A locally-owned, independent bookstore with a great selection of bestsellers, local interest, books for kids, calendars, cards and more. All in a convenient location at the Shops of Sea Island (grocery store, clothing stores, toy store). Friendly service. Plenty of parking. 😎

GJ Ford has a great selection of books, games, and figurines for the whole family. A well curated list of books and a very friendly staff that said hello when I walk in. When I come to St Simons, I make an effort to visit!

Love this bookstore! Very sweet and helpful staff who have a fifth sense for good book recommendations and are knowledgeable about today's best reads. A great place to pop in after getting out of the grocery store!

Great little indie store which has a wide variety of books, very friendly staff, and good prices. Very much worth a visit if you are in the area.

This is a wonderful place to buy a gift for yourself or others, and spend a few dollars supporting a local small business. The shop is small but adequate. You can find a number of local author or travel books amongst a nice selection of children's books and other adult books like cookbooks and non fiction. The prices are competitive and they offer a rewards club that you can sign up for at the register. The staff are super friendly. The store is quiet and we'll appointed. It's an absolute must visit on your next trip to SSI. You'll have no trouble finding a nice new selection. See website for hours and location. Happy reading!

In the last few years whenever I travel, I started to do two things: 1) buy a unique scented candle from a local boutique; 2) frequent a local bookstore and buy a book recommended by a staff person there. I don't know why doing these 2 things makes me soo happy, but whenever I make these 2 things happen, I always feel really good. Sooo it should come as no surprise that G J Ford not only met my travel expectations, but exceeded them. The bookstore is a true GEM of a place. If you ever saw Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan's "You've Got Mail" - G J Ford reminds me of the charm of Meg Ryan's bookstore in the movie. It is small, packed with great reads, very organized, inviting, bright, and the staff is super friendly. The lady at the register was really sweet, and I got some great feedback from her on the last few books that she read (she also gave me some good advice on Fredrick Beckman's books, which was very much appreciated!). I asked her what book she would recommend for me to get. She was very thoughtful before responding, and then pointed out Anthony Doerr's "All the Light We Cannot See" and said it was the book she would suggest. She said it was a story that was set in France, and the writing was very strong. It also is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize! I had never heard of it, but was excited to get my hands on it (yes book, take me to France!). There was a 20% discount in the store at the time, so the book was a steal and ended up costing me with tax, less than $16! Since leaving Saint Simons, I just finally, over the last 2 days, got to crack open "All the Light We Cannot See" and so far, it is REALLY good. His writing, for lack of a better way to say this, is just beautiful. I am looking forward to diving into this book and transporting myself to the gorgeous port city of Saint Malo. I wish I knew the name of the lady at G J Ford who I spoke to, but if she is reading this review, a HUGE thanks for the rec, I am loving the book! In my opinion, this bookstore is a GO TO, regardless of whether you are a local or visiting. They are just awesome, and I'd love for them to get your business and keep their doors open. G J Ford is reader's paradise :-)

Such a cute bookstore with a great selection of books! The staff was very nice and helpful too. I got lucky and found the perfect book to read while on vacation here at Sea Island.

Your everyday book store with a wide inventory. I have only been inside of GJ Ford Bookshop a couple of times. They have many books and such, but everything is very overpriced.

Pretty great find when you forget a book for the beach :) They have a good selection for a local store. Of course nothing like a big box store but who wants to go to one of those right? They also had some titles that I'm pretty sure you couldn't get elsewhere. They even have a sale section and a section of novels written about Georgia and the area. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that the staff was not very friendly. When I walked in she said hello under her breath about as loud as a church mouse and then when she rang me out she acted like I was bothering her.

This is a cute indie bookshop located in the same complex as Harris Teeter. The majority of titles are devoted to regional authors. You won't find a huge selection of contemporary fiction (which is my personal favorite), but that's okay.

Excellent local bookstore, always have something for me even if its not exactly what I thought I was looking for, support your local bookstore ! GJ Ford is a must visit for the rainy morning or anyone beach bound.

A great local joint with local flavor. When I needed a birthday present and they were out of stock of a particular book, they were quick to order another at a fair price. Nice people too.

Had such a great experience here. The staff was so helpful and had read most of the books I asked about. I couldn't decide which books to get because I think I wanted to read close to ten of them. Reasonable prices as well and they're very updated on what was new and best selling!

This shop is small and with an understandably limited selection, but it has some great treasures. Most impressive is the staff, who are friendly and knowledgeable. I got a great book AND restaurant recommendation from them!
