"Jinks Art Factory might be the only place in the city that's a combination of coffee shop, tattoo parlor and art gallery. Owned by identical twin sisters, Jen, a tattoo artist, zaps customers in the back of the store while Sarah makes lattes up front. It's a favorite among locals; maybe because it's got the perfect window seat for people-watching." - Format

I very rarely review but honestly I'm hoping to save people the same disappointment I'm going through. First tattoo was by Q. Blacked out my whole bicep to make a smoke line look good. Did a clock and messed up the roman numeral numbers and placements. Basically chose and pressured me into the design he wanted to do even after explaining to him what I want. Then there is Kwon who the owner pushed me to go to and completely butchered me. Shakiest line work, didn't listen and messed up some negative contrast writing and don't even get me started on the background shading filler. FY Ink is an over priced, over hyped, money grab greed machine that cares more about squeezing as much out of you as possible. Currently in the process of an $8000 tattoo removal to get rid of the stuff they put on me because after looking at it for 5+ years and regretting it every time i see it, that seemed like the best option. Avoid like the plaque, there are WAY better shops in the GTA

I found out about FY INK through a friend. When I visited I sat down to speak with a few different artists, and where others had turned me down, the artists at FY walked me through the challenges with my desired tattoo, and helped me determine how best to go about getting the tattoo I want, to my liking. I am happy to say that I feel confident with the artist who is going to do my tattoo, Manny, and that he spent a lot of time working with me to figure it out. I have seen his work and the work of their other artists, and they are all amazing! FY INK had very friendly, and incredibly helpful staff! I am looking forward to when I go back for my tat, and I definitely think this is a great place check out for your next tattoo! Update: I finally had my appointment with Manny, and he was incredible. Manny is very chill and friendly. We used his more private chair upstairs so it was very personal, and we had a chance to really talk and get comfortable. He’s a great guy and definitely makes the experience easy and enjoyable. We finished the tattoo in two sessions and he has done the most amazing work. I am VERY happy with what he has done and I highly recommend him!!!

One of the best experiences at this shop. Manny took a rough drawing idea and turned it into something brilliant beyond expectations. He took the time at the beginning to ensure everything had the green light from me, tweaked anything that needed it before making the stencil and even took the time to get all the details just right. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with him. Super chill and professional. From paper to skin still has my mind blown I'm beyond impressed. I will recommend him to anyone, I've already started. I can't wait until next time!

From the initial walk in consult to the final product, it was an incredibly enjoyable tattoo journey. They were able to complete the whole process in 2 days (consult and tattoo). Zhaddie was wonderful to work with. She didn't rush me as I had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure the tattoo was perfect. She shared her ideas and welcomed mine as well. It was a great collaboration. Her skill set is awesome considering I got a small tattoo on my wrist. She was fun to work with. I highly recommend her for your tattoo.

Came here twice, I got work done with Mooongnyum, a guest artist they had at the time, and she was fantastic. Very detail oriented, worked with the ideas I gave her, and good placement. I was a bit intimidated by the shop at first but these guys are absolutely incredible. Everyone is super nice and it's a chill environment. The owner was always on top of people walking into the shop and kind about it. They take both cash and credit which is great. I would definitely recommend this shop if you want to feel like you are getting a quality piece.

Just had first session of two with Potter. Amazing quality work, he's truly a great artist. Great vibe in the shop overall, bunch of class people. Can't wait to come back for the second session and finish this beautiful piece!

Yelp
I have to agree with some of the other reviews here. Do your research and spend your money elsewhere for a better product.

Yelp
I had a friend who got his tattoo here and was very pleased with it so as my first tattoo experience. I called a week in advanced and sent emails for me and a friend of what we wanted done with a few artistic modifications. The owner, Andrew, is very friendly, and very warm. It made the experience very enjoyable. I was paired with Jenn as my artist and she really did a stellar job and her line work is beyond amazing. She was very patient with me when my arm would go numb from holding still and she did a great job of calming my nerves. Thanks for making my first tattoo-ing experience so spectacular.

Yelp
This my place whenever I'm in Toronto and Androjeny is a beaaast! She did 3 smaller tattoos on me and also a 10 hour rib piece and I couldn't be happier. Also had a small neck piece done by key who is also dope af. Chill as vibe in there and everyone's coooool Will be coming back often haha

Yelp
Walked in here with a friend since she wanted her navel pierced. The people there were very friendly and informative. My friend said the girl piercing her was very nice and helped her calm down because she was nervous and it didn't hurt at all. She also provided her with information of how to clean the piercing as well. My friend loved the end result! Oh on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have piercings special for $35 plus taxes. Awesome deal IMO. Not sure if it's a permanent special but I was just there a couple of days ago. TRY IT OUT!

