Clean hotel, walkway smells good. Room is spacious. Bathroom has no tub, but has a big rain shower (fixed head). Toiletries are complete, fresh towels provided. Cute minibar — 2 chocolates + canned drinks, and coffee/tea + 2 waters refilled daily. Sea view is very soothing. Great location: Gurney Drive food and the mall are walking distance. However, front desk hospitality needs improvement. Ground floor staff just directed us to Level 3 to check in with no warmth, and only 1 person at Level 3 was friendly, others not welcoming. Café staff on the other hand are very friendly and helpful. Infinity pool is spacious and clean, peaceful to relax. Overall good stay, perfect location, but please improve service at the front.

Having stayed in G hotel for many times over the years, my return this time has been perfect as well. The location and the services are great. Amazing services from check-in to check out, housekeeping service, and breakfast at the restaurant. Accorded early check-in and late check-out. The duplex suite was very spacious and cozy. My only critics are the stairs to the bathroom and a little slippery, and the guest toilet should place hand towels. Got free mini bar & laundry and lounge access were included. Did not get a seat on the 2nd day of my stay and ended up standing for the evening cocktail. Nonetheless, the overall services were impressive. Already booked my next stay in January.

We booked our stay at the G Hotel from 7/09/25 to 11/09/25 after a recommendation from a colleauge who'd stayed at the hotel during a previous holiday. We were very impressed with the helpful polite staff, always willing to assist with any queries, organised Grabs, private tours on our behalf. The room was spotless and attended to everyday. The pool area was amazing, and open until 10.30pm so to the gymnasium. Cafe and restaurant provide great food and service. The fact it's joined to the Gurney Plaza and a variety of food stores just outside the lobby is a BIG plus and allows for a spot of shopping, a relaxing drink or dinner after a day of sightseeing. Highly recommended and will be staying there again during my next trip to penang.

We stayed here 7 nights 10 - 17 November 2025. We were upgraded to an executive suite. There was a lot of room, with a separate space with a desk and the bedroom area with a king size bed. The air con was efficient. There was a free minibar replenished daily. Tea, coffee, Milo and coffee pods were provided. Only two (large) easy chairs provided, one in the bedroom, the other near the desk in the office area. Two windows in two separate walls. A large wardrobe space with only six hangers and a safe very low down near the floor and a couple of dressing gowns. Oddly, there were no drawers at all, anywhere. On one side of the bed there was an electric socket plus both a USB-B and USB-C outlet, but, oddly, nothing on the other side. These were the only USB outlets in the room.||The WiFi seemed strong and I was getting around 40mbps. We both slept well in the comfortable king size bed. One bonus of an executive room is three pieces of laundry per person, per day, an excellent inclusion. There is supposed to be a turndown service, but it happened sporadically, although a few times it was was our fault.||The bathroom was large, with just about enough space for two people to put their toiletries. Weirdly, the shaving mirror was on the opposite side to the sink. The water was just about hot enough to wet shave with and for once, the sink plug worked, meaning the water didn’t run away and that I could clean my contacts safely. The toiletries provided (hand soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner) were a very nice smelling product from Elemis. The shower was ok.||Breakfast was good. Lots of different things. I was surprised that there was no breakfast provided in the executive lounge, but of course, there’s more choice in the cafe. The executive lounge is quite large and the evening canapés were plentiful. As for the drinks, they even had sparkling wine. A first for me! They came round and replenished glasses as required.||Would I stay here again? I certainly would!

Good to receive free laundry per day but communication could be better as they tried to charge me extra at check out. When I explained I was sure it was free because I checked carefully before I used the free service, the staff cancelled the charge at the end but he was not happy at all. This has completely changed my impression of the hotel. Location was good. Apart from the check out experience, the service was good.

Their security manager, Arul — old, loud, and clearly practicing for a street fight — after seeing some guest's review about the same guy. We reported him to the general manager months ago, but nothing changed. Either he’s not afraid of the GM, or the GM is scared of him. We had a run-in with this guy, and he provoked us first — even when we were calm. Speak back, and he turns it into a full-on street-fight style argument. Really? A 5 star hotel? Clearly no one is keeping him in check. Maybe someone above the GM will finally notice. Seems like this hotel will only realize the problem once he creates a really big mess. Decided to post a review so everyone will know this.

G Hotel is conveniently located above 2 malls, making food and other things easily accessible. It provides free parking for their guests and the service is excellent. Breakfast as well was not bad, most things are freshly cooked and for the 3 nights I stayed there, there was good variety. That being said the rooms are extremely dated and some are not in the best condition. The first night the Aircon wasn't working and that was really uncomfortable. They sent an A/C technician but he was unable to repair the issue. Only the next day after a terrible sleep did they give us a new room. It probably would've been better if they gave us a new room that night. Lastly the free amenities in the room such as the soft drinks, coffee and tea are appreciated but they should probably provide a sugar free or caffeine free option for people. Either with an option of chamomile/ginger tea or sugar free / caffeine free soda.

Great service, friendly housekeeping staff who always smile, very comfy pillows but a few pillows were smelly, we requested for a change, mattress was really firm and comfy, just a few improvements needed eg. A place to put out toiletries in the shower cubicle will be good and also a weighing scale for the bathroom. Buffet breakfast's stir fried ish fillet not fresh and coffee from coffee machine can be of better quality.

