On the Grid : G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture

"You will not find another place like this in the city. Since it’s tucked away in the extreme corner of Shakti Mill Lane - many locals are also surprised when they visit this space. The G5A is a contemporary art and culture space - a converted warehouse in the mill district of central Mumbai. It houses the Black Box, PORT (café), the Study, the Artists’ Tent and the Terrace. It is an ideal space if you are the kind who parks themselves in a cozy corner with a book in your hand and a cup of coffee by your side. Check out their website for events, films or live performances!" - Thought Over Design

Went there twice one for a climate summit 2023 , and other recntly for The sanctuary debate 2024. Ambience is good , wheelchair accessible, pretty good arrangements and security. Only one thing it's hard to navigate through cab because of the location.

One of the best live experiences I’ve had. I had the opportunity to watch several artists perform and was thoroughly impressed by the outstanding sound quality and lighting. The overall production was top-notch and truly elevated the entire experience.

Attending a recital organized by Melobee school of music, it was a great experience and the ambience really favoured the program. It really looked like the people knew how to transform the place according to the performance genre.

Beautiful set-up. We had our children concert. Sound and tech support is great. Seating is fine.... They should have the step style seating instead of chairs though.... But very comfortable... Compact and non cluttered.

The place is basically a great place for performing art and independent performances and also the background sound na the lights give a great feeling of the stage like feeling and will definitely give independent artists the platform much needed and also there is a restaurant inside so audience and performers can enjoy some meal . The sitting for the audiences were great

A breath of fresh air, as a performance venue & a cultural center. Been for a few shows here & G5A is the right mix of a intimate yet accessible space for any performance, be it a stand up, sit down or a music performance. Helps that Port outside is a good option to enjoy post your event.

We love this place so much. One of the best arts venues in the city and totally underrated. I've seen plays, music and today was a kids movie screening with a wildlife trail/activity workshop afterwards (INCREDIBLE). I also love the cafe/bar/restaurant here. Delicious food, creative menu and really lovely friendly staff. I really wish they had a better marketing team...it's so rarely full when I go - and the events are truly amazing and world class.

While the seating is the normal plastic chair that is short and might give you a backache after an hour, this is a good performance space for standups and other interactive sessions. It's not a big space as in a hall or a theatre. There isn't much parking except out front, but I don't think that's allowed. There is a bar/small bites /coffee shop inside the space which I wasn't very keen after ordering a cold coffee, which they didn't make quite well, even though they had nandan coffee. Will visit again, just for the performance even if the space is right outside some of the worst traffic area of mumbai - lower parel.