Yelp
Everything about this shop is fresh! Traveled all the way from Los Angeles to Toronto to have Potter handle a Medusa piece I was sitting on for a while. Saying he killed it would be an understatement! Not only is he super talented in what he does, he's a really cool dude. At the time you had Higor, Nikki, and Kyle doing pieces for other people as well and they are ALL super talented. The owner Lee is super chill and runs a clean and professional organization that just brings a feel good vibe to clients and everyone that just stops by to hang out. No regrets in traveling the distance and hanging out in Toronto! Well done forever young ink...

Yelp
I have several tattoos and this is by far the best place I have ever come to receive one. I live in Sudbury, and make the 4 hour trip just to get tattooed by Kyle. I had some reservations based on these reviews, but I've now come to realize they are most likely written by disgruntled people who need to have their voice heard even if they're saying nothing of substance. Kyle is amazing. He was very receptive to my wants, and extremely creative. I gave him a lot of artistic freedom with my sleeve in terms of layout and placement, as long as some specific components were in it and he loved it. He doesn't get offended if you're not completely sold on one of his ideas, and he works with you to find something that will work on the body and be in line with what you were envisioning. He is super welcoming and friendly. He makes completely appropriate jokes, engages you in conversation with things you may have mentioned previously. For me, we talk a lot about food because we love food, and about weightlifting because I am a powerlifter. I actually enjoy conversing with him. He works quickly, and his art is beautiful. His attention to detail is spectacular. He really puts a lot of effort into ensuring his work is original, and he doesn't copy other tattoos. The receptionist/apprentice Andrea, is very welcoming and kind, as well as beautiful! Her reminder phone calls are so appreciated, and I can't wait to see some her work! Andrew, the operations manager is one of the main reasons (other than Kyle) that I decided to choose FY as my shop for my sleeve. He was extremely friendly and accommodating. On my way to my first session, he called me to ensure I was getting there okay (because I was late, oops) as well as to advise me where to park. When I got there, being from Sudbury and driving a large truck, with never having driven in Toronto in my life I had no clue how/where to park. Andrew actually went out and parked my truck for me so I didn't hit anything or get a ticket. All in all this shop is amazing. It is clean, well organized, and they're always playing good music. It was different genres every time I went in but always made me jam. This shop, and specifically Kyle is well worth the wait as well as the price. I actually enjoy that he waits to design the piece until I am present because he considers all of my input on the spot. I will be getting all of my future pieces done by him. I'll continue to review as I get more sessions, but right now I couldn't be any more impressed with the shop as a whole than I am right now. Thank you so much FY!

Yelp
I'm very hesitant to try new places and new artists.. to me it was just another flashy tattoo place. However over time I kept hearing from one of my clients of one particular artist who was AMAZING at fine detail and lines. I have a lot of tattoos already but I had moved from Ottawa where my very talented artist works. I had followed the artist on Instagram to see more of their work and blew my mind. Had to give this artist a shot. My artist not only spent their time but really wanted to personalize it to what I wanted. I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about them and their work. However.. trying to get an appointment with them is RIDICULOUS. They barely pick up the phone and when they do.. they're pretty cold. I work in customer service and believe me.. no customer wants to go to a shop with that first impression of the shop's front desk. I have now started to contact my artist directly so there are no mix ups and I feel much more welcomed than when I try to phone in.

Yelp
This will be pretty long but here goes. I went in there about a month ago with an idea in mind, a quote about it and some general ideas on a design I wanted done on my upper arm to cover up an old, lame tattoo. I was told that it would have to start with the main animal and then go from there, but I would be shown some artwork on the design before the appointment which was about a month later. It was clear the artist I chose because of price range couldn't speak English too well, but the manager did a good job of communicating. I was asked to put down a $200 deposit which I found to be excessive, but I'd been searching for artists for a while, had the money so threw it down. Later that day, to clarify something regarding the design, I e-mailed and was responded to by one of their employees. He explained to me that the artist would rather do the tattoo in black and grey and asked me if I had any problem with that. I e-mailed back and was explicit about wanting some colour and about clearing that beforehand should there be any issue. I never heard back so I assumed all was ok. Six days away from the appointment I had not heard anything about seeing a design so I went by the shop. The manager told me that it was just to be worked out before the session and that the artist would do a killer job. I politely but reluctantly agreed, as this was not what I'd been told nor what I wanted. I went in and basically we started looking at pictures on the internet for the main animal. The issue about colour then arose, as it was told to me then the artist indeed only worked in black and grey. Clearly this should have been addressed when I originally e-mailed them about it but wasn't...so now it felt a bit between a rock and a hard place, compounded by the fact the manager then brought up the fact of $200 non-refundable deposit being on the line. I suppose he was just doing his job, but at that point I was more concerned about what was permanently going to go on my skin rather than worrying about money. Anyways, he said we should get the ball rolling and that later on, another of their artists could add in some colour so i was good with that. The next thing was the size...when it first went on my arm I saw that it was too big, and to that the artist kind of snickered and responded that smaller than that would be a "girl tattoo" which I thought was kind of a cliched joke. There could have been a language issue, and the female artist on staff who was very friendly throughout the day stepped in to try and explain things a little. Anyways we haggled a bit, and in the end I agreed to a certain size which i still feel is a bit too big and doesn't leave a lot of room to personalize the tattoo the way I originally intended when the whole process started. I however, take full responsibility for that...I should have been more attentive to how the size looked and been firmer in communicating. In the end, the actual work that was done was of very good quality and the artist was a good dude so that's cool...I chose them because of the realism style I wanted and because it's clear they are all amazing tattooists. However, I feel the process had considerable flaws, and although the people were generally friendly the place kinda had that too cool for school hip hop vibe which just doesn't resonate with me and I probably shoulda gone somewhere more my speed. I will be going to another shop to finish off the colour and see if they can personalize the work for me without taking up too much more space....and that's an honest appraisal of my experience there.