Yelp
I stayed here for four nights during my first visit to Penang. All the hotel staff I encountered made sure my experience was as pleasant as possible and I enjoyed my stay here. I arranged a car service from the hotel, and upon arrival, a friendly driver was waiting with "g hotel" sign. His friendly smile made me feel welcomed. I needed to stop by ATM machine to get cash and I had difficult time understanding the instruction. He kindly helped me get the cash I needed. Drive to the hotel was smooth without much traffic, he acted as a tour guide during a short ride to the hotel. Check in process was as smooth as was possible. At the front desk, they checked my reservation, and since I booked at the executive floor, they kindly escorted me to the executive floor to process the check in. While the staff at the executive floor processed my check in, I waited at the lounge with a nice cup of tea. I arrived at the hotel at 10:30am and I wasn't expecting any rooms to be available but they quickly cleaned up a room while I waited and gave me a key to my room. Room was not that big but spacious enough. View from my room was beautiful with nice beach. Complimentary soft drink and water was nice. Although I didn't drink any of the soft drink they looked yummy. I wish I had time to try some of the juice. I also missed my complimentary ice cream. I was too full from so many yummy dishes, I didn't have time or appetite for ice cream at the hotel. Staff at the executive lounge was always helpful. They remembered my name and my room number from the day one, and ensured my stay was pleasant and comfortable. I needed to have my business suits dry cleaned on the last day as I was in Asia for two weeks with one carry on suitcase. I needed my suits cleaned before my following week meetings. I asked them about the express dry cleaning service and ensured my clothes are back in six hours. Since I got back to my room earlier than I anticipated on Friday, I changed my clothes and took them for dry cleaning. Two of the staff approached me later on separate occasion to make sure I already sent out my clothes for dry cleaning. I enjoyed working out at the gym every morning. They open from 5am and I was usually the first one to show up. A huge gym with nice view of the ocean from one side and pool from the other. Room temperature was comfortable, plenty of equipment for everyone to use. Wifi was fast and steady. Sometimes staying a hotel you don't get consistent wifi signnal but this hotel's wifi was very strong and I was able to get signal everywhere. I got a lot of work down in my room. On Saturday, my partner joined and we hired a limo service for sightseeing tour from the hotel. It was the same driver picked me up from the airport and he took us around some of the tourist places and we enjoyed learning about Penang history. We also enjoyed nice massage at the spa. We were very relaxed after 90 mins traditional massage followed by 60 mins of reflexology. My partner is picky when it comes to massage and they were able to accommodate whatever he requested. They served nice cup of tea after the massage. I tried their white tea and my partner tried ginger tea. Both were very soothing felt good for my body after long massage. Food here was very good as well. I enjoyed my daily breakfast at the executive lounge. I tired nasi lemek (traditional Malay breakfast) after receiving suggestion from one of the staff. I enjoyed it so much, I ended up eating one everyday during my stay as well as at another place (in Singapore hotel we stayed). They have Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor and very authentic food, some of the staff were Japanese. They serve some of the traditional food as well as westernized Japanese food, and I enjoyed both of them. The bar at the lobby was good. The lobby is very roomy and I feel comfortable with wide open area. Not much of selection when it came to wine, but we enjoyed decent bottle of wine one night. Limo company staff, bell desk staff, security staff, and everyone I encountered more than twice remembered my face/and sometimes my name and greeted me with very nice smile every time I passed by them. Thank you g-hotel for helping me create very good memory. My work/meeting was successful, the hotel staff made sure my visit to the island of Penang was pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend g-hotel if you are planning to visit Penang.

Yelp
Stayed for 3 nights during Chinese new year. Staffs are amazing and they upgraded me to a bigger room with wheelchair access bathroom. I used their wheelchair for the whole time. It's easy access to the shopping mall Gurney Plaza 4 stars because they moved their lobby to level 3 and the ground floor becomes so noisy with many restaurants. Lost its hotel classiness

Yelp
Great location and easy dining in air conditioned mall next door. Didn't experience the pool or dining in the hotel, but seemed a nice environment

Yelp
Good location next to Gurney Plaza which has shops, eating outlets and supermarket. A short walk away is Paragon shopping centre with more shops, eating outlets and supermarket. Still good after all these years. Beds are firm. We prefer this as the lobby is spacious unlike G Hotel Kelawai which is just behind G Hotel (the original). Service is not bad too.

Yelp
No question the best hotel to stay at in Penang. The location couldn't be more convenient. Gurney Plaza and the Paragon are all right downstairs with ample shopping, entertainment and dining options. Right outside the hotel there is a night market with delicious and cheap hakwer food. The hotel itself is modern, upscale and luxurious. The rooms are clean, comfortable and also very modern with its decor. This place isn't cheap by any means but we've stayed at most of the larger hotels in George Town on this strip and this one blows them all away on all counts. Well worth the extra money.

Yelp
G Hotel is one of the most stylish hotels on the Penang island. It has a fantastic location, right next to the Gurney Plaza shopping centre. Its lobby is really impressive, giving an impression of chic and designer cool. I would highly recommend this hotel for business travellers, or travellers who are looking for comfortable and stylish accommodation on their trip to Penang. As it is rated as a 5-star hotel, rates are slightly on the high side, but you get what you pay for. Service is great, staff are friendly, rooms are spacious - especially the executive rooms. I can vouch for the hotel's staff performance, after staying on multiple times and running an event at this hotel. I couldn't fault the staff one bit. The pool area tends to be quiet especially during off peak travel seasons. Gym is also well equipped. Besides business travellers, which I believe make up a fair portion of their guests, this hotel will make a great choice for staycations or quick getaways.

Yelp
Aesthetically superlative, tasteful and luxuriant; spacious lobby and rooms; located near a mall and street eateries; staff spoils you with their courtesy, where do they find such people to employ? On the flip side, the G is far away from the Industrial Bayan Lepas area, but that's not the hotel's fault. A great experience. If you work here, you should be proud.
