic place. The landscape and well-maintained surroundings are breathtaking. We stayed in both a beach villa and a water villa, and both experiences were wonderful. The beach villa is in no way overshadowed by the water villa; the open-air garden bathroom is beautiful, and having a private stretch of beach is a dream. The marine life is spectacular. We had the opportunity to see sharks, manta rays, and a huge variety of colorful fish while snorkeling along the resort’s coral reef. One of the highlights of this resort is the food. We opted for a half-board plan, which was more than enough. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, with incredible quality and variety. Every night featured a different theme (Indian, Asian, Maldivian, etc.), making every meal exciting and delicious. What truly sets this resort apart is its remarkable staff. Every team member is incredibly kind, attentive, and dedicated to making your stay perfect. We’d like to give a special thanks to Maggie, Shayan, Shazmyn, Jamal, and Moosa at the restaurant for their impeccable service; Tete, Maji, and Ega at the bar for always making us feel welcome; Shivani for her incredible yoga class; Axyan, our villa attendant, for the stunning floral birthday decoration; and our amazing host Maria, whose care and attention to detail made our vacation unforgettable. This has been a dream come true, and we can’t wait to return to this little piece of paradise.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Fushifaru, and while the natural beauty of the Maldivian islands is undeniably breathtaking, it was the incredible staff that made our experience truly unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to Chelsea, who was there for us throughout the entire stay, ensuring everything was just perfect. Manager Suresh was also always present, making things smooth and hassle-free. A special mention to our waiter, Meekail – one of the kindest and sweetest person I’ve ever met. He was incredibly warm and friendly, especially with our kids, which meant a lot to us. The rest of the restaurant staff were also wonderfully attentive and welcoming. I’d also like to thank Papa the lovely lady who kept our room spotless every day and the staff who looked after our villa so thoughtfully. The kindness and hospitality of the people on this island are on another level. They went above and beyond to make our stay special, and for that, I am truly grateful. Thank you, Fushifaru, for an amazing experience – we’ll carry these memories with us forever!

What a wonderful experience! Diksha, the beverage manager, the dinner manager, basically everyone at the resort gave top notch service. The resort island lived up to the hype of the Maldives. We snorkeled, booked a private sand bar lunch, a fishing trip, a floating breakfast, and enjoyed the evening activities. Thank you to the Fushifaru team! We visited in March.

We had a great experience here. Rooms were nice and spacious, clean and well stocked, as all inclusive guests we got free use of the mini bar, and select drinks all around the island. (excluding premium alcohol, which is typical for the Maldives) The bathroom was great with an outdoor shower and bath as well as a toilet, and a rain shower in the open, directly under the sky. The main restaurant is very nice with lots of options for everyone. Dinner is often themed around different cuisines from around the world. We had no problem finding something delicious every night. Breakfast was a highlight and again plentiful, with options for everyone. The island is small enough so you can walk all the way around in 15 to 20 minutes. You have the main bar with the infinity pool at one end. The restaurant on the other and the water sports and dive center near the arrival jetty. There's also a sports court just behind reception. And the spa is located in the middle. The island is split between sunset and sunrise sides. We had a villa on the sunset side which I would strongly recommend as the better option because the sun rises very early and you're often in the shade during the day if you want to sit just outside your villa on the sunrise side. We did lots of diving which I would very strongly recommend. Just make sure you bring enough money as everything you purchase in the hotel will have a 10% service charge as well as a 16% government tax added to the cost. This is for excursions activities and drinks and food (all inclusive items are exempt from this) adding a few photos of prices at the end of 2023. The staff is super friendly and everyone is very polite. We spent a lot of time in and around the diving center speaking to all the members of staff there as that was one of our interests and they all had great stories to share and recommendations where to go diving. All in all a very positive experience.. would recommend.