Yelp
AMAZING! FY Ink simply ROCKS! I had been looking for an artist for a while and couldn't find anyone who was as enthusiastic and talented as I wanted them to be. Then I walked into FY Ink. First, I should say that the amount of talent at this shop is just amazing. The quality of work that comes out of here is exceptional. Lance did an amazing job on a freehand piece for me and to be honest it makes me want to cover up the rest of my ink because they just don't seem worthy of being close to his work. I had a blast the entire time chatting with everyone and sharing some laughs during a process that can at times be lengthy and boring. Thanks Lance and everyone at FY Ink. I'll be back in the new year and trust me when I say I won't even glance in the direction of another Tattoo shop ever again.

Yelp
I spent a lot of time researching tattoo artists and I thought I found exactly what I wanted. I'm from Alberta and had to arrange to fly in. The shop seemed like they were alright facilitating an out-of-town appointment so I booked three days in February and three days in March to get some work done. The communication to arrange everything was poor on their end. I was very specific about what I wanted. From design, size and images. I was told that the artist was happy to what I wanted as it was "right up his alley". Potter was the artist I booked with. When I emailed him he would sometimes reply but his assistant started to handle most of the communication via email. I didn't know that his assistant does not work for the company and when I told the staff who I had been emailing they all were unsure as to why. We had been emailing for about 5 months ironing out all the details. So I booked time off work, I book flights (for two..), I book a place to stay close to the shop.. We flew in a day before the appointment to make sure we arrived on time.. Tattoo day: When we get to the shop Potter is late. He arrives 45 mins late. We don't get started for another 45 mins as he still had to setup and he wanted to use the computer (was currently in use at the time). When it was finally time to get started we thought he would show us what he came up with prior to us flying in.. Not the case. He said he "looked" on Google the night before for an hour. When we were at the shop he told me he would not be tattooing one of the images as he had already done it. This would have been nice to know before I had made all of the arrangements to come to Toronto! He started looking up images outside of what we had agreed on.. The image was an integral part of the sleeve and I didn't want another artist doing only one part of the sleeve. I said we could do it a little differently if that would make it a possibility. Potter still refused to do the image. The owner of the shop was there at this time; after much debating (probably an hour of them reviewing my emails and trying to make me change the agreed design) Potter gave in. Now I have an artist who doesn't want to do the piece agreeing to do it because of whatever the owner said to him. At this point I felt like the ink was going to be slapped on. I felt (and still feel..) misled, and incredibly uncomfortable with anyone there marking me permanently.. I voiced this to the artist and owner. I was told that Potter has a minimum charge of $1200 a day. This is *not in any contract*.. The owner said if I didn't get the work done they would charge me $200 a day for the 6 days I had booked. I was told I could pay it and get something done or pay it and leave. Now I felt forced to stay. The owner also made it clear that if I didn't stay I would not be welcome back. If this is how they treat their customers, I really don't know how they stay in business. We eventually agreed on $600 and to cancel everything booked. No work done, and out of pocket. Wow and ouch.. I do NOT recommend this place. Customers be careful.

Yelp
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you get a Black & Grey tattoo from Potter, you WILL be overpaying for double the hours that he completes - takes him only 3-4 hours as opposted to 5-6. My artist was Potter, who showed up 1 hour late and took another hour or so to get the stencil desided THEN another hour to do station setup. Overall, the shop is a sterile environment and their technology is top shelf - HOWEVER it's important to note a severe immaturity with the two men who manage the place. For instance, going down for the consultation I found out Potter was sick when I got there and then sick the next day - I have to take the subway and a bus to get to FYI. What really unnerved me about my tattoo experience was how Potter's Flat rate of $1200-1600 ($200 per hour) didn't align with the amount of hours to complete the tattoo - WHY? Because they failed to inform me Potter's Black & Grey tattoos in fact Only took 3-4 hours instead of 5-6 hours - **I Payed for SIX) - which means I lost out on $400-$600 where they could have given me time to reconsider instead of putting me on the spot to get the tattoo done that day. Potter at least was a pleasant tattooist to work with and I was happy with the tattoo itself. **I didn't go for the usual color portrait because of my slightly darker skin, so if I'm looking to get another B&G Portrait it most certainly Won't Be at Forever Young Ink.

Yelp
Came into the shop in early February to get a simple, small arrow tattoo done on my inner forearm. Was set up with the shop's visiting artist, Dixer. Had this been my first tattoo I'd be traumatized by this terrible experience from start to finish (what kind of tattoo artist doesn't tell a client about tattoo aftercare?!) Most importantly, the finished product was terrible - uneven lines, tons of ink fallout, and just overall an amateur, crappy job. I contacted the shop last week to see what they could do to fix it - the owner, Lee Baxter, at first seemed apologetic and after seeing a picture acknowledged that it needed to be touched up. However, it's been days since I asked to make an appointment and I haven't heard anything back. Terrible customer service. I decided to go to another tattoo shop to get this fixed. The artist there couldn't believe what a sloppy job was done on my arm.

Donna M.

Yelp
Came in today to get some ink. Website says walk-ins welcome. I came in with a design in mind but wanted to leave it up to the artists interpretation. They dissed my design and told me that I'd have to book at least a week in advance as what I was asking for was complicated, also they had no artists working. I was there 10 min after opening on a Saturday. No artists? On a Sat? They were rude and un-helpful. I went down the street to another shop who drew it up in 45 min and did it with a smile.

Katya C.

Yelp
Came here for a small tattoo, the artist rushed through it and now I am stuck paying someone who actually knows what they're doing to fix all my (way-overpriced) crooked lines. AVOID!

Donald L.

Yelp
Pretty dope shop, cool environment and great artists. Potter ripped a sick realism half sleeve on me so far, can't complain work was 10/10, you get what you pay for. Was chill working with him too, we just chilled in the back finding images and designs and then he stencilled it and got to work. Best thing is the tattoo healed 100x better than my other tats, probably had to do with the ink and aftercare since everyone's first tattoo probably didn't have the best aftercare!

Rebecca S.

Yelp
My appointment date ended up having to change a few times due to the artist being out of the country and a conflict with my own schedule. But they were very accommodating, though hard to get anyone to answer the phone/emails, but once I got a hold of someone they were always pleasant. When I came in for my tattoo they seemed to be a bit busy and possibly behind. We didn't get started until about 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment. The artist was extremely nice and thorough in explaining exactly what she was going to do, and what to expect afterwards. The vibe of the store was a bit too laid back at times, and a little uncomfortable due to the open concept. Overall, I think that it was a good experience, and I walked away happy with what I got.

Shlee H.

Yelp
I walked in here hoping to find an artist to fix up some tattoos. The person I spoke to was pretty patronizing. He proceeded to tell me stories of clients who expected one thing and ended up having to go over budget at THIS same shop. First of all, I never mentioned I even had a budget expectation. I don't haggle pricing on something that's going to be on my body forever. I was also told the artist I wanted wouldn't fix up/cover my tattoo because it would tarnish his portfolio...what?! Aren't cover-ups a plus in portfolios? Ultimately it felt like he was trying to turn me away, for about 15 minutes, without actually saying the words "get out". I was so excited when I walked in, looked through some portfolio's and found an artist I loved - only to be told they're artist was too good for what I wanted. I spoke with two other shops the day after going here and was pleasantly received by both, who were HAPPY to brain storm with me about what the possibilities are. I wish I could speak more to the work of the artist here...their stuff looks pretty awesome. I felt like I was sitting in front of the Gatekeeper from the Emerald City. Too bad I didn't have my ruby slippers on.

Yelp
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I booked a tattoo appointment a month in advance with Scoot and put down a $100 deposit, I told them the design I wanted in advance (a rose) and got the OK from them. The waiver I signed said they don't do touch ups on hand tattoos (which was what I was getting) but he insisted I would get free touchups and that only finger tattoo touchups had to be paid for. When I got to the shop their story changed and now they insisted touch ups were NOT free. I was still going to go ahead with the tattoo but the Scoot decided he didn't like the placement of my tattoo so refused to do it. Insisted it was "stupid" and called other artists to back him up on his opinions. Completely unprofessional. Then they all tried to convince me to change my mind about the placement. Scoot insisted his reputation would be tarnished if he did this tattoo for me. Needless to say I got my money back and won't ever recommend this place.
